The 72 was yet another innovative design by Chapman featuring inboard brakes, side mounted radiators in sidepods, as opposed to the nose mounted radiators which had been commonplace since the 1950s, and an overhead air intake. The overall shape of the car was innovative too, resembling a wedge on wheels which was inspired by the earlier Lotus 56 gas turbine car, and the layout taken from the Lotus 63 four wheel drive project testbed. The shape made for better air penetration and higher speeds. In a back-to-back test with the Lotus 49, the 72 was 12 mph faster with the same Cosworth engine.
Chapman's efforts produced one of the most remarkable and successful designs in F1 history. Taking the stressed engine layout technique from the Lotus 49 and adding advanced aerodynamics produced a car that was years ahead of its rivals. To begin with however, problems with the handling of the car had to be overcome, due to a lack of 'feel' caused by the anti-dive suspension geometry - which was designed to prevent the nose of the car dipping significantly under braking - and the anti-squat set-up at the rear, which was supposed to stop the car 'squatting down' under acceleration. Once the suspension was modified, there were no further problems. The car caused a sensation amongst the media and fans, with many people clamouring to see the remarkable car in action.

SESSION STRUCTURE
Races will be held on Wednesday evenings with the lobby opening at 4:00pm US Central/5:00pm Eastern/10:00pm UK time with the following format to be used:
One lobby with a max of 16 drivers.
AI - YES, 4 AI at all events excluding Monaco, Zolder, & Watkins Glen. Set at 100/30.
ROUNDS - 12
Qualifying - 20 minutes (25 at Nürburgring)
Race Duration - LAPS in 60 mins (3600 (seconds in 60 minutes) divided by Average lap time in seconds).
In game times will be as follows:
Qualifying - 11:00am
Race - 13:00pm
Time Progression - OFF
Season & Date - Based around the real life F1 1972 World Championship from winter to autumn.
Weather - The weather for each event will be released with each signup.

POINTS SYSTEM
Points are awarded based on finishing positions. No points for retirements or disqualifications.
The best five results from the first six rounds and the best five results from the last six rounds will be retained. For the constructors, every race only the top scoring driver from each team will score points towards the constructors title.

SPECIAL RULES
-TYRES
You may select the Slick, Vintage, or Wet tyre for use in your setup.
-NO PIT LANE SPEED LIMIT
Pit limiters & Pit Lane Speed Limits didn't exist in 1972 so you need not worry about them.
-BLOCKING/OVERTAKING
You may make as many blocking attempts as you would like. Please be respectful when wheel to wheel racing.
-RETIRING
If you have to retire your car and can't make it back to the pits, you must pull off to the side of the track and shut your engine off. The only exception is if you're completely stuck and blocking the raceway, then you must retire to the paddock.
-TRACK & PIT LIMITS
Turned off because of the above rules but they will still be enforced through trust and stewardship with time penalties. We review the races but can't catch everything.
-RACE RESTARTS
If there is a major accident involving multiple vehicles near the start of the race, the race will be restarted.
Depending on the circuit, 1 lap will be added and we will do a formation lap to reform the grid and do a manual standing start if possible. Otherwise the leader will call the start of the race on the first major straight once the grid is reformed.
-CONNECTIONS
If multiple people have connection issues (i.e. disconnects or can't connect), the race may be restarted with the remaining amount of laps when the connection is good, or postponed until the following week, depending on circumstances and what everyone agrees upon.

If anyone is trying to test or determine what to do for better web performance you need the real data first. This site has a great set of tools that can provide that data.
