Xbox GT: dustypants Wheel: TM Ferr 458 Spider Pedals: Standard Where I started racing online: F1 2014 on the bargain rack, then 2018 and 2019
Hi Everyone, just picking up PC2 since it went on GamePass and found this forum after digging around for a community on the official PC2 forums. This is my first proper sim experience and it is super involved and super fun. I am pretty sure that my level will not be anywhere near most people in this forum, so I may want to start a "beginner" series for those of us with less experience and pace to make this group and the game itself more approachable to us noobs, unless there is something similar already. This would be in addition to whatever other random lobbies I can make.
I had my first "Aha!" moment tuning the sway bars on the stock SMS Loose setup on the GT3 911 after a frustrating public lobby, very rewarding to feel the difference in response after small changes like that.
See you on the track!

See you on the track! Welcome aboard Dusty, really pleased to see you find your way to us 👍 We are a friendly bunch here and there's always someone willing to give any help and advice you might need on any aspect of sim racing in general or with a particular car or track. Check out the forum areas to see if any of our current series floats your boat but we are always looking to the future to so keep your eyes peeled for future series too. Several guys here get on and run stuff during the week so look out for them whenever you are online and join in to get some added experience whenever you are able. XFR Lemarrrr and Dale Rossi are the most likely at the moment to be on at any given time so be sure to add them to your friends list. Certainly add me too but my time online is more restricted. Cheers and don't be afraid to ask anything ok.

Welcome to the forum. PCars, Assetto etc have a fairly steep learning curve, but there are a lot of helpful people here. There are several series being ran and/or starting to run. Vintage F1, IndyCars, and LMP1 are all going to be fairly advanced. There is a Wednesday league being ran in Renault Touring Cars that are pretty accessible. My overall advice would be, while generally learning, pick one car and one (two at the most) tracks and practice racing them. If you're not used to racing cockpit or helmet cam, start getting used to it. Many use helmet cam so you can take advantage of Look to Apex. Your Field of View is an actual calculation from your eyes to your screen. Here is a calculator: dinex86.github.io/FOV-Calculator/You'll likely need to adjust the seat in your car. If you don't want to have to keep remapping buttons for that, it is helpful to have a button box. A $15 USB "10 Key" works really well for this and you can also put brake bias on it and a few others. Tire temps and pressures are important. Here is a link to an image with all the tire temp info you need: www.gtplanet.net/forum/attachments/screenshot_20180328-232548-png.725659/When racing in public lobbies, don't worry about your skill rating, but try to get your safety rating up. That is similar to F1. Here is a video that is very helpful for new and old racers alike. Hotlapping is great to learn a line, but it will only take you so far.

Hi Dusty, As Pete and Sean have said we’re all willing to give advice and help with any racing issues you may have, there’s a lot of great races on our forum and you’re welcome to join any of the championships that are active. Our Grid Choice series is a new concept that Sean has come up with and is proving to be a positive addition to our forum and our Touring Car series is also great fun. Feel free to join any of the series that you find and we’ll do our best to get you driving faster Look forward to racing with you in the future Cheers Dave

Wow Dale Rossi that is a TON of info. Cant wait to dig into it all. Ive started in on an LMP2 sprint and GT3 championship on other discord servers, but the Touring Car series seems like a blast! Also, i heard about the USB keypad hack too, thats a great workaround for a button box. Would be pretty easy to 3D print a clip on button box cover for a keypad. Anyway, Ill jump into the TC series just to get my feet wet. EDIT: Im still working normal hours M-Th so i cant do afternoon hours EST. Ill look for another series thatll fit my schedule.
