Well that was an exercise frustration lol. All that time for two quails and a 20 minute race and one lap in the second race. Quali in that second race went well with pole but then it went to pot. Didn’t fight Artie into turn 1 in case there was contact but then the car had no grip through turn 4 and I spun to the inside and lost several places. Sorry for the light contact into turn 5 Bryan, thought I broke in time but it just nudged you into a spin so I let you back ahead. Then going round turn 8 someone spun, came back on track and I had nowhere to go but right into him. Car was too damaged to continue so I had to quit.
I’m not sure where we go with it now. Without our own server we have no control over the session lengths and tracks and none of the ones that go up are ever anything more than short sessions which is no good for our needs. I’m reluctant to pay what they charge fora server when it still seems such a pain in the arse to setup. I’ll think on it and let you know if I sort anything out.
Hope you had some good racing anyway.

If Waynes server is now available we can start to use that but I would suggest we take turns to rent one each month so the onus is not on one person. They cost €10.79 per month. It can then be left up with a long practice session with the track changed each week perhaps so any us can jump on at any time to practice. What do you think?

That way my wife can't tell me I'm not invested. What's the best way to do that consistently? Set up the server and a PayPal account? Just let me know.

Mine is just linked to my Xbox account and takes the money the same way as my Xbox Gamepass subscription. You just need to download the Gportal app and create an account.

Can some ask Wayne if he can reconfigure his server to give an hours practice session so it can be used by anyone that gets on for some practice. I still can’t check the chat group as I haven’t watched any of the weekends quali or race yet. I may give it a miss but would prefer to avoid the result just in case I get any chance too watch it.

Sorry guys, I missed you on Saturday.
I'll be around next weekend if you're free, although it sounds as if there were server issues?

Not so much server issues Richard, other than that one at Monza, just none of the servers run anything that’s any good for proper practice. Short quali and race where we need something with time enough to get used to the game and work on setups together. Plus long enough races to test pit stops because I still find them really confusing in this game.

Well I ended up having an extended t run at Silverstone tonight with four 29 minute races. AI set to 92 which probably needs to be increased a bit now as I won the last race by 11 seconds. My first error free race and finally managed to find a bit more pace with a best lap of 2:03.876. Consistent laps in the 2:04/05 range throughout. Having longer runs definitely helps as I do get used to the framerates the longer I am playing the game.
I think I’ll set the next races up for an hour to get up to half the distance we will be racing in the actual series. If I can get some consistent laps in throughout the hour I’ll feel a lot more confident.
I made some setup adjustments for the last race which did seem to make a difference. A couple of clicks extra negative camber across the board, lowered the front ride height by 10 clicks and had a couple more clicks on the rear aero. Also reduced abs and tc to 4 and 3 respectively. The car just seemed less on edge with these changes.
One of the things I’ve struggled to get to grips with is how heavy these cars are and how quickly they lose rear grip if you throw them into the corners with too much speed.

I managed to jump on for an hour this morning to check out Wayne's server and I was able to get onto it by searching for it as it does not appear without doing so. Search for XRF Test and it should pop up for anyone that wants to try it out.
I did both the hours qualifying and ten minte race sessions. Thanks for making those changes Wayne, nice surprise when I got on and it was setup for an hours qualifying as that's what we need to be able to do any proper practices.
It was only when I got in the garage to find that it was dark that I remembered that we would be racing in these night-time conditions. All my practice before this morning had been daylight. It certainly adds a completely new dimension to it and is very difficult to see the apexes, etc. Wearing glasses I did find part of the screen quite glary with the headlights on so good to find that out in advance. Defintly advise everyone to practice the night-time session to get the best possible preparation for it. My best lap was a 2:04.8 so not too far off my daytime time.
It was very cool with the transitions from the different times of the day. What was it set to Wayne... a full day in 1 hour?
DIT: I have just read over the series notes and there is no actual mention of what times of day these events will be set to in the game so I will try to get that clarified so we are completely aware of this. The times for the actual races are clear so perhaps it will mirror those.

Nice that things are running more smoothly Peter. I´m happy to join for a good session with Rich maybe and all the guys in Saturday or Sunday (due to the time difference Monday through friday is a bit difficult to have the time), please comment so maybe we can have a go this weekend. Cheers

As always between end of August to February Sundays are a no-go for me. I'm fully booked that not due to NFL.
I might be around Saturday again if anything is arranged for then but if more can make Sunday just go with that.

Cheers Wow. Big Thanks Wayne!!!!! for the opportunity to practice. I really need to follow someone at speed to see where I am losing time. With the time difference I can usually be online at odd times. I do not have a 9 to 5 gig. This car and I do not get along.

One of the things I am still finding really frustrating is the button mapping. What do you guys set yours to? There just aren't enough buttons available for everything you need in this game which makes their disabling of the keyboard mapping even more possible. What a bunch of knows to deliberately remove that when you need so many buttons available in the game.

What a bunch of knows to deliberately remove that when you need so many buttons available in the game. I map Ignition and Start buttons. (X-Y) I can't use a manual clutch if I don't I map pit limiter to (B) I map alternate view to (A) D-pad up and down are TC up/Down D-pad right left Anti-Lock up and Down. Last extra button for Engine map increase if I need it. If I do not use manual clutch I map Light Cycle (X) and Wiper Cycle (Y) The rest stays the same. I've tried a few different combinations, I usually end up coming back to this one. Hope that Helps.

Cheers Matt. Yeah I’ve tried all different combinations as well but how do you then bring up the MFD for the two standings options or to get to the engine or pit stop HUD’s? That’s my issue because once I start changing the buttons how I want then the MFD pop-up never works.

For me I think it’s the weight of them because I am so used to the lighter and more nimble open wheelers. These just seem like tanks in comparison!! Just putting in laps has got me to some sort of consistency but I still can’t see any way that I’ll get near that magic 2:00 that seems to be the kind of pace that is needed to be somewhat competitive.

That’s my issue because once I start changing the buttons how I want then the MFD pop-up never works. Right now Pete I'm experimenting as well. I have my Pit HUD automatically pop up at the pit entrance. It teaches you speed reading as well as slowing down fast. I'm still not sure about how to do the MFD for the engine. I suppose that you could map the clutch pedal to bring up the engine MFD. This car doesn't use the clutch. Cheers.
