*MOST IMPORTANT* if you are anyone but the host, after Qualifying a big red button will come up that says "Return to Race Central" (or something close to that)...Do NOT click that. It will take you back to the home screen.
Important settings to help Awareness, frame rates, etc:
Main menu, Options. That's where just about everything is.
Gameplay Authenticity and On Screen Guides & Display
Things to turn ON: Authentic Assists Pit Crew/Pit Lane visual marker Proximity arrows Engineer/Spotter to Always (at least for multiplayer) Manual Start/Formation Lap
Graphics Settings
At the top, there are 3 overall options: Enhanced visuals, frame rate or resolution. If not on Xbox One X, probably best to put it on enhanced Frame Rate. All the other graphics settings are optional, but the more you turn off the better.
In the actual game, Look to Apex is a function that is also in F1. It only works in HELMET cam. So, one way to be sure you're in helmet is to use your normal FOV there and for Cockpit, set a crazy FOV. That way if it accidentally changes, you'll know immediately.
Pit Stops.. practice making adjustments on the fly etc. Nothing can really be taught there, just takes practice.
Pit Limiter Button..there are pros and cons to having it mapped. Whatever you have it set on, just leave it. Messing with it will inevitably lead to a DQ. It's happened to most all of us at one point or another.
Force Feedback..Informative tends to feel "better" than Raw. My basic settings are 50 50 75 25
I'm sure I'm leaving out some things, but that's all I can think of.
Peter/Dave, feel free to move the thread, I just wanted to make sure anyone that needs this stuff will be able to see it

One more thing, you can cycle your HUD by clicking Left. There are 4 separate screens and 2 are completely customizable.
If you can see the speedo in your car, you can disable that and it cleans it up a bit, too.
Virtual Mirror can be turned on or off and must be enabled at the Home screen options for Display settings, I think

Excellent post Sean. I think I'll leave it here so it's clear and easy for everyone to see.
Those Enhanced, Framerate and Resolution options are only for the One X users from what I can remember but Karl can confirm that. It would have made sense to add them into the original box as well as that's the one that most needs those adjustments.
Although I do have the virtual mirror on I always make sure i've got the glance behind option mapped as well as it gives a much better indication of distance then the mirror that makes it look like a car is a long way back when in fact it is just a coupe of cars length away. If course it depends whether you have the buttons spare but even when I didn't have a keypad it was still one of those things I kept available.

Agree, anything that helps Awareness is a must. The frame rate thing is unfortunate, but at least there are several graphics settings that can be turned down and those also help a lot.
You can also cycle your different delta times by Right clicking on the directional pad: Previous Lap Fastest Lap Potential Lap
That delta by default is just below the virtual mirror.

Player Names/Gamer Tags. Turn them On by default in the main settings. You can map a button to turn them On and Off. It comes in handy to know who is around you, etc

Yeah I always have that turned on.. generally leave it at fastest lap but it's good to have the options. I have mine lower on the screen as I found it sometimes was unviewable where it was by default due to the colours.

It's definitely nice to be able to custom move everything. I had a couple things low and in the middle, but they disrupted my view if the proximity arrows.

So, I turned all the graphic stuff off that i could, but it's very minimal on the older xbox. The only options are: Post-processing Filters Exterior Sun Flare Interior Sun Flare Bloom Heat Haze Exposure Compensation - didn't change this Rain Drops Vignette Crepuscular Rays Screen Dirt Cockpit mirrors And even after turning all that stuff off i still had issues when i introduced a lot of AI to the race. It seems in my offline sessions in the GTE car that i don't have any problem with tyre temp or handling until about 23 AI , but in our race on Saturday there were tyre temp issues and other handling with only 16 on the grid. I did some further testing yesterday in LeMans and found that the tyre temps were down about 15 degrees C. It makes the twisty bits in the third sector extremely difficult to negotiate without spinning. The front tyres were as low as 56C There doesn't seem to be anything i can do about it, so i'll just see how the next race at LeMans goes.... if it's too impossible to drive i'll have to drop this series and let someone else take my place.

I guess the extra processing for an online race is why there is the difference in numbers between AI and human drivers. It's much more for the processor to have to calculate because of the ping, etc.
If you remember though I also had some issues at LeMans and never got anywhere near my offline race times so it's not entirely down to the original box. I just think that there are some little glitches that can effect anyone at any time. Hopefully things are better going forward. I do wonder though with the huge LeMans track, changing conditions and a full grid whether there might be some problems.

The post processing filters etc. being turned off should hopefully help a little. In offline practice for our leagues, I just add 15 AI to make it a 16 person lobby. Really hope you dont have to drop it. The cold tires are something I also noticed. I chalked that up to the tune, cloudy weather and long straights that cool everything off. Adding toe will increase tire temps, as will lowering the initial tire pressure. In a circuit this long, there are a lot of compromises. Run the tires really hot in the first sectors and then have them work well in the 3rd, or sacrifice them to cold tires in the 3rd sector. In my initial testing, my tires are as much as 30C less than they were at Spa. Make sure your brakes are in the correct window, too. They affect tire temps. 300C is the minimum for these cars and 600C is the Max. So adjust your ducts to get into that window and you are familiar with bias and adjusting that from F1 etc

That's probably not unique.

Definitely a case of the games physics not working the same for everyone.

Do you guys run the same brake bias as well as ducts?
