Only two runs in quali, one on mediums and one on softs. Had to make a pit stop before the race start and didn't have enough time to get back on track for a third run before quali ended.
I spun on the formation lap coming out of Luffield and the only thing i can blame it on is the ERS setting. It seems it defaults to hotlap at the race start and it must have been too much power for me to handle on a full tank.
Race start was weird. Got away ok and then struggled for a bit trying to keep the back end in check. Finally turned down the ERS and that seemed to sort it for a while. These cars are a little tail happy. I was chasing down Mitch in the opening laps and got by but when he was coming back at me though Maggotts and Becketts i didn't know where he was as i couldn't see him in the mirrors, I could only hear his engine. I left room for him in case he was beside me but then lost control and spun giving him the position back and spending about 20 seconds trying to rejoin the race.
Mitch stopped early and i assumed that meant he was on a two stop strategy, so i stayed out to try and make a one stop work. Pitted lap 20 and came out about 15 seconds behind him. Slowly gained here and there but nothing big until his tyres started to go off. He stopped for the second time and when whe rejoined i had about 25 seconds lead. managed the tyres and made it to the end with about 20 seconds gap still. The tyres were worn but were still putting in decent enough lap times.
I think the game has something wrong with the pit lane speed here. In the real race this weekend the commentators were talking about an 80km/h speed limit but in the game it's set to 60km/h. That made the stop a lot longer than it should have been. IRL they said you only needed 18 seconds gap for a stop, but in the game it seems more like 25 or more.
Anyway, well done to all who could make it. It wasn't an easy one but i'm sure we'll all get a little more used to the car in the coming races.
