Enjoyed my first session at Silverstone last night Did a 30 minute practice, 20 minute quali and the opening laps of a 35 lap the race (wish we could save a return later..). Managed ot fairly quickly find what I hope is some decent pace and finished the practice with a best of 1:41.067 which was about a second up on the next best AI. Purple in sectors 2 and 3 but about a couple of hundredths shy of the best in sector 1. Stiffened up the suspension a bit for this one which seemed to do nicely and went with one click up on the final drive from default (I think) but may still look at this a little more.
Went on to quali and at one point as the clock ticked down to 6 minutes left there was just a couple of hundredths between the top 6 with me in 2nd place on 1:40.979 at that point. Wound it up for the last couple of runs though and improved to 1:40.799 before finishing with a 1:39.763 just over 1.1 seconds ahead of the next best. Key to these sessions as with Rouen is to load up with a decent amount of fuel and gradually up the tempo as the tyres reach their best… last 5 laps were as follows..

Race start was pretty good with the AI being a bit more competitive under heavy fuel and it took me half a dozen laps to build a lead of around 6 seconds with a best laps of 1:40.671 before I had to quit the race. Great fun and looking forward to another run later or tomorrow.

I've been going with the current weather because it changes things up but I don't mind running the real weather if that's what everyone agrees on. It would make my job of updating the page easier and that way we can specifically tune our cars for the weather and not have to worry of sudden changes.
1:39? Wow Damn I could only manage 1:41.2 for my best the other night with averages of 1:42 - 1:43 a lap. I was faster than the AI set at 80/20 but I was again kind of unstable like at Rouen when I pushed. Hopefully it's also like Rouen where I beat my best time during the race!

I also raced the AI at 80 but had then at 45 aggressiveness. They can be a bit careless at that agg though which would be more problematical if I increased their strength level a bit more. I had them initially at 50 and got bumped in the rear several times so dropped it by 5 clicks.
I just need to avoid any unneccesary incidents and enjoy a clean race to get back on track in this series. Pace has been there in most races so it's just about managing things a bit better now.

Had my second test this morning, straight into a 35 lap race with 15 AI set at 80 with aggression at 45. I will need to up the strength level a bit if I have another race I think as I managed to pick up the W with a gap of 42 seconds over second place, which included a spin costing me 14 seconds on the penultimate lap (trying too hard to beat my fastest time lol) and another on lap 7 costing me 11 seconds. But tbf to the AI they didn't make it easy initially and kept me on my toes keeping the gap at around 2-3 seconds for the opening 8 laps until I started to push on a bit harder as my confidence grew.
After the first three laps of settling in with a 1:46, 1:42 and 1:41 I was into the 40's from lap 4, sometimes slipping back into the 41's and with a fastest lap of the race of 1:39.438. It took me until lap 16 to get into the 39's though. Pitted at the end of lap 22 when I started to come up behind the back of the pack so took that opportunity to make my mandatory stop rather than risk going through them and came out with a sold 35 second lead over second place. Took it up to 45 seconds by the end of lap 30 and up as high as 45 seconds before my wild spin on the exit of Club. Luckily with the wide open spaces I was able to bring it under control on the grass and get back on track without taking any damage.
Thing is with this car that no matter how comfortable you feel with it you just have to make one small mistake and you are off the track and in trouble... very easy to overdo any one of those corners but in particular Becketts can really prove difficult and if you try to take too much speed through there or brake too late you are asking for problems.
Looking forward to our race.. should be fun.

That's about where I am too. I'm thinking about redoing my setup but I've tuned it so it's comfortable for me. I'm going to try closing up the radiator more as the damage is just a timer and maybe start over on the gears.
I did an online 16 lap race the other night with the AI at 83/45 and one other real person. I don't know what tyres they used but they kept it in the 1:39s. My wheel broke again even though I was taking it easy. I was slightly faster than the AI but they really gave me a challenge down the straightaways. I crashed out around lap 5 or 6 by the chicane, pulled off to the side and watched the rest of the race after that!

Remind me Tyler what is it that happens to your wheel... it physically breaks or you pull it off the desk? I am happy enough with my setup, haven't made too many changes but it's pretty stable and getting me into the mid 39's and I should have made it to the 38's but just overdid it a few times when on target to reach that. As always with this car it won't necessarily be about outright pace (I had that at Rouen and look what happened there lol) but more about just managing to avoid problems and not overdoing it and creating your own issues. I am looking forward to it regardless, love Silverstone and am really enjoying getting to grips with this car now I am getting in a bit more practice. For me the AI challenge came at the slower corners like Copse and Becketts where they seem to be quicker but into the faster corners I always had the edge and could pull away.

im 50-50 for this having boiler replaced cos got condemned lol tomorrow so need to get to valves on the radiator which means taking everything out the way including my xbox

Was hoping to get on for a quick test last night but the wife wanted to watch a movie, which turned into two movies...lol Anyway, Should get some running tonight, but likely won't be up to Peters pace. I'll probably just be filling up the grid a little and running at the back.

Yep you are correct my good sir, the $90-$100 Thrustmaster Ferrari Spider wheel has been my wheel for about 2 years now. We've been through a lot together but she can't take much more abuse and it's close to retirement time😢😭

We've been through a lot together but she can't take much more abuse and it's close to retirement time😢😭 A good value wheel, that's what I started out with after I got my X Box One. It's waiting up in the loft for when I need it in an emergency.
