May have to cut tonight short as I have a houseful so not sure I'll be able to race to the end. Fingers crossed it all works out add I'll be gutted to lose out after putting in some really good practice. Good luck everyone.
Also will have to keep to limited comms as it's pretty busy and noisy here.

That was definitely the toughest race on the calendar for sure. Nice job Karl on 2nd despite the issues, and another out of this world drive by Darren.
I'm mad at myself for damaging the front wing, TWICE coming off of turn 8. It took me little more than half the race to find my groove but once I settled down it went much smoother. I just couldn't find the pace to keep up with the Hondas.
Peter and I had a few close intense moments somewhere in the last 20 laps. He scared me a couple times into turn 9 and I almost took more damage on that wall. We both almost went into the turn 1 wall as we came together slightly down the straight, we had to reverse to get out of there but luckily I think we both made it out unscathed.

Q:7 R:DNF Had good practice got mid 1:08s. Got caught up in the turn 1 spin. Pitted for new wing. Kept decent pace. Next stop the crew forgot to change the tires. Pitted again and crew continued with the reds. Third pit stop and again reds. Came out of pits and clicked off Pit speed limit but wasn't completely pass the exit, got black flagged. For some reason my button mapping wasn't there as it was in 1st race of season and I didn't change anything. No p2p, pit or anyway to control what strategy I was wanting. Frustrated with this game but continuing and learning. Great job to finishers and podium guys.

In your pit strategy make sure you don't have 'recommended' selected for the tyres Railer as that leaves the decision of whether to change the tyres up to the game. Make sure you've got it set to 'All' then it will change your tyres to the compound you've selected. Strange about the button mapping.. I BN know you said you recalibrated your wheel so did you perhaps reset it as well? Even so the default d-pad would have still asked you to access your pit menus.

Another tale of woe for the #9 Target Ganassi car, couldn’t reproduce the pace i had in the practice sessions I completed in the run up to the race and qualified in P6.
Got a good start and caught a great tow into T1 and found myself in the top 5 at the end of the 1st lap but this is where it all goes wrong, I had mistakenly picked the wrong setup for the race and the difference between my quali setup and the race setup were huge, oversteer in some corners and massive understeer in others resulting in several unplanned pit stops. After collecting Pete in T5 I decided to retire as I was going to cause a race changing incident so apologies to anyone I came int contact with.
Hoping for better performances in the races to come.
P.S I did say that Daz would win 🤣🤣🤣🤣.

That was a real pain. I like the track and qualied well. Then on lap 1 I caught curb on the 1st right hander after the fountain and was up on 2 wheels into the outside wall. This hadn't happened in any practice I had and really bummed me out. From then on it was laps down and more contact from a loss of concentration and desire. Retired around my lap 48 which was race lap 60 I think. On to the next.

I really enjoy this circuit an was happy to finish on the podium. Darren was simply just too quick for me to put any sort of run in with him. I got close to unlapping myself at the first stop and was hoping to slow him down a little for a lap or two, but he came out of the pits just ahead of me and took off like a shot.

Well guys what one eventful race…
Quali was really fun and myself, Karl and Greg were all fighting for that Tier 2 pole position lol. Initially Greg had the upper hand, then I nicked it briefly before Karl snuck ahead and Greg popped in a lap to demote me to fourth place. I had to take leave of my seat for a while as the clock ticked down (houseful of grandkids not the ideal environment and I had to go sort them out before I could continue lol). Got back to my seat just in time to get out for one final run with 2 hot laps… first lap was a 1:07.500 which slotted me ahead of Greg by one and a half tenths but two and a half tenths off Karls time in second. I knew there was more time in there though and on that final lap managed to go purple for me in all three sectors to post a 1:07.236 and pip my team mate by 3/1000’s of a second. That was fun lol.
Onto the race and well the start was not what I wanted lol. I didn’t get away well and got off the throttle for fear of a false start as my speed was a touch too high and this allowed Karl to easily get past and for Greg to pull up alongside. I held my line on the outside and broke a little later but then felt a bump to my left and was into the turn 1 wall with my wing off and front right suspension fully damaged. A second later and in my mirror I saw Railer also into the wall. As I trundled around the lap trying to keep my car in one piece Dave spun on entry to turn 7 so I went past but he quickly came back through as I struggled to keep my car out of the wall. I eventually got to my pit box over two minutes after the start and my crew began the slow repair process. Two and a half minutes later I got back on my way just as Daz was coming towards the end of the start finish straight so I was already 3 laps down :/
I just tried to keep it as consistent as I could and hoped I would be able to claw my way back towards the drivers ahead. I was having some success with that and closing the gap to Dave, Greg and Railer but then on lap 17 coming out of turn 5 I came across Dave recovering from a spin so ducked to the right to avoid him and his detached wing but as he tried to get his car back facing the right direction he inadvertently sent his car into mine and knocked me into the stray wing causing me 100% front wing damage again!! Another trip to the pits for a long unscheduled stop costing me another minute and a half and putting me a further lap down. I came back on track and for the next dozen or so laps progress was good and I had a good little race with Greg who I closed down from 12 seconds to just 6 or 7 but then it stabilised for the next few laps until lap 33 saw my final disaster!! As I turned through turn 6 there right in front of me was the end plate of Railers car, nothing I could do to avoid it and low and behold 100% front wing damage again!! Good job the boys bought extras for this race.. I think I might have had one of Karls to see me through lol. After another minute and a half lost time and another lost lap I was on my way again having lost all that progress on Greg my main target at this point. Thankfully that was the last of the incidents I was to fall foul of.
I had really good pace from this point on and kept things consistent throughout the stint running laps that were up to a couple of seconds faster than anyone but Daz. I had a couple of good battles with Tyler despite his being a couple of laps ahead and my pace was clearly much better as I really hassled him for several laps. But it is so hard to pass here and so easy to run into the back of the car ahead. We had one coming together going into turn 1 where I thought he had had enough of my pushing him hard and thought he was allowing me through so he could concentrate on his race but I went for the gap that he seemed to be opening up only to then find it closing suddenly as he obviously didn’t realise I was coming through. Luckily we both avoided damage by moving into the culdesac and were able to reverse and get going again. I eventually got past him on the short run to turn 6 on lap 53/4(ish) and then made a final stop on lap 58 with a spin on the exit of turn 5 on my in-lap being my one unforced error in this race. Thankfully no damage ensued as I avoided contact with the wall and made my way to the pits this time changing onto the black tyre. I had done very limited testing on this compound so wasn’t sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised to find I was still able to maintain a good consistent pace and was actually lapping as well as Karl and Tyler on the red tyre for much of my black stint.
All in all despite the incidents in the first 30 odd laps I still really enjoyed this race. Long Beach has long been one of my favourite tracks in any game and I would happily race here any time. It brings back fond memories of it back in my PC IndyCar racing days when we also had tracks like Edmonton, Toronto, Surfers Paradise and Cleveland to challenge us.. How I wish we had some of those tracks in this game
Well done everyone and on to Indianapolis for the month of May..
My live stream from the race will be up later tonight.

I honestly didn't see you come up on my left so fast and I kept on racing. I thought that lapped cars aren't aloud to unlap themselves unless it's a pit unlap or the car in front is significantly off the pace (i.e. damage). I didn't realise that your pace was that much quicker than mine and didn't expect you to push so hard, especially into that nasty turn 9 lol!

Unless they have changed the rules in the last couple of years unlapping yourself is certainly allowed Tyler (Dave XRF Lemarrrr can perhaps confirm this). It makes sense as well especially if the lapped car is that much quicker than the car in front. If they are running equal pace I can see the value in not passing as there would be the risk of hindering the car a lap in front if the lapped car gets past. If I had not been that much quicker I would have held position or just dropped back a bit to leave a gap but as our pace differential was fairly significant even dropping back 5 seconds would have seen me back on your tail in a few laps lol. Plus, I looked at it that it was important for me to get past because with still more than 25 laps remaining there was always the chance that a caution or mistake by yourself could have seen me in a position to challenge for the final podium spot.

Cheers Karl, it was a fun drive and luckily that final incident came at a time that didn't mean I had to do more than 1 extra stop.
Good point on the team points I need to get a table up for that asap.

Quali required outlap and warm up lap, then flying lap. Setup was good for blacks for the race, could only get about 12laps out of reds in race trim.
My race was pretty uneventful. Went down the T1 run off once, just missed my braking point and didn't risk turning it in. Apart from that just enjoyed driving around this track, by far my favourite on the calendar. Like Pete said its a shame we don't have more street circuits on the game.
