This one is going to be tough in a very different way to the others so far. Like Karl said finding the right braking points is quite tough and not something we have to worry about at any of the other tracks in this series. It's very easy to push it a fraction too far and there's no way to recover as you end up in the tyre wall.
Best i've managed after a very short run is 2:25 on s very gently taken lap. I think somewhere around 2:20 should be doable but difficult to judge after such a short time. The track feels very bumpy as well which adds to the difficulty.

More engine breaking and softer brake pressure (75 - 80) is the way to go here. You have to be extremely careful when downshifting to 1st so that you don't spin the rear and ruin your race. Best lap i've done is a 2:23 on the dot. 2:20 is a great lap time to shoot for.
I probably won't get much more testing here with Texas coming up and pre-season testing in the 49C. I'm very eager to get back into our Vintage F1 lol

I'm possibly getting my first proper test here tonight. Should concentrate on Texas in the modern car but these vintage deals just keep me coming back for more. Once i've got the braking points nailed it should be fine, just very difficult getting those right and each time you get it wrong you have to start from scratch with cold tyres again and do another outlap before going for it again lol.
Might just go straight to a race where you start on heated tyres and work it out from there initially.
Decent time to start off with Tyler, that's a good benchmark which I'll be using to measure against.

Straight to race is the way to go Peter.... either let the AI get away at the start or try to overtake them right away. I managed a 2:22.6 the other night so i agree a 2:20 is likely possible, it's just hitting every sector right that's the problem. The stadium section is a particular pain in the a$$.

I managed to get half a dozen full laps in around here last night (started with some Texas testing and then the time just went).
Managed to get into the 2:20's with a best of 2:20.5 but the revised target will be lower as that lap was not clean and I left a lot of time on the table. The first chicane is the one I find the most difficult and I am losing time there for sure. I think with a bit more setup work and longer session on the track we'll see times well below 2:20 before we hit the track for real.

I'm not sure i'm going to do any more setup work...just keeping it clean here will be the winning strategy. I've got to focus on getting the stadium section right. That first braking zone is tricky...it's a bit deceiving how slowly you have to go through there.

How's everyone's practice going? Pete and Matt seem to be the fastest, Matt just needs to finish!
I may or may not get in one more practice before the race. I'm still working on getting lap times down for the next season, the old spa is my next destination and only the 4th round of 13 so i've got some work ahead yet. I don't want to wait too long after this season to start the next.

I had another short practice last night. It’s proving a struggle to get any consistency here but at least last night there was some progress. Definitely the toughest car\track combo I’ve driven in any series to date. Managed to get solidly into the 20’s and 21’s and also broke into the 19’s with a 2:19.824 but the danger at this track in this car is trying to push too much pretty much always ends in disaster. Definitely one where you have to stay disciplined and within the bounds of what you know. The start tonight will be the biggest unknown as we all are likely to have different methods of negotiating this circuit. XRF Formula1 I have not yet done any more testing for next seasons tracks but will try to do some over the next week.. With two league races per week it’s proving difficult fitting all the practices in at the moment :/

I had another quick run last night but struggled to get out of the 22s. When i'm on it I can easily to 21s and 20s, but just wasn't feeling it last night. Hopefully we'll have a clear race tonight. It's so easy to get off track and take damage and it's a long way back to the pits from just about everywhere on this circuit.
