Q P7 R P3
First off congrats to Karl on the win and Dave for finishing 2nd you guys were both incredibly fast. Also shout out to Liam for being incredibly fast as well but having his race ruined by issues with the game when he definitely would have finished on the podium if not won.
Was a little disappointed to only manage P7 in qualifying but everyone was so quick and everyone was at least in the 1:11's so 7th ended up being pretty good. My plan was to start on blacks and run as long as I could to shorten the rest of my stints on reds but with the issues we had getting starting and then starting on a green track I didn't even think about changing my strategy to run the blacks later when the track rubbered in. The first few laps I was really struggling but finally got into a groove on them running in the mid 14s before I had a half spin then a few laps later had a spin which dropped me down to 9th. I moved up a couple spots through the rest of the first stint but really struggled in the second half of the stint lapping in the 15s and 16s. After the first stop and putting reds on I just wanted to take advantage of when others would have blacks on and to make up as much time as I could. I got Peter after he had an off on the blacks then Liam after he had his issue and had to pit twice to fix his damage. I was able to close in on Dan as we were about to make our 2nd stops and I was able to jump him in the pits with the overcut. From there it was just trying to keep it clean to the rest of the way but having a couple small offs and a half spin but had the pace to keep it in 3rd.
Overall a pretty weird night with all the issues we had with getting everyone in and disconnects. Really hope everyone can make the 500 in two weeks and we can hopefully avoid these issues that are out of anyone's hands since it should be a great race.

Q- 13th R- 9th
Qualify started well but couldnt find the limit enough to show in my laptimes. As the race started the car felt stable and fairly quick so i just tagged along at a small distance keeping the gap to the leader at around 30-35seconds and was just ticking laps away while remaining consistent. A good first stint came crashing down when i apparently had a mechanical problem while in the pits and they didnt fit freshies. Lost almost 2 laps but had to pit again to fit new tires so ended up 3 laps behind and just went for consistency and clean laps. Few bad flat spots and a couple decent clean stints later i brought her home in 9th and last (6 laps down). The mechanical problem and tire error is what destroyed my rhythm more than anything but overall im happy with how my consistency has improved. The blacks bite hard if you make a minor error. Now onto the big one 😲 getting lots of practice in

Q - 11th R - 7th After a very close qualifying I was happy to have been within 2 tenths of the cars ahead and was looking forward to a good race. The race start took a bit of getting organised due to connection issues and timeouts but when we got going I was happy for a clean start and keeping out of trouble. After a few others had dropped it on cold tyres I was running a solid 7th for my first stint before pitting. Second stint was on the reds which is where I really found my rhythm. I was up to 4th for a few laps while others were pitting and I was being super consistent with clean laps and traffic management. First and only stint on the prime tyres was horrible. It took a few laps to get heat into them and re-learn my braking points. I feel I spent too long on these tyres and it cost me too much time overall. That said, I was able to keep it pointing the right way (mostly!) with little or no drama. Last stint on the reds and I was filled to go to the end. At this point I was in 7th with a 15/20 second gap or so to Wayne in front. I was able to get this down with some pretty good laps (plus I think some mistakes from Wayne). After being on his tail for about 3 laps, with 10 laps remaining, we were heading down to the first corner. He braked a lot earlier that what he had done on laps before ergo I couldn't stop and ploughed into the back of him. We both limped round to the pits for repairs, which allowed Liam to jump me in the pits for 6th. I've not watched it back yet (via Twitch) but I accept responsibility for the crash as I should have been smarter when it came to closing the gap and taking the position. Apologies, Wayne. Happy to have finished the race in the points in only my 4th real outing but could have been better. Each race I'm learning more and more and this one has certainly helped. Congrats to the Karl for the win, and the rest for finishing. My highlights are here. On another note - whenever I try to save my replay it's failing - any ideas? Can you use external storage for it? Unfortunately Rich, as the replays are stored internally on the game it doesn’t have enough storage to save longer races.

Q 5 (6th after Pit Lane Speeding Penalty) R 2
I was a little frustrated after qualifying as I felt that I’d left a chunk of time on the track, in our practice qualifying sessions I’d been running 10.4’s so I was over half a second slower and with my operational error of not pressing the PLSL button hard enough to engage it resulted in my mid grid staring position.
When we finally managed to get a stable lobby I had a good preparation on the formation lap and kept both brakes and tyres in fairly good condition as we formed up for the start, we had planned to run the reds on the 1st stint and with a great start I took the lead using P2P, I quickly found a great rhythm and in the early laps I began to open a small gap to Liam who was on the Primes, I pulled away from Liam up to 4 seconds but I knew it wasn’t going to be enough to retain the lead after the 1st round of stops, surprisingly I ran 23 laps on the reds and pitted which released Liam and Karl. I’d been comfortable on the blacks in testing and the car was pretty quick in the 2nd stint but I couldn’t pull back to Liam who was on the reds and driving away from me with an extend gap of about 35 seconds, I maintained my P3 although some 40 odd seconds from the lead and pitted again for my 2nd red stint on lap 44 and after Liams very unfortunate software issue I took 2nd and began to push hard to try and close the gap to Karl who was struggling on the Primes, the car was great and I took seconds out of Karl every lap and closed to with 15 seconds before Karl pitted for his last stint, I tried to over cut his lead with some strong in laps but I couldn’t make the impact I wanted resulting in a half spin 2 laps before my last stop. I boxed on lap 66 and rejoined in P2 almost 45 seconds behind Karl but with a fairly comfortable gap back to Adam in P3 and I rapidly realized that unless Karl had a problem then P2 was my target. Finished in P2 51 seconds behind Karl for my best result in this championship.
Huge congratulations to Karl for an awesome win and well done to Adam for your podium finish. Also congratulations to everyone who finished a very challenging and competitive race, it’s great to see our Indycar League grow and attract such a great group of people.
Lastly I’d like to thank my teammate Dan who has helped me to achieve these kind of results, thanks mate, I really appreciate it.
Looking forward to the 500
See you all then.
Cheers
Dave

Q2 R DNF
Qualifying went quite well for me. I set an alright time straight out of the blocks but I just couldn’t get the car hooked up like I really wanted. So I just kept plugging away thinking it must just be me, but 5 mins from the end I realised I hadn’t changed up my tire pressures for the cooler weather. So I quickly jumped in the pits lowered the pressures to roughly what would work. First flying lap jumped me up to P2 and crossed the line with 2 seconds of the session left so kept my foot in for one last go. Sadly I spun it on the second from last corner while running .2 faster. If only I realised sooner.
Race Well that went down hill quickly. Got jumped on the line and decided to back off in turn one as we were 3 wide. I thought let’s start off calm and build up as the track rubbers up. So while following bar I could feel the track getting quicker so I thought let’s close this gap and start moving. The problem was as I came round the turn off the back strait there he was (think he had spun coming out of the corner?) I tried to avoid but i just didn’t have the room, there goes the front wing. Quickly limp round to the pits for a new wing and my shot on blacks. Had about 5 laps on them really trying to push on as I had some clear track but after a slightly unsettled entry into a corner I clipped the cone on the apex. Annoyingly instead of just a little damage I lost the front wing for the second time. so on lap 15ish I was in the pits for my second pit. From there it was run lean and maximise the laps per stint. Worked my way up to 6th but on my last stint I pushed way too hard strait out of the pits and absolutely trashed my fronts after 5 laps. I was all over the shop on corner entry so I really had to back off on the brakes as I was over shooting corners. Sadly as I was loosing so much time to lard cake he collected me coming into turn one as I was having to brake so early to make the turn. After that it was a long pit and I was nowhere and frustrated so instead of getting in the way of anyone still racing for position I thought I would just bow out and race again another day.

Mate don’t worry about it, was clearly a racing incident. I was having real big trouble with that set of tires and there was no way for you to know how bad a time I was having with them.

Unfortunately Rich, as the replays are stored internally on the game it doesn’t have enough storage to save longer races. Cheers for that. Will see what other options are available. Also check to make sure you don't have old replays saved as the space the gane save's them to is so limited you can pretty much only have one race saved and as has already been mentioned it won't save the whole race due to the length of race and number of drivers. But it should save about 40 minutes of it unless you have other races saved which will cause a complete failure to save.

Q-3 R-1
Quali went pretty good. Set a PB about halfway through to sit P2 but then Wayne set the same time as me and was bumped up to P2. Well done Wayne, you are always quick in Quali. And Liam was more than a second ahead of everyone else in P1...epic. Not sure if anyone is going to be able to challenge him for Pole this season.
Race start was a pain. After realizing Mixer was no more i tried to see if i could get twitch working, but the app opened up and i had to jump back to the pcars2 game. I'm sure that's what made my wheel lose FFB for the start. After that it was a struggle to get the lobby going again. Once it finally got off i had a poor start. Dropped from P3 to P6 before the first corner then spent a few laps behind Tyler while trying to find my footing. I almost clobbered him twice before managing to get past him. Then i had to get past Wayne and Will. It was a lot of fun in those first 11-12 laps trying to get past those cars and keep my car intact. After that i started to gain a little on Dave and Liam. The gap to them was about 7 seconds and by the time they stopped for their first pit stop i had managed to get it down to 2 seconds. I stayed out while they pitted for tyres and had a stellar in lap and out lap and managed to jump both of them and com out of the pits in P1 with a couple seconds gap back to Liam. That second stint had Liam close to me a few times, but never quite close enough to make a move for position. then on Lap 42 I think he was making a strong effort on the main straight to get me when his xbox froze and caused him to go straight into the barriers at T1 and pretty much ruin his chance at taking the win. I went onto the Blacks for the 3rd stint and struggled massively. My average lap time dropped more than 2.5 seconds a lap from 1:12.7 to 1:15.3. In that stint Dave had caught me up going from about 55 seconds behind me to about 25 or so. I pitted early in order to get a full run on the reds at the end and relinquished the P1 spot to Dave but then regained it after he made his final stop. The last stint was all about just keeping it clean and running to the end. Dave was pushing to try and gain but i think he had a couple missteps in that last stint and lost a little more time toward the end. All in all it was a great race. No major incidents that i saw and everyone made it through the first lap unscathed i think, which is way better than last race. Happy to see Adam on the podium but wish it was my team mate Peter who had a very strong race from the back to take P4. I think he might have had a shot at Adams place but ended up having to fuel save. Great race for Dave and Dan, but unfortunate for Tyler with the disconnect.

Q-5 R-DNF
Once again the car I set up wasn't the one that showed up for race day. Was like willow springs all over again...
As soon as I came into qualifying I noticed the difference; it was as if I was on ice with rear suspension damage or something, or as if the game was having me turn in more than the input I was giving. The car was just so, so so so skittish. As a lot of you who were in the WEC series might remember I prefer my car to be just a touch loose; enough to rotate the car but not enough to try and kill you every lap... Just seemed like I was on a completely different setup compared to what I had put together. Pace was there but you were treading on razorblades to get it out: my qualifying time was almost two whole seconds faster than any lap I'd ran in my own practice sessions. Managed to start 5th and knew how sketchy the car was, and throw the green track in and I knew I was going to be in trouble... Took it real easy, was good until the left at the end of the back straight and spun. No damage, got it going again. Start catching people again, spin. Rinse and repeat about 15 times over a couple stints and add in the mic problems I had (which if I got in anyone's way and didn't respond I'm so sorry; I could hear everyone but I couldn't speak. I've heard that using the controller and wheel at the same time can cause interference with the wheel for some odd reason so I tried to reset the controller to see if it'd help my issues with the car. Helped in the past, and helped a bit but never gave me this many Mic issues) it was all getting frustrating. When I spun right in front of Karl a lap after pitting for reds and almost killed him twice in the same spin I had had enough. Thinking I'm gonna check my wheelbase out, see if there's a way for me to clean it and hope that helps me. Also want to look into a way to have a mic without having to use a controller to avoid those issues in the future. If none of that helps... Well, I really don't know. Maybe i got bad code or something again.
Looking forward to the 500, congrats to Karl for the win and to everyone who stuck it out through all the problems. Wish I would have been able to make it all the way but I just wasn't in it anymore

Wish I would have been able to make it all the way but I just wasn't in it anymore After reading about your handling issues I’m wondering if you set your practice weather conditions to those used in the race? And do you run your practice sessions in private testing or custom race? We’ve found that testing in private or public lobbies will give a better setup for the races as the conditions are usually very close but in private testing the track doesn’t behave in the same way. If you need any help with your car setup then let me know and I’ll try to point you in the right direction. Cheers Dave

Didnt you say your controller is wired?plug n play recharge pack or just wired? I use the plug n play recharge pack (plugged in while using my headset/mic) and ive had no issues with it turning off automatically since. The FFB loss,i think that's just a PC2 thing honestly, never had that issue with the F1 games (switching to twitch and back, leaving it sit for periods of time) but occassionally have it happen on PC2 while doing the same. Hope you can get it sorted and resolved mate 👍 annoying technical issues to have

I have my controller permanently plugged into the Xbox to prevent any issues with it turning off at inconvenient times. Never suffered that problem in all the time I have been using it that way. It's a real pita when these type of problems hit as I have found at several raves this year!! I hope you stick it out and you can enjoy some better times ahead

1 lap pace seemed quite strong around here and managed to get a good time on the board early and held on until the end with a new PB on the final attempt. I decided to start on the blacks and get it out the way while the field was still close together. I didn’t expect to hold the lead for long with such a vast different in pace but thought I might be able to hold it at least half the main straight 😂 (thanks Dave). Initially Dave got a good gap of about 4 seconds but slowly towards the end of the stint we were a second or 2 apart with Karl catching all the time. Me and Dave pitted on the Same lap I went to Reds and Dave went to blacks, I managed to get the jump on the first lap out the pits I believe but Karl put a storming couple of laps in and jumps a few seconds ahead. Towards the middle of the stint I got with a second or 2 but not close enough to make a move, whilst in lapped traffic I closed the gap right down until the game totally froze and when it sorted itself out I was in the tyre wall at the first corner. Luckily for me it didn’t boot me completely, I limped to the pits and fixed the aero. Stupidly a rookie error I didn’t change it to fixed the suspension so had to drive another full lap and put a second time 🙄. From then on it was just push like mad and pick up any pieces I could, everyone’s race pace was great so I clawed a little back but only picked up places from other incidents so it wasn’t a total disaster. Congratulation to the podium finishers another strong performance Karl and Dave 100% your best most consistent race, the first stint behind you was mighty 👌

Quali 12th Race 4th
Worst qualifying session for me in as long as I can remember!! Around 1.5 seconds off my usual quick lap pace here and just wasn’t able to overcome the sticking brake during this session which seemed worse in this session than at any other time. Each time I thought I was on for a decent lap it would grab at the most inopportune time and mainly seemed to be as I was exiting that tight penultimate corner and put me into a part spin losing all the momentum for the end of the lap.
Stating so far back I knew my best chance for a decent race was just to remain patient and not overdo it in the early laps when the cars were grouped closely together. Made up a place on the opening lap and followed closely behind Richard, pressing where I could but making sure to not get too close and risk damage. Got through when he had a bit of a moment early on lap 2 and then we raced line astern with Dan for the next 9 laps and moved up to 8th place when Adam pitted around lap 10. Over the rest of the first stint I managed to keep it pretty clean and by the time the first stop came around had moved up to a very handy 5th place with a 7 second gap to Dan. I pitted around lap 22 and although my strategy had been to go for the reds I found the crew bolted on those damn blacks so was not best pleased. I can only assume that with all the to0ing and throwing with the multiple lobbies to get us all together that I had selected the wrong strategy. Anyway, those blacks were awful!! In praCtice I only had one full stint on the reds and about 8 laps on the blacks so it took me a while to find any feel and rhythm with them. In that time I slipped and slid around at times and had several part spins and that allowed Adam and then Dan to get past me easily and dropped me to 7th place. The gap to Dan quickly grew and by lap 37 was up to just shy of 17 seconds. With Dan still having the black stint to come I was conscious that I needed to keep as close as possible to have any chance of catching him when I got back on the reds. Thankfully for the last third of the stint I found some form and the laps times dropped significantly and more importantly the gap to Dan was coming down too and by the time I was coming in for some fresh rubber and fuel on lap 42 it was down to just over 10 seconds.
Once Dan had pitted and come out on those blacks it was head down time and try to close tht gap before the final stop and a race to the flag for both of us on reds. I got it down to 6 seconds in the next 4 laps but then overdid it on the exit of turn 7 and had a part spin which lost me about 5 seconds!! It took me a while to get my confidence back after that and it wasn’t until lap 54 that I was back on terms and just 2 seconds adrift. I did briefly get past on lap 55/6 but then had a bad exit out of the penultimate turn and with no p2p and my faulty brake pedal partly activated as we went down the main straight I had no defence and he was back past me into turn 1. I stuck close from then on and had one attempt to get past into the penultimate turn but Dan held on and I then just stuck as close to him as possible looking to make the undercut rather than risk any ting that could take us both out.
So my last stop I came in a lap early and hoped it would give me the advantage and enable me to jump him in the pits. My stop was a pretty good one and I came out needing to put in a solid out lap which I managed to do. My strategy to undercut Dan worked perfectly and I could hear the anguish in his voice as I sped down the main straight while he was still trundling along the pit lane towards the exit. Up into 4th place but now came the really hard part. I knew Dan would be making a real strong effort to close the gap and me with no p2p and the potential for my brake to stick again I was going to find it almost impossible to hold him off if he got anywhere close enough out of the final turn.
During all this Adam had been quietly and solidly holding onto 3rd place ahead of us both and we all at this point had a shot at that final podoium spot. After all our stops had played out Adam was 5 seconds ahead of me with Dan 4 behind and all still to play for. The gaps between us all stayed pretty static over the next 10 laps or so and by lap 75 we had barely budged that’s how closely matched we were.. I would take a bit out of Adam one lap and he would do the same the lap later same with Dan, it was a really solid consistent drive by the three of us. It was at this point that I suddenly realised that I could have a problem with fuel due to my pitting a lpa earlier than planned. Rather than take the risk as I had done at Willow in the first round I opted to immediately drop to lean mix and knew that this would mean that I could quickly get pulled in by Dan and would allow Adam to get away. The latter did prove to be the case and I am sure Adam gave a sigh of relief as I disapeared from his mirrors and dropped to 10 seconds by lap 90. But strangely Dan had been unable to close and in fact I had opened the gap up to 7 seconds which gave me the confidence to believe that I would hold onto that 4th place providing I didn’t make a mistake. I also had the option to switch back to full mix if he did close on me for the final lap but as it happens it wasn't needed as although he pulled it back to 5 seconds I was able to remain in lean for the remainder of the race.
Fantastic battle so well done Adam and Dan for providing me with some really good tense racing. One mistake from any of us could have changed the whole thing.
Congrats to Karl for a great win and Dave for probably his best drive.. possibly the best he has had in the Indycar series since we started racing it 4 seasons ago. Great job guys. Well done Adam for keeping cool throughout and claiming that final podium step as your own. Would have loved to bring the battle to you over those last ten laps but there's plenty of races left for that 😊. Thoroughly enjoyed our race long battle Dan. I know I can trust you in the side to side racing and it was a pleasure spending 84 laps in close proximity with the result never certain until that final flag. Great stuff. Certainly what I needed after the major disappointments of the last two races.
Well done everyone that took part, we have a really strong group here and everyone is racing so well and completely respectfully. It’s a real pleasure to race with each and every one of you.
This race more than any other just shows why Project Cars 3 has missed the point. We had everything in this race that won’t be possible with the new game…. Differing tyre strategies, fuel management, exciting pit stops, damage and it all added up to the most exciting Racing of the season. WHAT THE HELL WERE THEY THINKING!!!!
