The Pcars Vintage F1 league is running the '72 Lotus season soon, so I thought it would be fun to compare this car in both games.
Either game, both games, whatever..if there is a fun combo, please post up.
No money is won, but everyone gets a Participation Trophy.
Lotus 72D, Red Bull Ring
(1:30.58 in Assetto, missed shift at the start of the new lap, so just saved it)

There are a ton of combos that can be done here.
My Assetto time may have benefited from me thinking this car was a 4 speed.lol Both developers did their homework on these, it's pretty incredible how similarly they drive.

In our tests for the upcoming season i've actually only been using the first 4 gears on some tracks and just using 5th when overtaking. Dropping the extra gear has kept the revs better balanced and the drive feels smoother and less rushed.

Had my first go at this TT event. Just put in 3 laps at the end of my Willow Springs test in pCars 2 and will try to get a time in on Assetto tomorrow.
PCars 2 - 1:29.719.
Lap 3 of this recording was the best, each a bit faster than the one before... Track felt really slippery. Think something in the 1:27 range should be in reach with a few more laps and a bit of setup adjustment. Lost a fair bit of time at the start of sector 3 at that blind left-hander

The link isn't working to your recording, but I can get to it on the App. Excited to try it. Really love that track!

Fun little track, only driven it once before in pCars so it will be interesting to see how it feels in Assetto where I have never driven it as far as I can remember. You were faster in Assetto so it will be interesting to see if I am faster in that game too.

Edit: was thinking this was Willow Springs. Never mind
Really nice lap!

Really nice laps, plural!
I felt like I was faster with the H shifter and clutch because it didn't bog as much, but you're exiting the corners with a LOT more speed. That has nothing to do with my shifting. Will give this a shot later today, it's really a fun car track combo.

Any thoughts on something here again to get back into a bit of Assetto fun?
The chat about the new game release got me thinking about giving thev original some time over the next couple of months and with the lack of interest for anything multiplayer this seems the most likely way to get some time with it.

Sure! I forgot to post that I did get your PCars Lotus ghost finally.lol. We can go back and forth with that one or anyone can certainly start a new one. There are tons of great combos between the games.

If you preorder it, you get the Intercontinental GT pack with Bathurst, Laguna, Suzuka, one other and some extra cars. I haven't played it on PC or raced anything PC in a couope years, but I do know ACC has a much more involved MP focus. ACC looks really good:

Had my first Assetto run tonight.. oh boy I had forgotten how cluncky and unintuitive the interface was. I sure hope ACC is put together 1000 times better.
Anywy, Lotus 72D at Red Bull - 1:30.080 On my final lap I was smashing it and heading for a 1:29.4 only to lose the backend out of the penultimate corner.Sill, happy enough with that first attempt although I did run a bit deep at turn 3 so left a fair bit still on the table.
Here's the recording from the cockpit and trackside camera's. There's a blank pause halfway through as I reversed the video to get back to the start of the lap for the trackside view:-
I'll have to give pCars 2 another go now as my recording of that race on Twitch has now gone.
Also I think time for a new challenge so I'll look at setting something in the next day or so.

Project Cars 2 - Lotus 72D at Red Bull Ring - 1:27.275
You set a good time here Sean.. took me a few laps to get to it.
Having now driven this in both games I would say the Assetto version feels much heavier and as a result more planted and not so quick on turn-in. The pCars version is much more nimble and oversteery. Both are fun to drive though.

Nice Very good runs, Peter. Do you want to set another one up? Or we can run this one indefinitely until someone gets close to a WR. Lmao
Yeah, the interface and bells and whistled of Assetto are severely lacking. The physics are still phenominal, though. It feels much more like a real car. You don't feel many Gs in the wheel until you really start to push it. Then the wheel progressively tightens up. If you haven't tried the V12 Ferrari, give that a shot. It's my favorite open wheel car in any game by a large margin.

I would set the next but I always lean towards the vintage cars so if your have a preference for something else go for it. I need to look at what tracks are in both games...
Monza Historic, Me nza, Brands Hatch, Silverstone, Nordschleife, Nurburgring, Laguna Seca, Red Bull Ring, Spa... That's it isn't it?
I would quite like to have something at Laguna Seca as that track doesn't get utilised much and it's one of my real world favourites.
I would have loved something different like the Shelby Cobra but pCars doesn't have it. Do you know what vintage type cars are common to both games? Is the Ford GT40 in both games the same?

Yes, it is the same car. There are quite a few vintage cars that translates. Mercedes Sauber C9 group C, Ferrari 250 GT, Ford GT, a couple of the A class cars are fun (the M3 Group A is great), and there are also several of the bonkers fast Porsches. The 1970s 1,000hp+ open air beast is a handful. I want to say it is the 915, but not positive. It is the CanAm car in PC2.
