I am a bit confused by this but perhaps I am just not understanding... if the pole man is only able to drive at 75 surely the following cars have to stick to the same speed otherwise they'll overtake him and end up penalised for that anyway? No. Formation lap, space builds a bit. It isn't malicious, but it does just to avoid damage. 75mph is such a long lap that it happens. The pole is much tougher to hold it. And the race start is very easy for all but pole. So, as long as you keep your position, you can get into the throttle early and get a running start. Set up an offline with AI and put yourself in 2nd and you'll get a better idea. However, the AI sticks together closer than a human opponent does. If I am on pole vs AI, I can't get as good of a run at the start as I can if I am in 2nd, 3rd, or 4th. It's a little wonky. Putting it on Auti start would fix all of it, other than the excruciating formation lap for the pole sitter. Neale and I practiced the formation lap a bit and noticed some of this stuff. Can't say as i've noticed that.. We used to run auto start but the reason we abandoned them was because what we found was that people got control back at slightly different times and there was some control issues and we had multiple incidents spoiling people's races right at the start as a result. If it's a problem we'll look into a possible solution.

Yeah, that one creates its own problems. A standing start that is set by the game so there are real false starts is the best way to ensure nothing goofy happens. Granted, this series doesn't do standing starts, but I feel like most people prefer those anyway.
Either way, it is a great series and will be a lot of fun.
Spoke to Dave a little about a time modifier for the races other than Le Mans. We are simulating a real 6 hour race in 1.5 hours. So, a 3X or 5X modifier would be more realistic than running it Real time. That way we get a little bit of a transition into night and that's always pretty cool. It isnt so much that you need to adjust tire pressures like you may need to at Le Mans, so that's an added bonus.
I think we had some confusion for how the multiplier could work outside of a 24 Hour race. But there are a lot to select from. For instance, a 1 Hour simmed 24 Hour Race would be 24X. A 30 Min simmed 24 Hour race would be 48X. A 1.5 hour simmed 6 hour race would be 4X (I think only 3X or 5X are offered), but the races are a hair under 1.5 hours, so 3X may be perfect.
It's a really good feature that we could take advantage of and since every single race is 6 Hours, it's straight forward.

I agree that we can implement the time multiplier for our endurance races in the future, I did discuss with Sean that it was something we could put into the next season of Sportscar races that we do, unless we put it in this series at this point? Can we change the conditions of the championship after it’s started or do we think it would add some more realism to our series? If we do change this do we need to revise the distances that the races run? the races other than Le Mans are all 250kms do we’d have to change these races from laps to timed events, I think that this could be an exciting and challenging addition to our series but I think we have the basis of a really good championship at this point and we can use this in the next WEC series in the future

Distances, just leave them since they're good. I'd prefer longer since it is endurance, but that's not a big deal. They are all about 1.5 Hours long, except for Le Mans. So, use a 5X multiplier for time since 4 isnt an option in the game.
Officially, they are 6 Hour races. It will make it the most realistic possible with these distances.
Wish I'd spoken up more earlier, but I was under the impression all WEC races had different distances. But, that was from IMSA (6 Hours of Sebring WEC vs 1000 Miles for IMSA).

That's really cool, Tyler. I remember a pretty tight train of you, Micko, Gurt, and one other. Can't remember who, Pop Belly maybe.
Really a fun series and these cars can take some damage. Not 100+ mph head on into a wall damage, but some damage.lol

The first lap and a half from my pov: I love that your prefers view is helmet cam like myself. I’ve gotta say it makes in-car footage appear so much more lifelike and the best IMO. The visibility you get of other cars in such a small FOV is brilliant and it opens up your view so so much. Great vid dude!!

You'll all be bunched up if I'm on Pole as we'll be doing 10mph down the start finish straight. There's no minimum speed...

The first lap and a half from my pov: At 43 seconds on the second video you had contact from your team mate. Weirdly in the video there’s nobody there and both angles show your car receiving impact on its own 🤷🏼♂️😂

Lag and syncing can cause things to look very different depending on what perspective you are seeing it from. But no doubt the game does do some weird things with regard to damage.

I can finally see my Motec now after I released for my FOV. It was quite a bit off. Much better now. At least until the woman gets back from China and I'm back to sitting in a corner 13 feet back lol But yeah, Tyler has his set really well. FOV is everything in order to get a natural feel for brake markers etc.

Yeah I agree that helmet cam is the best way in this game. I have run that for some time and combined with the FOV change does add greatly to the realism. Having got back to the game for the first time for a while last night I was struggling and the tight corners still have me searching for the right line from this view but I do enjoy it more. The foreshortening effect is still a bit strange to me though....
Did about 18 laps last night and ended up with a best of 2:19.286 which places me just a tenth back of the slower AI set at 100/100 and a second off the fastest. Hopefully will get that down some over the next sessions.

That's a serviceable time, no doubt. It's a tricky track. Watching footage online, their scans nailed it. They even have the bumps on curbs in the right spots. Pretty impressive. It may be a better scan than Assetto's!
Once FOV is set, there are a lot of options to change seating position and that can make or break your view. In some cars, I essentially use dash cam.
One thing I noticed in all these games is some cars have better visibility than others. That adds a lot to realism. One car may be absurdly fast, but you can't see anything.lol
Drove a NASCAR many years ago and with the neck helmet/neck strapped, I'm still in disbelief how anyone can see out of them.lol

Also, if anyone was running rsDash and can send me the race data I can include all the individual details rather than just the bog standard results.
