Maybe a stupid question but are we driving the vintage circuit or regular circuit with 2 chicanes on the straight. Picture of Tylers tweet shows the regular, but as we are driving vintage series, I have doubts 😂 I second this, I've been practicing on modern Le Mans but it'd make more sense to be classic Le Mans

The classic or historic version was last used in 1971 and then modifications were made including the addition of the chicanes. We raced to old classic version in our previous series. We like to keep true to life as possible 👍

I can confirm that it's the modern version of the circuit. The reason we're using the modern version is because we've raced on the classic version a couple times. We are pretending that updates have occurred to the circuit back in '72 and is now the modern version, just like real F1 changes over time.
Eventually, for the '77 or'86 season we'll pretend that the long version of Le-Mans was scrapped for the newly built shorter Bugatti Circuit (yes it already existed), kind of like how F1 has gotten rid of long circuits.

Managed to complete a full race last night. I didn't do a qualifying session due to limited time and as pole is pretty much certain here with the pace of the AI being well below our range.
Best lap was 3:58.0 with others in the second half of the race in the 3:58-3:59 range. Forgot to set a forced pit stop so when I stopped on lap 8 to repair some damage after a little error at the hairpin I came out among the top 5 AI and had some fun for a couple of laps with them until getting past them and still won the race by around 30 seconds.

Those are quick times you did! Got some practice to do

It's so easy to lose time around this track. A slight wring line through the chicanes loses vital tenths. I love the circuit from Indianapolis right through the the final chicanes. That's where you really get tested. Threading your car through Dupont is a real key as it's so easy to just clip a kerb there and ruin your lap and then keeping it tight through Dukarting and giving yourself the right angle to power through the following left can gain you so much time. I love that whole part even though it is also where you are most likely to make a mistake. Should be a lot of fun

What can I say.. great potential for a terrific race with Karl for Team Lotus in the constructors and with a great chance of big points in the drivers championship but both races ended inside half a lap through no fault of my own!!
Not what i've come to expect in our Wednesday night races!! Completely wasted practice over the past week......

Aww crap, i'm really sorry Pete. I didn't know you were taken out the second time as well😖 That probably should have been another race restart, especially because you are fighting for the championship. The comms become fuzzy when driving/concentrating so it's easy to miss what people say, I had thought you crashed out yourself.
I'll be looking at the replay in the next couple hours and we'll have to decide as a group what should happen about the race. It was definitely not fair for you tonight Peter, I can only apologize and try to make this right.

It was too late to restart for a third time and no guarantees it wouldn't have happened again to anyone of us. Wouldn't be fair to do anything other than classify the race as complete. Lessons to be learned going forward, larger grids are always good to see but the unknown factor(s) can always cause unexpected issues.

My only thought would be to implement some sort of pre-race test/practice system for new sign ups. It would have to be a different day than race days. That way they can learn the ins and outs of how we do wheel to wheel racing, the game itself, and see for themselves if they really want to do it. But then again, who really wants to set one of those lobbies up? I know I don't feel like doing it lol.
Project Cars 2 is a game, but it's also not a game, at least the way we do it. It is for fun, but it's also a competition, and one we like to keep fun and fair for everyone.
Live and learn, keep your head up Pete and I hope you have better luck at Brands Hatch

Really crap you have been taken out twice in 3 corners, this is not how we should race in any of our races. I always lift of my throttle 20 meters earlier than my braking point when driving behind someone, overtaking on the acceleration part coming out of a corner is much easier than overtaking under braking. Even the pro's mess up those kind of overtakes more than they are willing to admit, we as fun drivers should be racing smart and just wait for that little mistake that everyone is going to make eventually. I agree with Tyler that some sort of racing school should be done if people want to join, specially now with sim racing being hot and PC2 being free to play. Was lucky myself you guys let me drive the WEC series as a newbie, but I bet I wouldn't stick around if I would mess up the race or my race would be ended after turn1.
