I'll probably wait until they fix the performance on Xbox. Mine is worse as a result of the last patch and i'm probably going to put it to bed until it's fixed. The last two times i've been on its cost me points on my ratings due to the jerkiness of it and that was just in Hotstint mode. Really want to enjoy the game but it's difficult with how they have done it. So poorly optimised and not thought out at all on console. G-portal is also atrocious, it didn't recognise my password and when I try to reset it by using the link on the website it sends me a link and I have to input my old password to set a new one... Hellooooo.. that's why I'm trying to reset it!!
Seem to remember another game that many (myself included) put away until it was fully and (mostly) properly baked, that one worked out pretty well. Hopefully ACC turns out okay too.

Well, I gave the game another try on Tuesday evening and in all honesty I have to say after this latest attempt my feelings are that this is possibly the least ready for release game I have ever come across. So many problems that are getting in the way of the real enjoyment that it so clearly deserves. You can feel how good it is underneath but with so many issues to overcome it's just so difficult to actually enjoy it.
Performance wise I am still struggling hugely. It just feels so slow as a result and I am really struggling with the steering as it feels as though what I do doesn't translate accurately to what the car does. I have ended up off track more times this last few times in the game than in any game at any time lol. My ratings have steadily declined ever since the update because of this lack of accuracy and at the moment I don't feel like it is worth continuing with it until the next patch is released because it just ends up an exercise in frustration which takes away from any of the enjoyment I might get.
This last session I started off with an AI race at Kyalami and it was pretty horrible. Multiple spins and offs and understeering through corners and off the track that the last time I drove here was fine. I had it set to accelerated time and once it started to get dark that was it. With the lights still not fixed it became a nightmare to negotiate the track let alone any other cars. How on earth can they release something with such a basic problem!! It just cannot have been tested. what other way can it have got through. I ended up abandoning the race with my ratings having dropped in all areas as a result of the problems.
I then decided to try some multiplayer with their matchmaking system. It put me straight into a race at Laguna Seca with about 5 laps remaining and immediately gave me a drive through whilst I was sat still in the car!!! Is that how it is meant to work? you are entered into an already under way race.. what is the point of that for goodness sake!! I got another drive through once I had served that one, for what reason I have no clue but I finished the race and then tried again. This time I was at Silverstone at the end of a quali session and just had enough time to set one lap which put me second on the grid. Great I thought, at least now I can have a full race.. move up to the line all ready to go and as soon as the race has started I get ploughed into from behind before the we have even moved 20 metres and am dumped off track!! Of course I get the collision warning and reminded that my rating could be effected.. what a load of cobblers!! Public lobbies clearly have not changed a bit. Anyway, I decided to carry on and have some decent laps but also another few spins and at the end my SA goes up by a single digit but a couple of the others have dropped :/
So disappointing. I was enjoying it all much more before the patch and although the wheel issues were fixed I would rather be having to do the workaround each time and still have a game that I could play. I was having some good racing wit the AI pre-patch but now it's just too frustrating.
Not much posted here lately so I would be interested to hear how everyone else is getting on.
Cheers

I've been playing it more and more recently and I'm really enjoying it. The last patch fixes most of the handling issues and although there is still a good bit of work to do here, it's now playable. I've not has too many issues with the display of it - I have to use the bonnet cam as the cockpit view is too tight for me. I'm using a One X so that may be a factor too right enough. I've got my numbers up in the low eighties and my SA at 48. This for me at least is the hardest to get up when in public lobbies. I had a great race a few days ago with the guy I was racing pinging me a message afterwards saying he enjoyed it to. Stick with it if you can. I'm on the Kunos discord server and there is meant to be a further update released this week with career mode fixes, stability improvements and some other smaller things.

Yeah once I uninstalled and reinstalled it was much better but performance wise it's still not good. It's just about manageable for now whereas before the reinstall it was horrendous and I simply could not play it.
I'm 90 on CN, 85 on CC and 87 on TR but my SA is still only 38 as that dropped several points during the periods I was trying to play while it was performing so poorly. I've only been in 4 or 5 online races so far as each time i've come across idiots that use other cars as brakes and you end up getting penalised as well. So I'm going to build up my SA a bit more offline before trying again. Also don't like how it dumps you into the middle of a race sometimes!!
Handling wise though it is brilliant. More depth and feel then pCars I think.

So it looks like the patch should be out on Thursday but there's nothing in what 505 posted about the frame rate and performance issues on the 1X. However, I saw on the ACC sub reddit that a 505 employee posted on their Discord it's fixed in the patch so we'll see. acc.505games.com/acc-console-update-september-2020/

Let's hope so Adam. Also fingers crossed that whatever they fix doesn't beak something else.
Good to see that they are fixing the headlights at last but no mention of the keyboard mapping being implemented.

So far it's been pretty positive since the update. Hoping that the customisation screens become unlocked soon.
Give it a go as the frames per second have improved too.

Have to agree on the update being a positive. Frame rate was incredibly steady for me and only noticed a drop once. Also a huge improvement with the headlights driving at night so they're actually useful now. I would say I'm now at the point where I would no longer tell people to wait and see on this and say it's definitely worth buying. Just too bad they didn't release the game like this, have to imagine delaying a few months to get to this point would have at the very least helped with the perception of it being a broken game if not improved sales.

Yeah I agree that it's been improved and is more steady now in terms of framerate. It's still not great though but at least more stable.
I like the changes to the front end and it's good to finally see the special events area changed. Let's hope that's a regular thing and not just whenever a patch is released.
Disappointed though that FoV and keyboard mapping are still missing.
Has anything changed with the way pit stop strategies are accessed? I couldn't see anywhere that this could be done pre-race like we can with pCars unless I'm missing something? .

I just had another go and it is definitely improved but still a long way to go to be anywhere close to the smoothness of pCars. I find the sense of speed lacking with it in comparison to pCars although that may also be to do with the car's which are more tank-like than what we are used to racing with.
I'm still struggling to get my ratings up and am currently at PC70, CC84 CN 77 and TR80. The CC and CN have taken quite a hit as both were around 90 before the last patch which I struggled so much after I installed it. Hopefully, they can both be back to that level over the coming weeks. Does anyone know how high the ratings go?

In the setup screen on the tab where you choose your tyre set and brakes you can setup your pitstops in the bottom half of that screen. I've only done races where you change tyres and haven't done refueling but you can setup your tyre pressures and what tyre set you want as well as how much fuel you want if you're refueling. You can then do this for multiple stops. Seems really useful especially if you're doing a race that's transitioning from day to night or vice versa to have your pressures pre-set. On a side note, does anyone not know the ideal range for tyres or how to figure it out? I've been meaning to ask because there's a big difference if you don't have the tyres in the ideal range and as with most things in this game it is not explained anywhere within the game and you have to either figure it out on your own or have someone tell you.

I'm just going to go ahead and post this video and recommend people watch this as well as the follow ups. He works for Kunos and specifically on the vehicle dynamics for ACC and he has some really great videos. I haven't had a chance to watch all of them but any of his videos I've watched have been very informative.

Brilliant, thanks for that Adam. It was one of the things bugging me and I just hadn't spotted where it was so in the few races that required a stop I wad trying to shoo it in the fly which is a nightmare lol They really should have some sort of explanation of things as anyone new coming tho this game will just not have a clue about so many things in it. On the subject of tyres i'm pretty sure that Sean mentioned 26psi as being the ideal target for tyres but i'm sure i've seen something about that so will try to dig it out and post back if I find it.

I've found that my numbers are dropping too. My CC has dropped from 83 to 76 - I wouldn't say I'm doing anything different so it's a bit annoying. The ratings max out at 99 as far as I know. Will be giving it a go tonight hopefully so if you're around then lets try to have a session

I've found doing short test sessions has been the biggest thing to make my scores drop especially CN and CC. I was trying out different cars and they both dropped quite a bit. Due to that I've started turning the ratings off when I'm trying something new so I don't get a big decrease. I started my career over on a harder difficulty with the Audi and my CN went from the low 80s to 88 and my CC went from the high 70s to 81 or 82 just from the first two races at Zolder.

Well i'm glad i'm not alone in this problem of the ratings dropping. It's proving a real struggle to get them back where they were so maybe they've changed something in that respect. I'd like to get my CC and CN back on equal ground which is where they were before patch 1 at around 90.
I'll probably try to get on in a bit but not sure how we get on together and without some numpties joining in as well. The lack of private lobbies without having to pay through the nose is really annoying. I'm not prepared to pay 17 quid for something like that when there are still so many issues to be ironed out. Maybe in another 3/4 months if they fix the main problems like FoV, keyboard mapping and further optimisation it might be worth looking down that route. My guess is it will take that long to get the patches out to address those things.

Just had a fun but also frustrating hour in the game, didn't see you around Richard? I found the pit stop area Adam but it's still a bit sh!t as you can only select tyres, pressures and fuel but not any damage, etc. You still have to do that on the fly. I did the first race in my career and the race 1 of the weekend went ok, no hitches but race 2 was pain. I completed it only to find that I got disqualified at the end. No idea why, no reason given just placed me 16th with a DSQ against my name. It's a mandatory pit stop which I made so I was totally confused. I restarted and noted on the screen before the start that the mandatory pit stop required a driver swap. I selected the driver to swap to and off I went to start the race. The pit limiter stuck on at the start so I lost several places but all was good because it enabled me the make the overtakes that were required to pick up bonus points. Had a really good race, nice, clean overtakes and no mistakes so was surprised to note that my CN had dropped by a point two thirds of the way through. Anyway, another frustration was that at my pit stop I exited the pit box and part way down the pit lane the engine cut-off and then wouldn't come back on. After about ten seconds I finally managed to get it restarted and came out in 14th place!! Once the other cars had pitted I was ahead by a couple of seconds and proceeded to pull away over the remainder of the race to cross the line with a lead of about 8 seconds. Great, a nice career start I thought and waited for the screen to click up my points, etc. But no.. yet again I was placed 16th with a DSQ against my name. Wtf is going on I can only think it's something to do with this driver swap thing but I felt I had done what was needed but it's all bloody untintiitive with no explanation. Can anyone throw any light in this. It's so frustrating. I really want to love this game and enjoy it in many ways but it throws so many curveball that it's much easier to give it up as a bad job and hope that 6 months down the line it's worth trying again.

This is just another great case of the game not explaining what you actually need to be doing. So at least in the first season of the career you have the one mandatory pit stop which has to be done during the pit window and you have to change tyres and swap drivers. Depending on how long the race is determines when the pit window is but if you're doing a 1 hour race the pit window will open at 35 minutes left and close at 25 minutes left. Your engineer/spotter should tell you when it's opened.
What I've found best is to make sure I have the driver swap setup during the formation of the grid so I don't have to mess with it during the race and I always keep the damage repair set to on which I believe it does by default. It is also possible you sped in the pit lane and I believe that might DQ you as well. I used to have the pit limiter set to auto but I re-mapped all of my buttons when the wheel support was patched and over the weekend was the first time I had done a race in the game with it set to manual and I didn't have a problem setting it and getting out. I've also read posts on the ACC subreddit about if you're in the last pit box and you have the the pit limiter set to auto you can somehow trigger speeding in the pits but I've never had that happen and I've had it set to auto while being in the last pit box. It really doesn't make any sense why you aren't notified of getting a penalty when it happens for pit lane infractions but that's what they've chosen to do and it's frustrating.

I mentioned in one of my previous posts I switched to the Audi and man is that thing fast. I tried it out on Kyalami where I had already broken the posted track record in the Ferrari by a few hundredths and on the 4th push lap in the Audi and I went 2 tenths quicker than I ever had in the Ferrari. Only problem is the damn car will absolutely try and kill you if you aren't extremely precise. My first two career races in it I was pretty quick but had a handful of half spins and even spun on the last corner of the last lap of the first race to fall from 1st to 6th. The second race went much smoother and I won it by a comfortable margin even after slowing on the last 2 laps so I didn't have to do an extra lap because it was getting late and I was tired. Second race weekend at Brands Hatch has been a nightmare, I was only able to qualify 8th barely even getting in a clean lap but the 2nd qualifying went better and I set a PB by over a second and qualified 3rd. Today is a holiday so I tried to get the first race in this morning before I had places to go, I'm not great around Brands Hatch to begin with but both tries I put in were a fucking disaster so I gave up.
I'm off work all week so there's a good chance I'll be on during the day here if anyone sees me on and wants to try and get in a lobby. The only day I probably won't be on is Wednesday because even though I'm off there's one thing I have to do so I'll be working for a few hours that day.
