I had a practice today and unfortunately i'm just struggling badly. Can't seem to get to grips with this year's game and as a result am finding it difficult to get the level of enjoyment that I used to do. My best lap so far has been 1:30.8 which was only good enough for 7th on the grid against 95 level AI which is the lowest level i've raced against in years. Previously i've been competetive against 100-105 AI. Race pace has been really poor, started a race and after 13 laps am already about 25 seconds behind my teammate in the lead and even 6th place Gasly is pulling away by about a second a lap over the past few laps. Now struggling to hold onto 7th against Ricciardo in the Renault. I've left it there as it's proving more of a chore at the moment than the fun it should be 😒 I can't seem to keep the backend stable and traction out of the final chicane is no match for the AI. That hairpin costs me time every lap, I'm regularly up on my best lap up to there but it all disappears at that point of the lap!! I'm hoping to be on today if you want help, but watching OU Texas and then have a bday thing to go to. In the weekly, I was able to get a 1:30.2 and my best in testing is a 1:29 something. Point being, I can qualify between 4 and 6 at 100% and wings are everything with the AI in the race. With 5 6 wings or so, you can qualify well, but the Vettel etc will leave you during the race unless you burn a ton of ERS and Fuel. If you have higher than 4 in the front, you can't keep up. It also helps to undefuel the car rather than going Rich and Hotlap etc at the start. On Diff of no higher than 65 because of the chicane etc. I feel pretty good about a couple setups. My Hotlap setup is a general tune, but I don't know if I will run that much wing. This is a weird track and normally 100% AI isn't this tough. It my first F1 since 13, so I don't know how it has been in recent years.

No the carcus is is the inner cord of the tyre and surface is the outer layer which makes contact with the track. Pete is absolutely correct, unfortunately this ‘game’ does not provide the level of engineering that better simulation software does, the surface temperature relates to the outside band that contacts the road surface and the carcass is the construction that the tread is bonded to, if your front tyre temps are high but you’re not getting understeer then simply reduce the braking pressure but like I said before any setup change is a compromise Ok, I understand. Yeah, they have done some questionable things in this game. lol After I wrecked during my outlap of qualifying at Singapore, I watched others. Brake pressure is something I've been messing with, but still don't have a great feel for it. Boothy was braking much later than everyone else with no sacrifice to trail braking. So it wasn't like he was running 60+ bias, I don't think. Wondering if that is because the pressure was 95 or something. I tried that one race, but my brake foot went numb by the end of it.lol

You’re still a second a lap quicker than me 🤣🤣 lol yeah but you've had an enforced layoff so your excused 😉. In all seriousness it's a new experience for me, I've always loved the F1 series of games and never had a problem getting into it but this year so far has been different. I need to just find a way to enjoy it again and then I'm sure the ol' juices well start to flow again.

The good thing with brake pressure is that you can adjust that during the game which is really handy.

I've left my race paused to chill and watch a film with the missus but may just restart it and see if I can find some improvement and consistency. What sort of lap times are you getting at the start of a race on full fuel? I've had the Alabama / Texas A&M game on in the background myself 👍 Some big game's tomorrow... Second London game in the afternoon amongst them and my Niners from around 9:30.

Is it definitely going ahead? Haven't really kept up with what's going on over there since the qualifying was rescheduled.

Is it definitely going ahead? Henning really let up with what's going on over there since the equality was rescheduled The weather over there is fine for the qualifying and the race so Quali is in at 2AM and the race is on at 6 so fingers crossed

Going to a London game would be fun, speaking of! Huge upset over UGA by South Carolina today. Happy my Sooners finally play defense again. Been a decade since Gerald McCoy left lol

I restarted my race and was in the 37's to start dropping down to 36's as the first stint on softs went on. Hamilton was running 35's and by the time I pitted on lap 18 he had built up a 35 second lead. Second stint on mediums I felt a lot more comfortable and got down consistently into the mid 35's but Hamilton was still up to 2 seconds faster. Vettell was the only other driver that was anywhere close to him but still a few tenths down while the rest were in the 34's. I've paused after 40 laps just holding 6th place from Saintz with Verstappen about 10 seconds up the road.
Felt a bit better about things in the second stint on mediums, much better than the first on softs where consistency was tough to find but i'm clearly still not up to speed and am fighting the McLarens rather than being up racing for the podium places where I usually found myself in 2018 game whilst racing a higher level AI.

Didn't enjoy that game a single bit, and struggled to even turn the game on. Even now I'm not the biggest fan of where Codies has taken the game, (having the wheel has changed that slightly) so I don't even think about running any laps until the weekend of a race anymore and it's helped me a lot with actually enjoying the game and my mindset towards everything. It's a tricky rut to get out of, but as you say, you just gotta find that one thing to respark everything.

You sound quicker than me Peter. I did a high fuel run yesterday and was in the 1:35's. The little practice I've done with the AI (because I personally find them intolerable) I'm struggling to keep up with my teammate in the Renault with them on 86. Haven't done any qualy practice yet but don't tend to pay much attention to my one lap pace with these longer races.

I didn't get into the 1:35's until the second stint on mediums and in the practice offline races I run in the Merc so if you are 1:35's on full fuel in the Renault you are doing well 👍 Maybe I'll just start running in my Haas in offline GP's and see how I do in that in future but as far as I know the online car is still modelled essentially on the Merc which is why i've always done that.

The 1:35's times were in online multiplayer practice and I set the car to equal, so I guess I was in the Merc then. I'm never sure if the online car is set to the Merc or Ferrari so I just do my league car when offline practice. I'll try the Merc offline today and see how that feels because yesterday I did offline in the Renault and online in the equal 'Renault' and they felt a bit different with the same setup.
