Q: 3
Was happy with Qually, way off my PB though, but it was close up top so .133 off ain't bad.
R:3 Had a mega first stint with Neal and everyone behind catching up slowly but surely, got past for the lead, had a wiggle at the esses, then heard Neal only to look back and see he done what I barely avoided doing. Then after that I got swallowed by Karl and Will, had a good scrap with those two until the first stint. Pace was terrible from that point on, ended up in 4th with a stable ten seconds in front and 2 minutes behind, so last 11/10 laps put on some softs to get the fastest lap, but wasn't popping cause the game had Neal down as a 1:04 😬 Thankfully that meant I just had to keep trying cause I don't think there was half a tenth in it at the end.
Didn't deserve third in the end, but I'll take it, can't sniff at those 16 points. Well done to the rest of the podium guys, tough race.

Qualy 5th Race DNF
Qualy - Couldn't get anywhere near my personal best but i think that was down to the overcast conditions. The top 5 were all so close together! I was hoping for a good close race.
Race - Lost a position to peter at the start, for some reason when the lights went out i was in lean fuel mix & my ERS was off. After dropping down to 6th i managed to get up to 1st place before pitting on lap 17. Those opening 17 laps were so much fun! Pitted for the medium tyre & i started making mistakes. Alec started chasing me down & had some serious pace, i lost the back end on the penultimate corner & my car was side on in the middle of the track & alec hit me causing him damage (sorry alec) Not long after that more mistakes came & i lost my front wing, tried to pit but had massive understeer & hit the pit wall entrance ending my race.

Q:7 R:DNF
Made some setup changes for qualifying which seemed to work well, despite being 3 seconds away from the front row I was fairly satisfied with my 1.19 which was my PB for this circuit. Got a fair start but ended up in between Greg and Pete in T2 which resulted in me tagging Micko behind me, I was putting in consistent laps in the 1st stint but still 1 or 2 seconds a lap slower than the front runners but managing to pull away from Mick and Greg. Pitted on lap 18 for a 2nd set of soft tyres and found some more laptime pulling out a big gap back to Mick after Greg retired. That was pretty much the story of my race until I ran out of talent on lap 64 in the Esses. Big congratulations to Karl for his win after some stout defensive driving from Alec, great event again and looking forward to Austin next week.
Cheers
Dave

Q-2 R-1
As with most i was off my PB in quali as well. I had hit 1:16.0 several times in practice but couldn't get that last night.
Race was stressful, maybe the most stressful of the year. Managed to get a fairly good start but got passed by Will before the first turn regardless. Any of my offline race starts i was swallowed up by 4 or 5 cars everytime so getting overtaken by only one was an improvement. The first stint was great fun trying to keep up with Mitch, Will, Neale and Alec. Unfortunately for Neale he was the first to lose traction in the esses. I waited to pit so i could see what tyre everyone was switching to for the middle stint. I had planned to run soft/soft/medium but Will and Mitch and Alec all went onto the mediums so i did as well. Had some great running trying to keep up. Had some fun racing trying to chance down Will and keep Alec behind, but Alec's speed was just a little too great, and his braking through the corners was better as well. While he was working on trying to get past Will, Will had an oversteer moment out of T14 and they came together. I slid past and tried to build a lead. By the third stint when i was switching back to the softs I noticed Alec was running the mediums again which meant he must have had to change a wing or something. That's really the only thing that gave me a chance at the win. If we were on the same tyres i would not have been able to keep ahead. Alec was all over me, never letting up the pressure, and if it wasn't for his small error on the final lap he might just have had me at the end.
Congratulations to my team mate for the second spot and Mitch on the podium. There was some really good racing here and so many cars were on the same race pace. I hope the rest of this season had more racing like this.
Anytime Alec was near me it wasn't too long before he'd get past.

When it said 90%, I should have known it was going to be sunny!lol :-P Glad you guys didnt have rain!

Q 1 R 5 Well that started well then went down hill after my spin but had no damage. Mitch had some great speed on the first stint but some great racing. so continue but lost a good 10 seconds with that one then back up with Alex after his issue. Then Alex lets me though on main straight but then I loss the car again with damage so had to pit but thankfully it came at the same time as a tyre change lost more time with new wing fitting. Then I was on a chase up to Peter who I think had others round him closing fast then .........kicked try to reload game but wouldn’t expect disk so restart Xbox then the bloody thing starts a Xbox update so sat there waiting. Finally update done.
So to return to your car after being kicked from game. Rejoin game though another player I think I went though Peter . you are then put into lobby from lobby confirm START RACE NOT SPECTATE. Once game is loaded push X to SPECTATE THEN make sure you select your car then D pad down to TAKE CONTROL This is what I can remember so think this is correct.
Once I was back in was unable to do anything as was so far back but now had a car heavy on fuel so pitted to go for fastest lap then noticed had a 104. 🤣😝 was a great evening guys well done to podium lot some great racing .

What's gonna go on with the fastest lap point? I know it's only a single point but still 😂 Do I get it cause Neal's glitched and we can't see if he went faster or not?

It’s yours Mitch as it wasn’t me 😂😃👍🏻 As you say it’s a glitch as I wasn’t on at that time of the 104. 👍🏻 I am sure I didn’t get any faster than a 1.17.324 😂😂😂😂😂

Q 4 R DNF (4th)
Completely just forgot about the starting time of the race with it being a non standard start (my bad). Set a decent lap on my final go, good enough for 4th. Was happy to see the top 5 all within about 2 or 3 tenths.
Being two days later I cant recall my whole race. But had a blast throughout it. Was running just behind the leaders during the starting phase. Made my way up a few positions then I spun coming out of turn 6. My tyres were sliding around as if I was on ice after that. Neale quickly caught me and I tried to let him go (couldn't make up which side of the straight to let him pass on, we both kept going to the same side, sorry Neale). I made it to my first stop and saw the other leaders on Mediums so I followed suit.
I had some great side by side moments with Karl and eventually found myself behind Will for the lead. But he had a moment going through the stadium and ended up sideways in the middle of the track. I tried to slow and go around but went into him and knocked half my wing red. Pitted and changed to another set of Mediums to make it to the end of the race (about 30 laps remaining).
My fresh tyres helped me eat into the gap, plus being in Peter's tow helped me catch up (great pace shown by Peter IMO), it wasn't an easy pass. Karl then pitted thus I inherited the lead, but he was on the softer tyre and was right behind me. He made the move stick. I knew if I stayed within DRS i'd have a chance to attack him on the main straight. I hung with him and actually got the lead back once, but he claimed it again. I started to fall off his pace here, but had hope that his tyres would wear worse than mine and I'd have a shot at the end. I was catching back up to him, down to nearly a second, then I had a moment going through the grass in turns 1/2/3. About 5 seconds behind with 6 laps to go. Slowly catching him, but it probably wasn't going to be enough. I assume Karl had a moment somewhere because my 3.5 second gap was down to 1.5 with about 2 laps to go. Final lap I finally got DRS on him, but was too far back to dive for a move down the main straight. Right behind him if I could get better traction and line out of turn 3 I'd have a shot on the second DRS zone, but I gunned it just a touch too soon and spun right off into the wall, tyre gone, race over.
Bummer for Mercs constructor points but I think there is a certain saying by some Brazilian about going for gaps and overtakes vs sitting back /s
Great defensive stand Karl. Was fun and worth it, even to come home in 4th.

A major bonus for me here. First race in a long time that I have actually been able to put in some decent practice and it certainly made a huge difference.
Quali P6: My quali pace was a long way from my pb which was a 1:15.8 but I was some 2 seconds slower than that. I lost a few tenths in the stadium on my best lap but even without that I was still going to be no better than a high 1:16.
Race P2: The race start was ok and I got past Will off the line and then tucked myself into the inside going through turn 1 to try to avoid anyone on the outside. I think based on the others comments that Dave got sandwiched between me and Greg. I wish there was an easier way to look to the side in this game… not enough buttons to map that feature. I held onto 5th for a couple of laps before Will got past and then I settled into a decent rhythm staying close to the pack ahead. Pretty happy that during that first stint I was never more than a handful of seconds away from the leader which is something that has not happened this season for me, Neale’s spin at the exit of the esses promoted me to 5th place on lap 8 and I held that until lap 11 when Alec had his spin in the stadium. Once the pit stops started with me and Karl staying out longer I was running behind my team mate in the heady heights of 2nd place just a handful of seconds adrift and after confirming the team strategy over the radio I pulled the car into the pits at the end of lap 18.
While everyone else was on the medium tyre I opted to stick with my practice race strategy of softs and was able to close on Mitch but he was strong out of the last corner and it took me a few laps to get past him which was not great for my tyres but eventually I managed to get through under DRS to take 3rd place. His Merc team mate soon closed the gap to us both and he was past Mitch on the same lap I got past hm and then took me a couple of laps later. I was able to hang with him for some time while Mitch slowly dropped back but it was all very close with one mistake going to cost the position.
I briefly ran in second place again behind my fellow Haas and then pitted at the end of lap 40 to go to the medium tyre. Coming out I was down to 5th place with Mitch ahead by about 18 seconds but once all the stops had played out I was holding 3rd with a gap of about 10 seconds to the Mitch’s Merc. This stayed pretty stable over the next 8 or so laps until Mitch pitted for softs to try to grab that extra point. With a 30 second gap now I was pretty safe in the final podium position unless I made a mistake. I started losing time to the front two (mainly through the esses where they were much quicker) over the last 15 laps and the gap grew from just 3 seconds to over 10 in the space of 7 laps but I was pretty much just holding station at that point and making sure I kept it on the grey stuff and did noting silly. Gaining the second podium place when Alec went into the wall on the penultimate lap was an surprise bonus.
A very unexpected second place but more importantly I got back to enjoying the racing and having some fun. The practice is massive for me to get my head in the game and be bale to be somewhat competitive.
