Please post here anything relating to tuning these cars or any general advice that may help others.
There is a general Tuning area of the forum for pCars tuning, etc. but anything I find here that I feel would be of benefit to other series as well I will also post to that forum so it's accessible to all.

Newcomers or people struggling with FOV or even Look to Apex, there are many seat adjustments that can be made.
In Options, you have to map them and it's a bit of a pain compared to how straight forward Assetto is with this. Set your FOV First and then adjust the seat.
Seat adjustments: Forward/Backward Up/Down Tilt Up/Tilt Down

Seat adjustments: Forward/Backward Up/Down Tilt Up/Tilt Down I can't remember how it works in Assetto but I think having the adjustments mapped at least means you can physically see what each adjustment is doing while in your car.

Assetto doesn't really save, but you can do it easily at the start without having to map anything.
If just using a wheel, you may have to map a couple times to get it right since it takes upwards of 6 new buttons.

The mapping enables you to view how the changes effect the view rather then hopping in and out of the setting screens.

That's what Assetto does, you do it in the car. But yeah, it is good to be able to see them rather than guessing.

I don't use anything fancy myself, just a simple $10 wired keyboard. I have all the seat settings, headlights, wipers, and a few other things mapped to it in case I need to use anything on the fly.

Same here.. I have a lot of things mapped to that including the seat, pit in, brake balance, arbs, etc. My only problem is I don't have it in an optimum place to use yet properly without taking my eyes off the road and need a better set of stickers for the keys. It is really handy though and makes the limit to the number of buttons we have less of a problem.

One day hopefully I'll have a button box, or at least a keyboard. Hoped MS would updated their consoles for full peripheral support. It's ridiculous we can only use maybe half the buttons.
A couple FOV videos may be helpful for anyone tinkering with it. Accurate FOV obviously isn't mandatory. However, a sim rig setup with the monitor close to the wheel benefits massively from the right FOV. Look to Apex is a different story and is completely user preference. In PCars 2, Look to Apex is *only* available in Helmet cam.

For those ok Xbox and not Xbox One X, go through your graphics settings and turn a lot of the trivial stuff down or off in Movement/Camera (can't remember the exact name of that menu, but it is in options).

My issue isn't with the Xbox but the wheel itself which doesn't have near enough buttons to accommodate all the things we can map these days. My wheel has the A, B, X, Y buttons and the 4 way D-Pad. It does have a switch as well but this just duplicates one of the other buttons (A I think) and the two buttons on the rear of the wheel just duplicates the gear levers. I think that's it.

Yeah, quite a few as well as all the switches and dials on the F1 rim. Even if I had a box, I don't have room for it and even had to get rid of my hand brake because it was too much for my stand.

And you can't map them?

You can, but they're all redundant. RT is throttle, LT is brake, LSB is shift down and so on. It's a console problem. PS4 isn't as bad, but has similar issues. Sucks lol

Sucks lol Ah ok that's the same for me then with duplicated inputs. The mini usb keyboard does help with that but it just needs locating somewhere easily accessible to make it really useful. I am going to try to look at securing it better as currently it's just free standing on a temporary stand by my seat so requires looking away to select the buttons. Apart form the seat movement which I only really use when standing still, I pretty much just use it for Pit In at the moment as that button is a big one and easy to hit without looking lol.

Lol Brake bias is a good one to map. Wish you could map fuel, not sure why they left that out.

Easy exercise to practice race starts with the goal of all 16 getting though the first couple of turns/laps cleanly.
Set it to full race in Quick Race so the driver and AI have full tanks.
FULL Damage in Options/Settings.
15 AI opponents.
Starting position, Random or manually move around.
AI 100/100. The speed and aggression is important.
Practice until you can get through every time with no damage or without inflicting damage. That's the #1 Goal. After that, work on not losing spots and maybe even over taking.
The accurate saying goes: You cant win a race on the first lap, but...
It's a great exercise and you can restart it easily indefinitely.

In sound options, you can turn up the volume of the car (other than engine and tires). It will help you easily hear if you're bottoming out anywhere as the telemetry doesn't show it as readily. One or two of the TT ghost cars are bottoming in sector 2 and that will be worse with more than the 5L of fuel that TT cars have. Trying to help since it would be cool to eventually start competing with the fastest teams online. Some of the TT cars also have standard brake ducts. Operating temp on steel brakes is 300F to 600F. Everyone wants to compete obviously, but anything we can do to help each other build speed and consistency is a good thing.
