Was a lot of fun.
Qualy. About 1:10 dead. Happy enough with that..
Had quite a tidy race for me. My customary multiple crashes and 6 pit stops didn't seem to materialise.

Apologies about the safety car stuff. It was called just before I got near the pit lane. Changed my tyres and found myself in first place the following lap. Safety car kept speeding up loads, then going slow as shit on the corners. I nearly crashed into it a few times. After that, having been passed a few times, I found myself plodding along in third with a hefty gap to forth, I'd guess due to penalties caused by me 😜 Had a my only large moment 2/3's through. Nearly hit my wing but saved it just. Found myself under immense pressure from third and forth too fairly quickly after.
All in all. Fifth place. Pretty fair. Only got the game last week and have had one 25% race at Australia until yesterday, getting ready for this race. Over the moon.
Well done everyone. Forgot how gruelling the race gets towards the end

So what's the penalty for driving straight through a back marker? Cause Boothy didn't give me a chance to even get out of his way coming out of the final corner running up the hill 🙄
Q: 8th Tight qually, shoulda gone quicker but losing the boards at the final corner pit me right off.
R: 7th Had a good start, then made a mistake trying to go side by side with Karl at T5 so was virtually last, made some places up then Marcin had an spin and during the second sector just drove into the side of me breaking my front wing, so... Dirty cheat move there 😏😂 Spent most of the second stint just losing time on the mediums, then put on the softs and was catching Gareth, then the rest of the race was back and forth with him until he spun at T8, then had Boothy just drove through me for no reason, then T4 on the last lap spun giving Gareth the place back.
Well done to everyone on the podium, that was a tough race, and shout out to Gareth for the great racing.
Thankfully Mercedes outscored Haas, just gotta do it again in the last race and do it by a lot.

R3 Will and I pulled out and had a huge lead on the pack for several laps and were building on it. Forgot to readjust my ERS and went off at the penultimate corner and about 7 guys went by me.
Fought back and Niblips and I ran together for a bit 1/3 of the race and made up a shytload of ground.
Had a BS drive through penalty from the caution, just like a bunch of other people. Total garbage, but it happens I guess.
Managed to get into 3rd held it for a podium.

Q - 1
Race - 9th or 10 can't remember
Race - Had a lot of wheel spin at the start & dropped to 2nd place behind dale but managed to stay close to him keeping up the pressure for the opening 10 laps or so. Managed to overtake & gained the lead before the first round of pit stops. Just as i do a lap on fresh tyres the safety car comes out but i manage to hold 2nd place. Then a catalogue of errors occured. I spun under the saftey car dropping me from 2nd to last, i had slight damage to the wing so had nothing to lose pitting again under the SC BUT...they put the hard tyres on me! NOOOO! & just to piss me off even more i get a drive through penalty - for what i don't even know!! Anyway i stayed on those tyres for about 35 laps not going anywhere then pitted again for softs just before the end, had some good wheel to wheel action with a few of you but mainly peter. Well done boothy coming from last to first & the rest of the podium guys.

Really enjoyed that last night, the battle with Mitch being a big highlight, not sure how we managed to do most of the middle sector side-by-side before I lost the rear at the end of it but it was fun. More detailed report to come later.

R DNF
Had 2 run in quali and could only post a fairly slow 1.12 which was far from ideal, thought I had a bit more one lap pace but clearly not.
Got a decent launch from the lights and found myself in P7 or there abouts after the traditional 1st corner shunts but was quickly reeled in by Pete and Mitch, I maintained the gap back to Mickey and settled into a good rhythm before the Safety Car carnage, I span whilst chasing down the pack to join the SC queue and had to pit for a new front wing, went out again but was a considerable distance back from the pack, pushed hard to try and regain the lost ground and was closing Mickey down taking 5 or 6 tenths a lap out of his lead but I ran out of talent coming out of the Senna Esses and had to limp round for another new front wing, fitted the medium tyres and found they gave some decent grip and performance and heading towards the closing stages I span again in exactly the same place as last time taking the FLH corner off which ended my race.
Although racing in the back isn't that glamorous I really enjoy the battles that Mickey and a few of the other slow coaches have had this season.
Huge congrats to Boothy for his epic win and well done to Alec and Sean for their podium.

Q 11 (Maybe 10? 1 in front of Dave ) R Last Man Running Had a decent quali run for myself on my 2nd run. I almost hit Peter who had spun inbetween turns 4 & 5. Maybe lost a tenth by going around him. I hope you caught that on your mixer feed, it looked like I missed you by inches from my view. Had an ok start but got caught out when many people checked up early going into turn 6 on lap 1. I dove to the outside and just tapped Mitch's rear end who was also off track there. My apologizes Mitch if I caused any of your early issues. I had medium front left wing damage and thought I could make it last until my first pit stop. After 10 laps I had lost 15 seconds to Mike and Dave and decided to come in to change the nose and put on Mediums. My first mistake of the afternoon,I should have done this much sooner. Then the safety car came out... My delta was over 15 seconds when it first came up, so I slowed way down and it was dropping rapidly. With my delta around 5 seconds, the delta message went away and my engineer and the on screen message said to catch the safety car queue. This was coming out of the last turn, so I just blasted up the hill and immediately got the drive thru penalty. It said I had two laps to serve it. My 2nd mistake of the afternoon... I attempted to serve the drive thru under the safety car, which apparently is not allowed. I didn't drive straight thru, I automatically pit and changed onto softs again, WAY to early. From here on out it was two stints on the softs. Just getting out of the way of all the blue flags which caused me to lose even more time to the guys I was attempting to catch. Shame as I seemed to have pace of the other back markers. Really glad I finished.

Messed up my final qualifying run coming out of turn 4 so had to settle for 9th with a 1:11.0, some way from my best. Race was going really well and I enjoyed a nice bit of racing with my old nemesis here Gareth and once I got past him I had similar pace to Karl and Sean in that first stint and was running comfortably in the top 6 until that damn SC 🤬. Came in straight away stacked up momentarily behind my team mate but then whilst trying to catch up wth the queue as instructed kept getting the delta warnings but I didn't get any penalty notification so assumed all was good. Then with all the concertina effect back and forth I ended up lightly rear ending Sean when he had to pull up suddenly so not only did I get a drive through penalty but also a damaged front wing. Did the drive through on the second lap after restart but my times were down due to the damage and Karl and Sean pulled away swiftly and I fell back onto the radar of several behind. Kind of in no-mans land because pitting would have meant still needing a further stop so I just soldiered on. Had a spin at the tight right hander in sector 2 which enabled those behind to close up and then when I eventually pitted I was held up for another bloody penalty for who knows what before they changed my tyres and also fixed my wing. So by the time I got back out was down in 11th place 😒🙄. Had some fun with Max after his final stop but with him on fresh softs and me on mediums I couldn't hang on for long and he gradually pulled away. Then at the end when Will pitted for softs and got past me I somehow was able to hang onto him until the end and even had drs on him a few times but never had the exit from the last corner that I needed to get close enough to attempt a pass. Unbeknownst to me he had a penalty so by sticking close I was able to grab an extra point.
Disappointing result when I was looking good for a top 6 finish and important points in the constructors but this place is always fun so that's some consolation.
