Hi all, Many thanks for allowing me in totally new to this but loving the sim life:) quick question with regards to upping ratings i've been practising on Barcelona for a week now and have unlocked the safety rating what is the best way to raise this with regards to racing Ai? Hotlaps or full races with AI? Regards All Safety rating needs actual racing rather than hot lapping as its governed by how you race with other cars on track. I have been struggling to get mine increased but the best way of to set the AI to s level that you can race with without having to fight desperately to stay with them or run away from them too easily. The longer you can race closely with them without incident the more your rating should increase. Check out the Friday Night Series thread as well because Wayne has a server that anyone here can use for some racing online. Hopefully a few of us can get together over time and have some fun.

Set up 20 minute races and start towards the back of a full grid. You will have to find what AI settings are best for you. You don't want to be able to overtake easily. Driving close to other cars *while driving at a fast pace* will get it done. Do not hit anyone! Just figure if you even tap another car, that will take away 10 or 15 minutes of clean driving. If you can put together a clean 20 or 30 minute race like this, your SA will climb quickly. I had my near 90, but it dropped 20 after driving like an idiot a couple days.lol

I did this myself yesterday but started as the front to get a few laps in to improve my CN rating first which and up by 4 points after about half a dozen clean laps. Then I drove through the pits and allowed the AI to catch up and then had the rest of the race in close combat with a couple of lead AI. I did have them set too low though and had to slow down a bit to not overtake them easily so next time i'll increase them a bit and try your back of the grid method to see if that increases it quicker.

Its crucial you have the AI fast enough that you are driving at at least 90% of your fastest pace. Starting from the back, overtaking more than 1 car per lap probably means they are too slow. Lowering the Aggression helps.
There is no big short cut, but the more time you spending at speed in closer quarters with other cars, the faster it will climb. In a 25 minute race, it can climb nearly 10 points. I feel like it went up 12 points one time.

Mine has never gone up more than 2 points in any 20 minute race and mostly its been just 1. Those times were with AI that could stay with me throughout a race as well. The recent attempts where I slowed the AI down it just went up but 1 each race too.
When I get the chance next I will up the level again and see how I get of on.

No matter the length of the race, if you have to Exit early, that seems like it has an adverse effect. Not positive on that. It's been a while since I worked on my SA, but will check again after LeMans. Come to think of it, the ones with big chunks were the 30 min test races I was doing since that is a full stint/tank of fuel. Try a 30 when you can and I'll bet it goes up a lot. You're one of the cleanest drivers I know, so there is something missing here that's not translating to your rating.

Well another reasonably long session for me tonight. I had about 40 minutes at the Barcelona Superpole event in the McLaren and annoyingly my Pace rating went down a point before I had even completed one hot lap :/ How the hell does that happen lol. Anyway, I persevered with this one and dropped 3/tenths off my time and gained over 150 places but still no change to my Pace rating. Stuck with it and find more pace and knocked a full second off and gained about 300 places and this time my Pace rating jumped up by 5. It does seem a bit random but at least it was a positive run.
Tried Brands in the wet briefly but for some reason couldn't seem to get going on that so abandoned it before I could do any damage to my ratings... I'll try that again another night.
Then went into practice mode at Laguna and found the graphs you were talking about Sean. I concentrated on Consistency and had a good run of completely clean laps going before I had to pit for fuel. Came out, had a dodgy lap and my Consistency dropped by a point.. So onr iffy lap drops your rating but a run of good laps gives bugger all :/ very confusing.. Like I said it all seems a bit random to me at times.

Like I said it all seems a bit random to me at times. Glad you're getting it going. Pace is calculated by where you are in the Leaderboards. When other people beat your time, your Pace can drop. So if you have a good one, you have to check it and protect it every so often. I haven't spent much time in the McLaren or Brands events yet. My Pace rating is from the Spa 991 hot stint. Yes the Car Control graph is really helpful. It forces you to be smooth. That was pretty well thought out!
