We had safety cars last season though to be fair by the middle of last year we hardly had one. The concept behind it is more for ovals and is only for accidents. There’s no self imposed cautions and if some one goes off and can get back round without causing a problem then like last year we won’t need it. Daves put it all above, it’s a common sense thing really and there if needed only. I think by the time we hit a race or two we won’t even use them.

Yeah I think I remember one at the start of Watkins Glenn when there was a game glitch that caused damage for several drivers. Can't remember another but then I did miss a few races. A couple of points.. what speed would the SC(Leader) be restricted too during this period? With regard to the restart as outlined here:- Restarts will be single file and will be called by the SC OUT OF THE LAST CORNER (unless circuit layout makes this impossible) once the last car has caught the train. So the SC (Leader) calls green as soon as he is out of the last corner? Would it not be better as he crosses the start/finish line? Otherwise 1) the leader and any cars immediately behind before he calls green get a big advantage over any cars yet to get through the final corner and 2) there is the danger of further incidents into he last corner by drivers trying to get a quick advantage. Long Beach would be a place where that could cause lot's of problems for instance if just one person tried to sneak through on the inside there.

The speed was something I wasn’t totally sure about and was hoping to debate verbally. The out of the last corner was more that it’s a traditional go point for green in motorsports as they tend to put a SC line just after pit in. Again that’s open to common sense as some tracks won’t allow for it. We also need to come up with a weather service to use so we’re all looking at the same thing through the week. Also we need to pick a person to call it finally on Friday nights and post it on here.

I've always used weather underground for those purposes but happy to go with whatever.

I think we should make it clear in the rules here and just re-iterate it before the races. Not sure what a good speed limit would be tbh. 60\80mph? Been trying to find something in the real world rules but there doesn't seem to be anything. Might try it out if I get the chance for some time on track tonight.

Leaving the pits
Remember to have your pit limiter on until the green cones. Please state that you are leaving the pits and do not cut across the pit exit line into on coming traffic including back markers.
Drivers on the the track must pay attention to cars exiting the pits and must not cut across the pit exit line when car are leaving pit road even if this is considered the “normal” line when it is not in use.
My preference for this is that nobody is allowed to cross the pit line regardless of whether anyone is exiting the pits or not..... that is clear and understood and there is no chance of just not noticing someone exiting the pits while in the heat of battle. I don't think using it as part of the track is wise myself. Much better to have it considered out of bounds which I believe is how it works in real life ie you can't cross that line whether exiting the pits or while already on track.

There isn’t any specific speed for the Safety Car, it just has to travel at a speed that maintains some tyre temperature in the cars behind it (there are theories that Senna was killed as a result of low tyre temps) and to keep the race car engines cool enough as most cars don’t have any electric cooling fans if the forward motion is substantial enough to force cooling air into the rads. I think that anywhere between 60 and 80mph will be sufficient.

Like Rich said though we need to specify one weather forecast site so we are all working from the same data.

I agree, no one should be using the pit out lane as part of the racing circuit. That's how it is in the real Long Beach Indycar race.
Personally i'd rather not see a SC. If there is a big incident in the first few minutes that puts lots of guys out or with damage then a restart would be better. But, i'm not sure how easy that is with this game. Repairing Damage can take several minutes in the pits and put you a lap or 2 down when you rejoin. If you have been the victim of an incident you are disadvantaged just as much as the offender....that doesn't seem right.

The only way to police the Pit Lane Entry/Exit is to enable the rule in the settings, other than that if drivers are aware of other drivers leaving the pits then we shouldn’t have any shunts, I use the mini track map to see where other cars are in relation to me and that will help with observing if any other cars are rejoining the circuit.

In real racing pit entry/exit only generally get enforced to the car using them and not a car crossing the line to make the track bigger. Also the game even with the enforcement on won’t pick you up as you haven’t crossed the pit lane. Pits one of the strange things that’s the same but different if you know what I mean. for me as long as no one is coming out of pit Lane I don’t see a issue. We all have track maps and we all check them to see if the next car has boxed so as long as common sense is used we should be good.

Also I’d just like to say if I’m being a bit pushy with stuff let me know. I know how intense I can get over the hole IndyCar thing but at the end of the day this was Lemarrrrr who came up to the plate to race IndyCar again and Hammerpgh is the Admin for this site. Im just really great full to be able to race again and don’t want to tread on anyone’s toes.

In my opinion, it is the responsibility of the driver leaving Pit Lane to rejoin the circuit in a safe manner, knowing that the end of the Pit Lane on this track is on the racing line should be apparent to drivers leaving the Pits, the Race Engineer in the game or Crew Chief will tell their driver if another car is on the Start/Finish straight and the driver exiting is responsible for rejoining the race safely. Like others have said, there are plenty of aids to help like the track map and spotters so unless anyone has any further concerns or objections I’m stating that as the Pit Lane is on the racing line it can be used as such during the race.

No problem Rich.. I don't think you are coming across as being pushy. We all want this series to work and it's just a case of ironing out the wrinkles. With regard to this weeks weather pretty much everywhere I have checked is currently showing Long Beach to be Sunny at the time we have set our race. I'm happy for you or Lemarrr to call it at the requisite time tonight and I will update the original post with whatever is called at that time.

With regards to to the weather, I will announce the conditions on here at 8pm UK time on the Friday before the race. I use Google weather but I’m sure you all have your personal preference. Once the weather conditions have been released then that will be weather we’ll race in regardless of changes in real life. Any further questions or concerns then talk to me here or in the club on Xbox Live.

Can't agree with you there mate. Pit lane should never be used as part of the racing line. I haven't crossed it once in any of my practices. There is no need to move across the pit line to get a good entry to turn 1 you can do it just fine by adhering to the boundaries and staying inside the pit line. Also anyone coming out of the pits should only do so at the correct entry point... ie after the line ends. The driver exiting the pits should only have to concern himself with getting back on track at the correct point and not have to consider whether anyone is coming down the straight and possibly will come over onto the pit lane exit area.

In that case we have to switch on the Pit Lane Entry/Exit penaltys on as we can’t police every driver on every lap. Or can we rely on honesty to keep people from using the Pit Lane as part of the circuit?

I'm happy with that either way tbh. As long as everyone is aware of it then if they don't abide by it they are only cheating themselves really.
