YEah, it was definitely some fun clean racing Pete. With the SC all you have to do is stay behind it until the final sector when i pulls away. You can then control the pack. You can slow down or keep the speed higher. You can bolt for the restart at your whim as long as the SC has cleared the track already. If you try to go too early the game will limit your speed until the SC has cleared. It is a tough spot to be in with your first race with this game but sh!t happens. Thanks for that. Yeah that makes sense. I was unfortunate as I was coming around the final corner when the SC was called meaning I could go straight in. The odds of me having that lucky timing is slim so doubt it'll happen again. Was cool watching how you manage ERS in your video. Another new thing for me. I don't know how you have that amount of concentration in all honesty dude. I just left mine on 2 until it got a bit low, then put on 0 for a few laps in between the two DRS zones. Even that was a struggle to manage. It can be a struggle to manage the ERS. In some circuit layouts its easier. I imagine for Abu Dhabi most of the ERS will need to be used on the straight everytime. dropping to lower settings for the chicane will help to restore a bit more, and then put it back up for the second half of the straight.

For Brazil i put ERS high up the hill(until was at top speed) and the straight to T4 then low then rest of the lap.
The key is turning it back down once you've hit top speed on the straight really.

The SC was a cluster****, but it happens.lol You do the right thing on the racing line. In any road racing, hold your racing line and it is on the overtaking car to pass appropriately. I suppose it depends on your situation. A lot of drivers would defend the inside of the corner when under pressure, especially on those straights. If it were the first race of the season and I was more experienced I probably would have defended way more, or put an effort into taking a position back. As it stands. If I did defend, Halo or not, I would have killed one of you. When you know you're slower lap after lap than people hunting you down, best thing to do is do your own race I guess. That mid-field mentality 😜 Let em pass easily and try and hang on in the slipstream w/DRS to speed up the race against my actual competition, or use it as a chance to harvest ERS. Backs up your original point, but you see it in the Isle of Man TT. Someone super quick catches the rider ten seconds ahead in no time, completes the pass off-line, then the slow dude tags along with him. I didn't have the skill to hang on for more than a few laps but every little helps 🙂 You're right, I was thinking if a blue flag. IoM TT is on my bucket list big time!

Yep. Fuel and ERS are invaluable at some tracks. Most tracks. Abu Dhabi will be interesting since there will finally be some real tire strategy.

Some very insightful feedback. Thank you!
I suppose you're using it like we used to use DRS. Makes sense to use it on straights.
A good point to utilising it effectively is that, for example, i was running very low wings at Brazil to help on straights. I guess if I used ERS like you guys did, I could have chose a higher downforce setup to help on the twisty bits.
Lesson learned.
And yes.. The TT's. I really would love to attend one year. It's probably the most epic thing one could witness imo. What nutters!

Anyone here have the Isle of Man TT game? That place is one incredible experience even in a game. It's got the best sense of speed of any game i've ever tried. I need to dig that out and give it another spin.

I'm shocked.. someone can the police, someone stole your halo strut 😯 So not running hardcore cockpit then.. I think that's an assist 🤣😂😉 Pass that joint.lol If you say so I'll turn it on. Most don't run it as it wouldnt be painted there in RL like it is on a 2D screen. It's entirely your choice Sean, I'm just winding you up lol... Actually it would be interesting to know from all the cockpit drivers who disables the halo? I just assumed we all raced with it enabled. Quite a few don’t race cockpit Peter so losing the halo is minor... hope they bring the cockpit as mandatory option ..

I’m not sure if Pete has mentioned this but I have secured some signed merch in the form of 2 signed caps for 1st and 2nd in the Drivers Championship and for the winners of the Constructors Championship. The winner of the Drivers Championship can choose either the Lewis or Valterri caps, so after the race next week pass your details either to me or Pete and I’ll get them out to the winners. Cheers Dave Oh well done Dave, had you have put this forward at the beginning of the season I would have gone all out for it... not much point now is there.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I always go with the most realistic option and for me that is cockpit and halo but if others don't that's up to them. No skin off my nose. I think there's only a few that race non-cockpit. I'm all for mandatory cockpit and would enforce it if we had the numbers and would not lose regulars that have raced with us for years, but we are not in the position to lose drivers. We have a hardcore of 8-10 that race regularly and the non-cockpit drivers are amongst that group so risking losing them is not an option for me as the grid would be in single figures.

With the cockpit, one of the ways to lose people ever from joining is being elitist 🤷🏻♂️ We already have no assists, trying to enforce a non mandatory non assist option as a rule is something we really don't want or need to do.

Non cocpit is an assist and should be regarded as an assist. Any additional points would be very nice running without, I'm sure.
I can't agree to use any halo mode cockpit however, I just not right, halo is a disgrace for all open wheelers, completely useless device. I can take penalty for not using it. Peter mentioned Isle of Man, balls of steel ...
Btw nice footage Karl, I need to push more in Abu Dhabi.

Still a main factor this game is missing, proper tire simulation, it would make this game a real deal, ERS making me nuts, can't imagine Kubica doing it all one hand .

It's pretty much impossible to convince sim racers to join a 100% league when they find out they will be competing against some that use assists.

Elitist? How many have joined the past several seasons? I've yet to see a full grid. Expecting a level playing field in a 100%, no assis, all weather league =/= Elitist

You're not giving them enough credit. IMO. Cockpit is "encouraged." It says it before every race in this league iirc. Obviously, Boothy/Cyclops Schumacher is excluded since he only has one eye.

So let's not act like the people who aren't in the "exception" are somehow using assists or are lesser for it. I've been playing the game the same way (bar the exception of moving from pad to wheel this season) on this grid since 2012, ain't changing it now 😉
