I just had another little session and played a bit with the setup on the Ferrari. Dropped the rear wing a couple of clicks, lowered rear ride height and stiffened the front of the car for a bit more responsiveness and it felt immediately better. Now down into the 2:02’s with a best of 2:02.8. Going to try another click on the front wheel rate but I suspect it will start to go the other way if I go too far.
Camber will be my next look I think.

Anyone getting on tonight? I'm going to try to if I can. Haven't checked the server yet to see what is set to though.

I have just changed the server to 20 mins qualifying and 1 hour race. It’s still an open lobby so everyone can join in easy

I’ve just posted a cars pace chart here:- consoleracing.boards.net/thread/825/car-pace-chartThis is based on hotlaps I believe but gives a good idea of each cars relative pace at each track. Interestingly it shows that the Ferrari is fastest at Silverstone 👍🏼

I’m in the server with a race about to start if anyone else wants to join. About 9 drivers in it.
Edit: So did the full 20 minute quali and 1 hour race. Took pole but only with a mid 2:03. Lead from the line but then got tagged partway round the lap and lost several places and dropped to sixth. Had some fun with a couple of cars for a few laps then with one in particular battling for the first half of the race for fourth and fifth. I had a bunch of little incidents with some things I’ll outline later and he got away from me by about ten seconds but I was clawing him back gradually when he must have had a spin as I was suddenly just a couple of seconds behind. Managed to get past him then pulled away. Moved up to third and then found myself second with a gap of about 10 seconds to the leader and 20 minutes left. Had a really good consistent spell for that last 30 minutes and was gradually closing the gap and with 6 minutes left I was right on his tail. He was getting a bit ragged and I noticed he kept running wide at certain corners so when he did it again at Luffield I took the inside line and was about to accelerate past when he came right over on me made contact and sent me into a spin. I was not happy especially as it immediately dropped my SA down a digit. That’s one of my biggest gripes with the ratings, you get penalised for incidents that are completely on someone else. Anyway, I was pretty pissed and although the leader was more 8 seconds up the road with 5 minutes left I chased hard and was back within three seconds as we started the penultimate lap. Then it got a bit confusing, he pulled up at the line and allowed me through, obviously realising he had caused the incident. I went past but then felt it fairer to slow a bit and let us race for the last half a lap but at the tight right-hander he ran into me again lol and I ended up losing third place s as well.. 🙄
Anyway, it was a good session and I’m glad I completed it in full.
One thing though was that the car struggled through the esses in particular and I lost it through there several times in that first half hour. I had to alter the way I was driving to compensate but the lap times suffered as a result. So with that in mind I definitely suggest you guys get online to do some practice as it felt very different from when I practiced offline. Not sure whether it may have been the conditions that effected things but something certainly felt different.

Thanks for the information Pete. Sounds like you had a good learning experience. I was able to put a few laps in yesterday in the Ferrari, came in at 2:03.1. I'm starting to get a feel for the Ferrari. I should be able to put some practice in tonight. Now that I can push it around the track at a decent pace I'll start competition testing today.

Try jumping into Waynes server so you can test online. It is a bit concerning that it felt so different at times yesterday in comparison to what I found in my offline testing.

I suggest you do races as you can buidl up your SA fairly well doing those. Mine has gone up from zero to 63 in the last few weeks just by doing about half a dozen one hour races. It can jump really quickly plus you get used to racing other cars. You should be able to set the AI to somewhere around 90-92 and have some close racing based on the times you mentioned. That's what I have it set to and that puts them at about our pace.

Now I'm ready with the Ferrari to start getting a feel for it in traffic. I have yet to get a feel for the Aggressive/Skill settings. That number should help a bunch. I was cranking it up to 100, and getting spun from behind just about every time between turns 3 and 6. Do you know if the Championship and Career races help you work towards the SA rating?

Pete, I did some checking and the virtual mirror works on every view except the Helmet cam. You probably already knew that though. Enjoy your evening.

Do you know if the Championship and Career races help you work towards the SA rating? For our pace 100 is way too fast Matt. I find even 95 is faster than the times we are getting so tone it down to 90-92 and just increase it as you get faster. Take note of the times the AI get at each level and you’ll see what I mean. At 100 not only will they likely run into you because you are much slower than them but you will struggle improve your SA rating because that is determined by racing closely but cleanly with opponents. So you have to be able to stay close to them which at 100 just isn’t going to happen until your times are much faster 👍🏼

I was starting to get really frustrated with that. Have you got some firm numbers on your setup? Did you end up tweaking your settings more?

I’ll check it out next time I’m on but from memory I dropped the rear wing and ride height by a couple of clicks and increased the wheel rate at the front to its maximum. I’m going to try to see how camber adjustments change things and also might look at higher aero to see if it gives better speed through those fast corners at Abbey, Copse, Stowe and the Maggots Beckets complex. There must be something we are missing to help find those extra few seconds.

I'll be in around 9 but of course we will be bound by when the server is avalable. If anyone has started a session we have to wait until its over or can just join part way through.

I think I'm going to amend our car for this first race to the Ferrari, any objections to that? As we can race a different car for each event we can always swap it afterwards although the 488 does seem to be the best balanced from what I have experienced.

I sure didn't think you would be able to talk me into a Ferrari but you did. My Saturday has turned to rubbish. I still don't know where or if I am working today/tonight. My hope now, is to be able to turn some practice laps today.

Glad you are enjoying it Matt. I hope we get to spend some time on track together some. I should be good to go for another run out tonight so hopefully there’s few of us from the team and some good clean races to join us too.
I made a few setup changes the other day, went for higher aero and ride height and am now consistently in the 2:03’s with a best of 2:02.9.
