Just wondering though why are we not using the actual Indycar track with the chicane and sharper corner before the last turn. That is the one that is used in the above race and also the real life footage that I watched from 2018 race.

It's been talked about but several of the regulars can't make anything other than Saturday. We run most of the races on the alternate Saturday to F1 to try to keep the races on different weekends though. Nobody from the F1 grid ever seems to have any interest in this series either.

The version of the track that real Indy runs on isn't in the game.
Sonoma Raceway National in the game is the closest thing to what the real IndyCar Circuit is (Turn 7 and Turn 11 are different). However, I thought we used the GP Circuit last year because the times are closer to what real IndyCar runs at or something like that.
I'm fine with either version of the track though.

However, I thought we used the GP Circuit last year because the times are closer to what real IndyCar runs at or something like that. I'm fine with either version of the track though. I wasn't even aware that the game had a circuit that was so close to the actual one they run on. Agreed that Turn 7 is quite different with that short straight before the second part of the turn but turn 11 is pretty close with the main difference being that in the real world the whole of the area to the left of the turn is left open and cars can run very, very wide while in the game it is bordered off (although you can still actually go round it.. which I did on the first lap I tried lol). It's a shame they didn't keep turn 7 the same as the GPO layout as that would make this more or less exactly what the real drivers race on. The lap time is somewhere around 2 seconds a lap slower and it's a the changes make it a more technical track than the other layout. I quite enjoy the different turn 7 despite initially not liking it and the chicane adds an extra passing opportunity and something a bit different from the rest of the track. It's quite tricky though and the final turn is also something that takes getting used to, very easy to out-brake yourself there and run wide. I think it would need a slight setup change and as most people unfortunately don't use the forums very much they will likely be unaware of the possible change to this layout and will have only practised the GP layout so that will have to be factored into whether we switch or not. I have only done a handful of laps myself but enjoy it equally to the GP layout. I am with Tyler and will happily race either. Definitely should consider it for the next season though

I'll probably not be on for practice and will just join for quali... It's going to be 2 hours or more just for that and the race!! Good luck everyone, let's hope it's a clean one and the problems off the start are avoided from last season.

Congratulations on the win Karl. Huge improvement from last year when you retired on like the first lap lol! Congrats to Dave as well on the fast lap.
We really were just racing ourselves tonight weren't we? I was paying too much attention to my engine and lost it on the Kerbs right before the pits when we all were starting to group up near the middle of the event. A few laps after, I accidentally smashed into the tyres by the pit wall entrance and blocked micko from entering. Did one of you guys move the entrance by chance lol.
I was happy to pick up some extra points for pole and a much better spot than I expected for 2nd. I'm guessing my engine started having issues after the collision with Dave and Mick near the beginning and for awhile there it looked like I wasn't going to finish at all.
Are AI going to be considered to fill the grid for the Aussie V8s/LMP2 series? It looks like the AI will be with us next season in the Vintage F1 League.

Watching my phone replay I see that we could easily make the real IndyCar circuit by carefully moving all those orange skinny cones out of the way like we do at Watkins Glen in the Vinatge F1. Turn 11B is open only blocked off again by the cones.

Q 3 R 5 I went into this event with some confidence after some good testing and a fast setup, could’ve found a few tenths in Quali but ended up in P3 with a time I was pretty pleased with. It started to go wrong for me very early in the race after contact with Pete which ended up with me collecting Mick and Tyler and resulting in the 1st of my 11 trips to Pit Lane, came back out on the Blacks and managed to stay on the lead lap, did some competitive laps and stayed in contact with the pack for a number of laps until I pushed too hard on hot tyres and came off the circuit again with substantial damage and whilst limping back to the pits I came together with Mick as he was racing Tyler, so the theme of my race was quick but inconsistent. Was pleased to get the fastest lap near the end of the race. Well done to Karl for the win, throughly deserved and hard earned on a relentless and testing circuit. Lastly I’d like to thank you all for supporting this series even though we’ve not had the number of drivers that this league deserves, so thank you for giving up your hard earned free time to race in our leagues.
Cheers
Dave
