Just managed to get a short practice in here as I know I will struggle to get much time in over the next couple of weeks. Such a fun but ultimately dangerous track. I'm in the low 1:08 range on full fuel after this brief test so hope to find some more time and get into the 1:07's with a bit more time and setup tweaking. I don't usually work much on quali setups but the tight nature of this track means that starting position can be crucial to avoid early incidents so I will look at that once I am settled on race setup. Well shit, appreciate the invite mate! Lol I was at work anyways, wouldn't have been able to even if I wanted. Couldnt get to sleep before work tonight (shocker) so I took about 45 minutes to get back up to speed with long Beach again, last time I turned laps here was a while ago after one of the WEC races with Dave and a few others for some practice. It's honest-to-god surprising to me how well these cars seem to mesh into this track. Sniped Dave's TT setup and after a couple little tweaks to fuel and tire pressures I managed a 1:08.9 on the blacks, haven't tried the reds yet but I'd guess 1:07s easily on those. I like to have these cars quick on the blacks before I even touch the reds, that way I don't end up with a quick car on reds that suffers on the blacks so we'll see what we get tomorrow/later today after some more testing That’s quite an old set up so I’m glad you like it, I’ve done a fair bit of engineering for this event and I’m running high 1:05’s to low 1:06’s in quali trim and high 1:06’s to mid 1:07’s in race trim, I’m looking forward to this event as it’s the only street circuit in our championship, hopefully there might be a few more in the new release

I had a quick run last night to see what setups i had from last year. Dipped into the 1:07s briefly but not sure if there is more time to find or not without some drastic setup changes.

Although I don't know how you managed to drive it with the 7.0 to 1 steering ratio! Lol with the limited time I had last night i didn't have a ton of running so there's much more to find in my driving lines and the like. Definitely more speed in it and I'd like to give the reds a shot too and see what i can do. I know it's a bit late for you gents in the UK but if anyone wants to run some practice I'm gonna be on for a couple hours before work, I'm gonna hop on in a few minutes

Quick question about the pit speed limiter. Do we have to activate it manually or is it ok on auto? Of course you still have to slow down for the max limit before hitting the line lol. Still learning the ins and outs of the game and league and just want to make sure I'm not doing anything wrong.

Automatic is ok although for me it is really an assist which gives a distinct advantage over anyone not using it. But it's not something we can police or enforce. I understand that some guys have it set to automatic due to the limitation of buttons on their wheels and not having external units to sign more options to.

I'll have a look around in my settings for the wheel and custom button mapping etc. Got a Thrustmaster open wheel rim instead of the F1 rim so I think there is less buttons. But will definitely see what i can do to have it as assist free as possible with the speed limiter

Gents,
After last nights test event I saw a number of drivers crossing the Pit Lane line during the race, as I’m sure you’re aware by now the Pit Lane is not to be used as part of the race track and any driver that consistently cuts across the line to gain an advantage by widening the angle of Turn 1 will be penalised. This policy is to protect drivers exiting the pit lane and rejoining the circuit, if any driver causes an incident by coming into contact with a car leaving the pits then a harsher penalty will be applied.
Cheers
Dave

Not 100% sure if I can make this Race as we've a Family event during the day which I can't get out of (kill me now).
Maybe - Richard - Laird Cake - AJ Foyt Enterprise #41
Take care, Rich

I think I’m definitely going to struggle with this race. I got carried away trying out ACC and now don’t really have much time around work to practice for the race.
I will say it now, sorry if I get in anyone’s way 🤣

I'm gonna take these two messages as a sign that it's worth the investment? I thought about doing the preorder but after all the issues with the initial launch I wanted to wait on it and see what happened

I thought about doing the preorder but after all the issues with the initial launch I wanted to wait on it and see what happened Head on over to the ACC side of this forum for more info Ian. Initially the game looks very much under optimised and dropping to 30fps from what we are used to is tough but if you give the game a chance you soon forget about that and the unsurpassed driving physics take all the focus away from that. Strangely I am finding the performance is actually improved in the races with a full field of AI as opposed to the special events like the hotlaps and hotstints where it's just you on track. The latter seems much more choppy. There are problems with the wheel setup and pretty much everyone has the same problem of their pedals not being recognised but a simple unplug and replug sorts that out and it's one of the priority fixes that are due. I've had some great racing with the AI so far and it's definitely got me hooked. Multiplayer is public lobbies at the moment as private lobbies are still to be sorted out but they are also a priority fix and have been promised to be with us soon. All in all its a great addition to any racing library and probably the truest sim we have on console in terms of the physics involved. I can't get enough of it.

IN Mick Osborne / micko39 / Honda #18 No practice getting into iRacing.
It’s very different with the graphics not up to PC2 standard but the driving experience is sooooo much more realistic. Bit of a ball ache at first with only slow cars allowed up front but this is designed to stop rookies getting into a fast car and screwing up races. I now have a C licence which allows me into GT3 / GTE cars which are incredible to drive. Have my first endurance race on Sunday, 3 hrs at Lemans 24hr circuit in teams of 2 or 3 drivers in one car.
