Qualifying – P9 Sprint – P5 Feature – P7
Between 6th and 10th, the grid was only covered by a few tenths. I could have had P8 I think but couldn’t get a good lap in at the end and Peppe pipped me at the last stage.
First race was red flagged – Dan, sorry for first corner – I had nowhere to go.
Second first race was a great start. Managed to avoid all of the chaos at the start and was up to 8th. Had a huge off at Maggots/Becketts and somehow managed to avoid major damage. Kept it clean and kept gaining places with other mistakes and a few nice overtakes. Bryan and Peter were dualling towards he end so I was sitting back patiently waiting for something to happen. Bryan managed to get past after some contact between him and Peter, meaning I could hunt Peter. Coming into Luffield, I was too hot when I went up the inside and couldn’t stop. I hit Peter and got the place. Really sorry, Pete as it was too aggressive from me. Came home to finish 5th with my team mate retiring.
Starting P9 again for the feature race, Peppe had some interesting antics on the way to the Grid causing a few of us damage. Bryan and I both had to pit and watching the commentary stream back, it looked as if Peppe had to stop too. Pit lane start behind Bryan – both got away well with no issues or penalties. I made good progress up the field keeping out of a big crash between Bryan, Ian and Peter. I then started hunting down the cars in front and made a clean pass on Carmela and a really nice pass on Adam into Maggots (great awareness from us both I’d say).
Running nicely in 5th, I only planned to stop once but PC2 luck finally struck me like it has so many others, I never got a tyre change!! I fuelled up to the end and had to switch to an Indycar strategy to prompt the tyre change. While this cost me another stop – it did work but the pressures were all over the place. This dropped me back to 8th but I was able to get bast Carmela again and bring it home in 7th. Could have been a close race between Bryan and I as we were really close on pace. Enjoying racing with you mate – well done for a good result again.
As always I’m loving this series with you all. I’m currently suffering with COVID so to have finished both races last night was an absolute fight – I was done at the end of race 2. Thanks for cheering me up and onto the next.
Congratulations to Karl for the wins and to Will for his second place in the Feature race.

Q 5 R1 3rd R2 11th
Qualifying went as expected but I didn’t quite get the performance we’d found in testing but was satisfied with P5.
Race 1 was aborted after a shambolic start and we all need to address some driving standards, after the grid reformed and we got underway I got a decent start and maintained P5 on the opening lap, I took advantage of Peter’s half spin in Brooklands and moved up to P4 and set about chasing Will down, I found a great rhythm and closed the gap to P3 with Dan close behind, whilst Liam and Karl were fighting it out for the win I quickly closed the gap to Will, coming into Farm on lap 6 I saw a gap open and rather optimistically sent it, Will didn’t see my late braking move and we made contact which finished Will’s race (apologies mate) in the meantime Dan had got passed me into P2 and I tried to stay with him for the remainder of the race, great result for us closing out the podium with Karl on the top step, well done Karl, exceptional driving 👍🏻
Race 2 was less rewarding and after climbing up to P3 from 11th on an ambitious 2 stop strategy I span in the Abbey Chicane and sustained some heavy damage, as I’d missed the Pit entrance I had to drive the whole lap at a much reduced pace and then a lengthy stop for repairs, I rejoined in P13 and with a compromised strategy, tried to regain some ground but the distance was too great and after the chequered flag dropped I finished in P11, again huge congratulations to Karl for a double win, Will for your P2 and Dan with another strong podium.
All in all a good evening of racing but there are some issues that will need to be addressed.
Lastly thanks to our broadcast team, after watching the replay they certainly gave us some great exposure but we need to be more slick and professional now we have a growing audience.
See you in Monaco 😎
Cheers
Dave

Qualy P6 Sprint P4 Feature P5
Q - Tough session, started with a game-audio issue so was only present for the last 15 minutes of qualy. Very low grip surface and a close encounter with Carmello (although he was told beforehand that I was on a fly lap and didn´t want to listen) let me with few scrappy laps that ended on P6, not what I hoped initially.
S - Clean (2nd) start and settled down on P6 but quickly realized that I uploaded the feature racesetup on this race (120lts of fuel) so the disadvantage was huge at the beginning. Peter spun and other guys made contact so at the middle of the race encountered myself on P4. Peter was starting closing on me again when another issue hit me. My throttle pedal was wobbling as soon as it was 100% pressed so on every straight from there on the car was moving all over the place. It felt almost like an in-game suspension damage. Dan and Dave were ahead of me and was impossible to close the gap. Despite that managed to hold Peter with a great long wheel-to-wheel battle until the end. P4 and glad the race was over.
F - As usual we were just about to start the formation lap to determine the reverse grid when another contact was made. Ian didn´t move at the beginning so Dan saw it and informed us that we should avoid contact and slow down at the get-away. He and I went to the middle slowly (as we were aware of the stopping car on grid) when Peppe did not listen and accelerated and tapped me in the back giving me 10 damage. I was furious but given the rules went to repair damage and to start the race in pit lane.
Overtook a couple of cars on the first lap and went side by side with Peter at Copse. To be fair he gave me room and we went side by side try to avoid him but I understeered and touched him so we both got damage. Very rare error by my side caused maybe by the desperation of having lost a lot of places due to damage on Formation lap. 8 damage on FW compromised my first stint but carried on and settled on P7 for the first 30min with slow pace. Pitted, fixed the FW and the improvement was instant, pace was there and Rich had some issues at the pit stop so was up to P5. Peter recovered as well from our incident as was behind me closing the gap.
When he got 1sec behind me I lift off and let him go by (it was the right thing to do and the very least for the contact I caused) so concentrated in bringing the car home on P6. At the end went up to P5 thanks to a later issue that Peter had with his wheel so he dropped a few seconds.
Was really excited about this weekend and the pace showed on practice but adversity found itself in a audio issue, a setup error, a pedal wobble and a contact made at not even the start of the race. Hugely frustrating weekend with some stuff out of my hands. You could say that with a P4 and a P5 the end results were decent but was hoping for a lot more. Heads up (thats racing) and focusing already for the biggest challenge yet in Monaco. Congrats to Karl for making the double. really impressive.
PS. Saw on the thread that Rich was recovering for COVID so stay strong m8 and hope you recover soon.

Q - P10 S - P8 F - P9
Q - I wasn't expecting much from qualifying but was a bit surprised to find myself down in 10th but everyone was really quick and put up some impressive times so couldn't feel too bad about it.
S - Had a very good start on the first try and made up a bunch of places but completely blew my braking point and rammed Bryan off the track at Village. Sorry about that, Bryan. Had a good start on the restart but not quite as good as the first start and made up a couple places but didn't really have much pace and made too many mistakes and ended up 8th.
F - Had a decent start and I think I initially got by one car but lost at least one spot in Village if not more. Through my slow pace and small mistakes I found myself falling down the order and didn't fight some people too hard just wanting to concentrate on trying to find some time. I had a really fun battle with Richard that started at Brooklands after I went a bit wide and he shot up the inside but ended up giving him the outside line around Luffield. From there it was a drag race to Copse with me on the inside and him on the outside. He was able to carry more speed through the corner and got about 3/4ths of his car ahead of me going into Maggots and I had to back out of it. Was just about the only enjoyable time I had during the race even though it lost me a spot. Had a kind of similar battle with Peter not long after that through Brooklands and Luffield but I was able to get ahead into Copse but I ended up spinning at Stowe and taking a bit of front wing damage I'm guessing when I went over the curb but I was planning on pitting a couple laps later anyway. Nothing else of note really happened until the next to last lap when I spun and lost a spot to my teammate Ian so no real damage done there.
Congrats to Karl on the double victory and everyone else on their podium finishes!

Quali - 10th I think? Sprint - 9th I think? Feature - 8th, that one I know for sure
Quali went well to begin, stuck a low 43 in and was in fourth for a while, but as the quicker times came in I slid further down the order. For whatever reason the track didn't seem to rubber up like it normally does, and it was really slick. temps were also about 20 degrees F cooler than I thought it would be, by the time I had figured it out and started to find time traffic was heavy and there was no time left so I took what I had and started praying that the one S physics would be nice to me...
They weren't.
Got through the melee on lap one of the sprint, had a few spots gained and then the inconsistency started. It's very strange how the game does that on the S; for example, at T1 on one lap you may have to put over 90 degrees of lock in on the wheel to even barely make the corner, and on the next lap you might put maybe 20 degrees in and nearly cut the corner or spin out, and you never know which one you'll get until you turn in, makes it extremely hard/nigh impossible to have any consistency. It's like your steering ratio changes on the fly or as if the game has the steering speed sensitivity setting for gamepads on. After incidents and just hanging on for dear life I managed to make it to 8th or 9th. Did a reset of the Xbox, cleared my MAC address as a precaution, reset the wheel, and did the same prayers going into the feature.
After the bungled first start attempt, and the on grid confusion for the second race (Bryan, it was my fault you got hit when we left to form up, I stalled the car trying not to spin up the rears and didn't get going fast enough, that's partially on me for that and I felt like such a twat for it, really sorry for that one) somehow I started in 3rd or 4th instead of 5th, and when I turned in for T1 it just went straight so I bailed out, let the field go and just tried to start over again. On lap one or two, coming through the last corner I'm not sure if I was touched or what happened but I ended up losing the rear of the car and taking out the bollards on the inside kerb, had about 15 front wing damage. I could have probably dealt with it as it wasn't affecting me too badly but I dove in for a fresh wing since it wasn't too bad and I wouldn't lose all that much time. Plugged away as best I could for the first half and was making some ground but then the other issue that the 1 S has popped up; the horrid wheel shake. It's as if you've got an unbalanced wheel, but it's completely random, I've no idea how to describe it other than your car tries to kill you on the straights and there's no good way to fix it. Turning off your gamepad that you use for your headset helps, but it's temporary and usually comes back shortly after. Started to lose time badly, but it was at its worst around pit stop time so I went in, reset my controller and took off to finish the race. The physics calmed down a bit at this point and my tire pressure adjustment I'd set up in my strat helped massively and I found a ton of time, made my way past the Italian boys without incident and started hunting down Adam and Rich. Adam had a moment at Brooklands into Luffield and I made it past him, and I was chewing Rich's lead up by at least a second a lap, if there was another 10 minutes I may have got him but I was just glad to make it back to where I was in all honesty.
Congrats to Karl for another dominant run, thanks to Daniel and Justin for streaming the race, and congrats to everyone who made it through another tough one. I'm going to call GameStop about my 1 X tomorrow morning and see if there's anything they can do to help me, but if I'm out of luck on that front I may be taking a break for a few weeks after Monaco until I can sort things out here. I had an awesome race car for this week, and I was actually looking forward to a race at Silverstone for once, but with the horrible inconsistency of the 1 S I'm petrified of racing anyone for fear of a glitch ruining other people's race. Fingers crossed I can get my 1 X back before the big one in two weeks time

Q - P2 - was well off my PB. That morning i had a 1:40.4 but all i could muster in the session was a 1:41.241, about a quarter of a second off Liam in P1 Sprint - P1 - start was pretty good in the abandoned sprint race, my start for the second run was not so great and Liam pulled away quite a bit. I caught him up after i think he took some damage somewhere. His car was really slow through the slower corners and i almost ran into the back of him more than once. After a few laps he had an issue and went off while i was close behind him. finished strong with big gap back to Dan and Dave in P2 and P3. FL 1:41.376 Feature - P1 - starting from P13 wasn't so bad thanks to the incidents in the parade lap that made several cars start from the pit lane. I took it fairly easy knowing i would have to make my way through a number of cars early on. I was overly cautious at some times and the washout while following cars through some of the corners was quite noticeable. I guess most drivers were going for a two stop and on lap 15 i found myself in P1 already with everyone ahead stopping for tyres and fuel. The setup we had was pretty good on tyres and i didn't stop to change them until lap 24. Liam had put in some quick times behind me but i just managed to get back out of the pits infront of him by a couple seconds and hold P1. From there on i just tried to keep it clean and not over do it through any of the corners. The car felt great though and i continued to put down fast lap after fast lap. Set the fastest lap on the final lap, which was nice. FL 1:41.197
I didn't have too many issues during the race with other cars, but i did see some guys go off track quite a bit. i would be in favour of trying track limits on one of the next races. I guess they won't matter much in Monaco....
Well done to all the finishers.

Q: P13 Sprint Race: P10 Feature Race: DNF This was my first race with you guys. Everyone had a bit of a hard time finding their pace in qualy, but I never found the 2 seconds I lost from my practice sessions. Regardless, qualified last but kept my nose clean in the sprint race and didn't make too many mistakes so I finished 10th after a few racers had bigger problems. Should have started the feature race at position 4 but for some reason that grit place was taken (sorry, still learning teams and pilots) so started from 6th. This time I made more mistakes and while I was moving aside for most when being lapped I apologize to Dave. Didn't see him early enough and gave him a hard time lapping me. Had my first big drift out when my wife stormed into my "man cave" in panic but could not hear her. Second time she told me our dog maybe dying. So I jumped of thinking I retired the car to pits but didn't even manage that, just parked the car. Sorry for that guys, next time I lock the door! Just kidding, btw, dog is fine, pinched nerve in the back, couldn't get up... Alright, better get onto practice, a lot, Monaco coming up.
