I do actually agree with this as the uncertainty adds to the reality in some ways. However, the counter to it is that at the moment the game seems to be giving too much weight to the wet weather in it's dynamic setting algorithm. How many races have been rain effected this season in real life.. very few while our races have had rain in 3 or 4 of the last events I think. Singapore, Sochi and a completely wet Suzuka in the last three races alone. I think that the software bases the weather historically on previous events, we should do some testing and determine how the weather setup works then we can tailor the settings with some certainty. As Greg has aluded to each of our events is a one-off and therefore no historical aspect to base it off. In reality it should not do that anyway as each race is independent of the last when it comes to weather but I guess form a league perspective it would help to prevent too many wet races. Definitely we should look at some testing of the 4 stage scenarios to see whether there is any variability or whether it is just set in stone.

I wonder if we had an in game season set up, would we get as much rain? If the game knew we already had 3 wet races would it give a 4th? Right now it's just a 1 off event every time and sometimes not even the same host. Are we using the leagues feature for next year cos you can customize a lot of things for that from weather to the grid. AI replacements for people not about etc. It's been mentioned (by Dale I think) but I have no knowledge of how it works tbh. I did read some stuff some time ago about potential problems we could face with it but i'll have to dig it out and research it again. It's one of those things that is a bit difficult to test but i'll see if there's anything that can be mocked up for a quick test when I get the chance.

We've definitely seen our fair share of wet races in the last few. Singapore was dry/wet/dry, Sochi was a completely wet race. Japan was a completely wet race again(?). I vote for dry for the rest of the season....it's only 4 races....lol
We could do the actual weather for our races. If I can test the weather slot stuff and sort that out it shouldn't be a problem. I'll see if i can do it online in a practice session.

Regarding Practice before and getting everyone in. This last race was the first one I remember starting on time, but I've only been here since Hockenheim.
Could still start Practice at the exact same time and the entire deal would only run 30 minutes longer for those that finish the race.
Every option has a pro and a con. But Practice during the actual session would solve a lot. Qualifying is already cut into 1/3. I would be curious to see a poll with the Practice-added option.
Rain or no rain is fine by me. If realism is the goal, then being able to test the car prior to Parce Ferme is a pretty big deal.
I guess the main argument is what is more realistic... setting the weather exactly as the race had it and then racing that way, already knowing what exactly the weather will do. Or, letting the weather gods play a role, but with a hint of what is to come.
OR, you could turn Parc Ferme Off and then people could run multiple setups in Qualifying. That would solve a lot of it, too.
I'll always hope for a dry race. However, compering and/or completing a rain race at Singapore on 100% is pretty rewarding. Should be an achievement for it. lol.
In all my track/race schools, instructors always wish for rain because it makes you better. A little off topic, but I guarantee people are becoming better drivers because of it. Guaranteed.

AI replacements for people not about etc. I spoke to Karl about this earlier and he made a good point.. it wouldn't be able to handle our split season where we swap over to the new game on release. In addition my thoughts are that there are no guarantees that the league option will still be in the game next year. It will depend on how well received it's been this year. I'll check out the forums to see on that score. I'll be doing some testing of it though to see exactly what it entails as I would like some of the organisational stuff to be reduced, including keeping the points tables updated. Does it do the fastest lap points for instance, constructors championship, etc. All things to investigate. I'll update here when I find some more out about it.

Good questions. I was briefly in another one early on and it was a complete mess. If someone can't make it, the AI took over their car and their points would be counted with AI results etc. It was a weird deal.
Sure am grateful Codemasters implemented Weber, Butler, and fake storylines rather than working a bit on multiplayer/leagues etc. /sarcasm.

My feeling on the whole issue of a practice session prior to the races is that it's just going to be a bit much, especially with the next two races being late starts anyway (I assume people will be wanting to watch the real race first? I'm not fussed myself as I can watch the extended highlights later on if I want). But if we are starting late and running a practice session we would be looking at not starting quali until possibly 9:45!! Personally I doubt I would take part in the practice, at least not regularly as my time is already stretched but just as importantly I wouldn't be wanting to be finishing at close to midnight for these next two races!! With the 8:30 quali start there is at least a bit of the weekend left to chill afterwards, have a drink and watch TV before bed and back to work in the morning.
Don't forget that anyone that has the time can practice the various weather scenarios in advance or even just get together for a quick independent practice before the lobby is up.
Just my two cents worth.

True, and a few of us usually are on early as it is. I just figured if people were having trouble in the rain, that would give them an option to work on a setup if they hadn't before.
So much rain lately sucks, but losing dynamic weather also sucks. Changing it at the end of the season seems kind of hasty, that's all.
Being in the U.S., the time is right in the middle of my Sunday, but the sim race is my priority. The woman doesnt understand. But I can't hear all that since I wear a headset.lol

I think if the frequency was more in inline with the real world it would not be an issue but definitely having it race after race doesn't add up. Either way is fine by me, i've always enjoyed the rain previously and am sure I will get there with it with practice which is why I have not voted in this one. I would also happily race at our usual time but it's always been a problem in the past so assume it will be the same this year and a later starat time will be wanted. Mind you nobody else has said anything so who knows I'll mention it again when the sign-up thread goes up.

It's rare I get to watch an F1 race live as it is. Usually record them watch them when I wake up and am pounding coffee. Lol
