Hi Everybody. (Xbox GT: PsykotikDr68)
I hope this finds you all doing well. I'm glad to be here thanks to Admin for activating my account. I've been racing on console since GT2 on the PlayStation 2. I've been racing on the Forza platform since 5. Recently I upgraded my pedals to the TP3 Pro set up and after not having a clutch I'm slower than I've ever been. *sheesh* lol Because of this I thought it was time to load up PC 2(my wife got it for me for Valentines day) and Start my career from scratch with the new pedals. This is how I found your little corner of the 'net. I hope to be able to start participating in organized events once I get the hang of the new equipment and tracks I've never run before. I've never been very good at tuning the car so hopefully I can learn a bit about that here as well. Thanks again. See you on the Track. Matt (Dok)

Welcome on board. There is a pretty wide berth of experience here so when those questions come up and you are feeling stumped, ask away and we will help where we can.
Hang in there with the 3 pedal set, before you know it you will start to heel-toe and never look back.

Right on Right on Shneeb108. I use Alesis Strike Pro eKit on the road, I have a Premier Genista Birch kit in the Studio. And another Camaro Fan I see as well.

Ah yes, how did I miss that Camaro in the avatar! Good to have you on board here, and yeah, you can learn some stuff here, and have fun! I had a mahogany Premier set back in the seventies modeled after Keith Moon's set up. It was quite nice and lasted a long time. Do you have a You Tube channel where we can see you perform some music? That would be cool to see! Cheers

@shneeb I do not have anything on You tube yet. The band has some vids on Facebook. I am not sure how the rules work on that sort of thing at the moment. I can share privately if you want. y22rydr After trying the "heel/toe" Technique I am trying to find a way to do the same with my left foot. I'm a southpaw so I'm searching different solutions. I'm just thankful that I can look at the setups that others have come up with to try to understand it more. Even better... Find one that works for me right off the page. Cheers.

Wow. I see that I haven't been here in a while. I've been trying to get my skills good enough to try to race humans without crashing every car beside me. I'm ready to race even if it means following the field to learn. If I am on and you need someone to pass on a regular basis give me a shout. Cheers, Dok

There are drivers of all levels here for just about any kind of cars and series. As long as you race cleanly, that's the main thing! Viperconcept has an excellent YouTube channel with a lot of good driving tips etc. Emptybox/Empty Box also has informative videos. If you're using a cockpit or are sitting close to the screen, make sure you set the correct FOV. Most sims have that function. It will help you with depth perception and hitting your marks consistently.

I've had a lot of fun with those games. It is time that I get better as a driver, and figure out how to "set up" a car. I'm a drummer not Crew Chief. Cheers, Dok

IMO just drive and dont worry about setups for a while. You would be surprised at how many WR level times are with stock setups! The default Loose and Stable tunes are great. If anything, just adjust the brake ducts and tire pressures to make sure they're in a good spot and you'll be fine.
Trail braking and throttle steering are the biggest things as far as technique. The car goes where your eyes go. Knowing where to put your eyes is the biggest thing of all. Driver 61 (I think that's his channel) has some great videos about that, too. Keep working at it and it will eventually click.

Finding my marks and remembering how to find them has become the latest in a line of corrections I recognize I need. I like learning with a ghost car. Problem is that I can't find one that compares to the car I want to train with. Hard to use a ghost when the lap times are 15 seconds different. Should have seen me trying to chase a corvette with a Megane. I really appreciate all your suggestions. They remind me that I may know Racing, but I need to learn how to race. Cheers, Dok

Cheers, Dok If you're sitting close to the screen with the wheel etc, you'll need the correct FOV to be consistent. That way, you will have a natural depth perception. The sense of speed isn't great that way, but the trade off us with it. To get it, measure the distance between your eyes and the center of the screen. Then enter the data: dinex86.github.io/FOV-Calculator/You'll need to map buttons to adjust your seat so you're in your natural position. It's a pain to map and remap, but once you get it you will be good. Helmet Cam is probably better than Cockpit because you can use Look to Apex. Slowly increase it as you go, that's the best way to get used to it. You can also turnoff the Helmet itself so it doesn't hinder your view of the dash etc. For a cheap and just as functional button box for something like this, just get a $15 USB "ten key" from Amazon. There you can put your seat adjustments, brake bias, and anything else you may need.

This one is really good, too.

Good Day and Evening to you! I've had some time away now I'm back, Someone left the door open, hehehe Now I'm hoping that I can see if I have been able to improve. I find my self with consistent availability during the week. If there is anyone that would like to run some laps mornings or early afternoon EST just let me know. Cheers, Dok
