The Oculus Rift is apparently it's own system I think? There's no VR for Xbox as far as I know. I have to park myself as close as I can to my screen so I can sort of get the same effect lol. It is, but there is an app that streams it from the Xbox apparently? I was going to buy it today, but then there was a lot of add ons you had to have. You had to have a normal PC computer, and I have a MacBook. Plus, like Peter said, it looks like it could cause nausea

I'd just get a PC instead of trying to hook it up to the Xbox. I'm sure it would be worth it if one could be patient enough with it though, but then you'd (well, me lmao) lose the simulation aspect of wearing a helmet!

I’m going to ask this here because I value your guy’s opinions. What am I missing about road courses? They are so boring to watch. There’s no wheel to wheel racing, and if there is it’s going five mph in a turn. Sonoma is crazy fun to drive, but I couldn’t make it through 10 laps on TV without falling asleep. For the most part, whoever qualifies in the top 5 finishes there. I really want to enjoy them, since there are twice as many road courses as there are ovals, but they literally put me to sleep. It's pretty much like Tyler said.. it's what you get used to. I know when I was really into my Nascar racing I used to get such dumbfounded looks from others because it was just considered boring to watch cars going round and round in circles for hours... 'what's interesting about that...' was a common question I was asked. Some road courses of course are more interesting to watch than others but they all have their own points of interest. For me watching the onboard shots is the most interesting, especially if it's at a circuit we drive in any of the games we race and I would happily sit switching between those camera's all race looking at the different approach in the cockpit drivers take. That's when I really get enjoyment out of a course that perhaps isn't producing the most exciting racing. To be honest though I just love any racing at certain tracks no matter how boring it may seem in terms of overtakes, action, etc. I certainly found that once I started virtual racing it completely changed my way of watching races in so far as I was not only looking for the excitement and action on track but also the way different drivers attacked the circuit, lines they took, gears they were using, etc. I get it all the time Pete. Most people still look at Indycar as the 500 20 times a season. They don’t get it when I say they do road/street course and the the oval part of the season is only a 3rd if that, which in my mind isn’t enough. I like the ovals and feel it borders on madness to want to drive at 200+ mph into a turn or down a straight 3 or 4 wide. The probably I also get is most people only like things like the BTCC or MotoGP because of the crashing and anything that doesn’t have the high level of smash your rival out of the way isn’t racing.

The Eiffel Tower, the Caribbean Sea, Statue of Liberty, Indianapolis is up there with all of them. It literally takes your breath away. On a separate note, man the Chevrolets are smooth through corners. If I could Drive Chevy on the road courses, and Honda on the ovals, that would be ideal! What do you guys think? I think the Honda has a little more power, but the Chevy is so smooth through the corners. I know that’s not how it works though LMAO.

SO are 1:16's-1:18's still the standard for this circuit? Pole should be a low 16 or high 15, race pace should be around mid 17’s to low 18’s. Red tyres will need looking after especially LHF. Should be a great race 🙂

I've not turned a lap here yet either, and not actually sure i can make the race yet. If i can, i will be at the back without practice.
On the racing enjoyment conversation side of things...I enjoy watching road courses way more than oval races. The ovals are usually Indy car and nascar and they have too many full caution periods for me. Full course caution bunches the pack up and allows for more action, but at the same time it's like throwing away all the work you've already put into the race. With a road course every turn can be a challenge. You can lose or gain buckets of time every lap by how you take the corners. Getting the right line is important lap after lap, where as on an oval a lot of the time it's just floor the throttle and don't crash, and how you take the corners doesn't matter much. Then add in the strategy of when to pit and change to fresh tyres, or maybe you are easy on your tyres and don't have to change as often or as soon as the other guy... that's what i like.

Would the 24hrs of Le Nans be better run on the Oval at Indy or the Monaco Grand Prix run round Bristol Speedway? Probably not. It’s now becoming clearer that our Amurican friends are finding Road Courses and Street tracks more entertaining and interesting as the Indy Series now only has 5 Ovals and 10 Road or Street Circuits. I love Motorsport and if I was stuck on a dessert island with a tv, DVD player and 10 Motorsport DVD’s I’d have 9 Road races and 1 Indy 500 replays

That’s true Rich, but the cars have outgrown the circuit, if the Monaco GP was proposed to the FIA in this day and age it would never be on the calendar.

I can play Bass, Drums, Keyboards, and guitar. I started on drums way back in middle school and picked up Bass around senior year in highschool. I picked up the sim racing wheel the year after highschool . I would consider Bass & Drums to be my main instruments though I haven't really played much except for keyboards here and there for the last year :/

The race went there because it was and "still is a glamorous locale for the rich and famous, for whom the race is of secondary importance to the socializing." -F1 Encyclopedia from 1995 😜 The track is loads of fun to drive, so that's all that matters to me!
