Hiya guys I’m having huge issues with gameplay at the moment (it’s probably my old Xbox)
If I join someone online for a race ect the car and feedback on my wheel seem fine. But if I make my own lobby or play offline with private testing or private race the car will become unstable and the feedback on the wheel is much stronger and suffers with major clipping down the straights. Have I got something setup wrong or is my Xbox just struggling to run this game?

That seems contrary to what we expect tbh. Usually private testing is where the performance is at its peak because there is no online or other drivers to take up resource. What those of us that used to use the original Xbox always found was that once you started adding in extra things like more drivers, weather effects, transitions, etc. that the Xbox would really start to struggle and the physics of the game were the first thing to suffer making it very difficult to drive consistently.
What sort of graphical settings have you got enabled? I would suggest didabling anything not essential.. all those little things have an impact on the resource being used. Reduce the number of AI if racing them. In tests I did when I had an original Xbox the sweet spot tended to be around 10-12 and anything above that would cause things to start going loopy. Different tracks also require more or less resource so it is a bit of lottery in some respects.
If you are struggling with clipping down the straights reduce the FX setting.. I think that's the one.. it's bottom of the settings if I remember correctly. Anything above 25 tended to cause problems.

Thanks for the info mate. Next time I’m on I will check those things out.
I had 10 mins trying out time trial before I needed to stop and it seemed to behave much more predictably. It’s not ideal but I guess if I can’t get the other options to work I can still get some practice in there
I guess the best option would be to upgrade to the newer Xbox, I’m just reluctant to upgrade knowing at the end of the year the new one is out.

Yeah, makes it a tough decision, but the X1X is itself a very, very good console and you can find decent deals on them here and there, imagine the new one will be quite a bit more, albeit likely still good value considering what you get.
I do promise, even non 4K games run better on the X than the standard One, especially anything using the Unreal engine.
