Yeah that was great for for a few laps there. When I saw you had bolted on those softs I knew the 8 second gap would not be enough but was determined not to give the place up too easily and make you use some of those nice red tyres. I just went into T1 a bit deep on that lap (unlike the previous lap where I managed to just hold you off there) and you got alongside and I knew you were on my outside going through those esses but had no way of seeing where so just tucked it in to the inside as best I could and then saw your nose appear and that was that. I wish there was a different way to get a quick sideways glance, just not enough buttons to have that and everything else you need. Going to investigate next time i'm on in case I am missing something. How were your tyres at that point? before your spin at T1 I was just looking to stay as close as possible over the remaining laps in the hope your softs might drop off enough to give me a shot at getting back past. Great fun though Tyres were fine mate, they were a used set though and when I was catching you initially I was really trying to not push too hard in them (after that fastest lap obviously 😂) I was running low ERS the entire time we were having that back and forth which I find for some reason helps with the temps and the wear, which makes it even more confusing to why the back end went in me. I was constantly playing with my ERS. High from the exit of turn 15, then low until the exit of turn 11. I found the softs were prone to that sort of spin once they started wearing.

Q7 R7 Another disappointing race for me, couldn’t manage anywhere near the times I’d set in offline practice races so started in the back foot. I didn’t have any of the issues you move all been talking about at the start and got off the line fairly tidily and ran in the midfield until I span out in the corner before the back straight, limped to the pits and changed the front wing and tyres and promptly span again in turn 1 resulting in another damaged wing (thankfully digital carbon fibre is cheap 🤣) crawled back to the pits for another wing change and found myself a lap behind the leaders and 40 odd seconds to Micko in p8. Began pushing to make some time up on the scrubbed tyres and halved the gap to p8 but a series of unforced errors left me unable to close Micko then Mike down, but overall I finished in the top 10 so every cloud 🤣🤣

I wouldn't mind, but I never spun there in any of my practice, all the spins I had on worn softs were at other corners like the hairpin onto the straight or the exit of T1. Makes it worse as well that I span on fresh mediums on the first lap of that last corner exit, so god knows, cause they never felt worn or slippery and then boom. With ERS I was struggling to keep a decent amount the entire race, so decided to bank a full tank to try and pull the gap once I got past cause I had that 3 second penalty, for looking at a kerb 🙄😂

Q4 R3 False start no way! Car goes see though game start lagging so eased of after first corner to see drivers going though dropped back to second to last now,did my drive though end of lap one tried to recoup now started a charge forward. Pitted changed to M then had a good stint and making a few places back now jumped Peter in with his pit stop. Now into fourth and chasing Sean Down then he pits and now 9 seconds clear of him then I spin and he is back in front 😩 so now slowly losing time to him then get some back but not getting closer so decided to pit Now time to go for fastest lap, got that then Alex takes it straight back off me☹️😩😝so re goops fuel,ERS and have another go and got it back 😃😜😂wasn’t a great lap but it was enough. Then found myself closing on Sean 14seconds to get back again closing fast now down to 9 seconds with only a few laps to go,so just kept it smooth and then he lets it slip that he has a penalty so just had to get in the three seconds of him or that’s what I thought and was aiming for even know my tyre were into 40% Mark they were still holding to the tamac good ,made it into the 3 second target and get 3rd with 3.8 seconds clear. Sorry Sean 😜 Well happy after a nightmare start. Well done Karl and Alex. Well done All

Q11. R7 I think
What a race, really found that tough, must be the worst one yet for me, really slow particularly in sector 3 last 2-3 corners were a nightmare, Micko collected with my rear end , sorry about that but I can only go as fast as my car will allow around those damn corners ...lol
Managed to keep it going and letting you front runners through without issues thankfully. Was intending on a one stop but the knobs put the Softs on at my stop casing me to pit again for hard tyres. Overall happy with my result but really need to get practicing again.. well done the podium guys and everyone for taking the time to race.. Not so sure I like the late start though but I’m only one of many..
Well done Neale for your podium finish teamie
Onwards and upwards to a Wet race in Brazil 😂

Always an interesting race at this track and last night was no different.
Quali (7th): With a minute to go I was in 3rd place having just completed my final run. I was almost 6/tenths up on my best lap which would have put me around the 1:33.7's but I was way too cautious through the penultimate corner and lost 4/tenths so ended up with a 1:34.1 whihc ended up only good enough for 7th!!
Race: (5th): Start was a bit weird, I got away fine but it was a bit odd with some cars seeming to be a bit glitchy and then I noted Neale's transparent car. I was thinking of lodging a complaint for his clearly underweight vehicle but I guess i'll let it go this time lol. I moved up the places and had made it to 3rd place by lap 7 and was hanging around behind Sean while Karl started to make his way back up to me. I was having a bit of a struggle for a couple of laps and dropped about a second on each of laps 6 and 7 and then after getting it back together I had my first error on Lap 11, lost the backend at the exit of turn 7 or 8 and spinning onto the grass which allowed Karl a nice easy pass. It cost me 14 seconds and the nice buffer I had to the chasing pack was gone in a flash. I didn;t really recover from that on this first stint and after a couple of bad laps decided to come in at the end of lap 15 for another set of softs. This dropped me down behind Neale into 5th place which I held for the next 16 laps. My lap times were pretty consistent during this stint but not quite up to where I was in my practice race.
After stopping for mediums I dropped to 6th behind Mitch in the Mercedes with a gpa of about 11 seconds whihc is how it stayed until he pitted at the end of lap 37 and the positions were reversed with him about 8 seconds behind but on the faster red tyre. He quickly closed that down and was on my tail and within DRS by lap 42 and then we had some fun for the next 4 laps with him almost getting me into the esses on lap 44 or 45 before finally making it stick on lap 46 when I went slightly too deep into turn 1 and he got the better exit and could take the outside line for the esses. We were side by side through that first part but Mithc had the inside line to the next part and took the place back. I was hoping I could stay close enough over the final 10 laps to maybe get a chance at retaking 5th place if his tyres started to give out so stayed within a second and then he had his unfortunate spin out of turn 1 which gave me the place back and then it was just a case of bringing the car home. I almost cocked it up with a spin at that tricky turn 13/14 on lap 50 but I just lost about 10 seconds and didn't pick up any damage. I cruised around the final lap but stupidly was fiddling with my HUD and cut the penultimate corner picking up my only penalty Doh!!
Pretty happy with another decent haul of points.
My quali and race:-

Vettel had the same problem. Tough track to tune for. The start of the race was bizarre with ghosts and crap everywhere. Will be interesting to watch the replay. Good race, all. CUKills absolutely hauled ass from the start. Q6 R4 My qualifying was so so. Some maybe because I didnt really use a Hotlap setup, but I choked. Last stint of the race, I had a choice to make with about 19 laps to go with Neale on fresh softs and me on 3rd stint mediums. Decided to stay out rather than put on softs since the lead was right around 20 seconds. I was able to stay in 3rd, but got my 2nd penalty going wide in the slowest part of sector 3. Had another penalty early on after going wide on the penultimate turn exit. Don't usually have track limit problems and I think I've only had 1 penalty all year. Either way, pretty happy with the results. I was in 2nd for a large part of the race, but CUKills was GONE from the get go. Pretty dominant. For as many glitches and weird ghost stuff going on, it was a pretty clean race. Had no idea I was on used softs for my pitstop until Will I think said something. Been using 3 sets in Qualifying all season.lol Live and learn.Congrats to the podium guys and Neale made a great comeback on what had to be sheets of ice softs by the end of the race. You and me both Sean. That was a new one on me and something I have never actually checked before. I just assumed I had a set of fresh softs for the race lol. Only reason I checked was because I noticed it in my practice race. Clearly the reason why I have not done better this year

I saw a bit of strange jerkiness to the cars off the line and Neale's car went transparent but other than that no problems of note. The problem with the restarts is the need to reform the lobby, do a formation lap to get everyone in the right place and then get started and as we saw at Spa that proves to be a real nightmare. With the late start already last night it would have been even more of a pain. It's shame there is no option to automatically reform the grid without the need for all that hassle. True. That's kind of what I mean, no formation lap again, just a restart function. Spa was a total mess.lol

You're supposed to tell me this stuff. How else am I supposed to learn?lmao Running mediums at the end probably wasn't the right move for me, although my tires stayed pretty good the whole race. The penalties surprised me since I rarely push track limits that much. Definitely think it was a 2 stop race. Not sure if anyone did it one stop? Practiced a bit with hard tires, but they lost too much time through sector 2 and 3. And 1.lmao

Guilty. lol I do, but assumed it worked like a normal weekend where you get (if they are saved) potentially 3 sets of softs for Q and then have 2 fresh for the race. However, it is entirely probable that I am wrong.lol

No me and Sean both thought the the sets of softs were independent of and we got another set of them for the race. So we start on the used set we did our best quali time on and then still had a fresh set for the second stint (or third if you went that route).

Btw i'm talking abt the pre-race strategy screen when quali has already happened. At least now I know lol This is what I'm referring to... I assumed the greyed out tyres on the right were my freshly available tyres for the race. So one set of each compound here. Screenshot_20191104-200112.png (780.13 KB)
