This one is going to be a struggle for me tonight. Love the track, very similar to Laguna Seca and Willow Springs which are two of my favourites but just haven't been able to get any laps in other than a quick session to remind me of the layout. I'll try to keep out of the way of any battles that may be going on, just looking to close out the season with as clean a race as possible Good luck everyone, it's been a blast and I'll look forward to when we revisit this car in a new season.

Though looking at some of the early Monaco GPs I’m not sure if the race went there because it was glamorous or it’s glamorous because the race is there. The race went there because it was and "still is a glamorous locale for the rich and famous, for whom the race is of secondary importance to the socializing." -F1 Encyclopedia from 1995 😜 The track is loads of fun to drive, so that's all that matters to me! Thing is Tyler when you watch some of the old footage a lot of the town is a shantytown fishing village. Still if that’s what people like I guess.

True, and i'd much rather watch the old 50s & 60s cars on it than anything today. Don't quote me on this, but I think the course originally came about because they wanted an official French GP and it was the only place with enough money to do it. They bounced around with it in the early 50s. It's still a good track to drive anything on in the sim games though.

It's difficult to imagine a Formula 1 season without Monaco. We've lost too many of the classic Grand Prix tracks so I wouldn't want to think of losing another. Agreed the racing is rarely exciting but the spectacle is still brilliant. There's plenty of modern F1 tracks that produce less than spectacular racing and limited overtaking opportunities that I would prefer to see removed from the calendar before Monaco.
The classic cars around this track were far superior to the modern cars and still produced some great racing there.

Well that was a shit end to a great season. Taken out in the start line wreck. Then after a lengthy pit I was following Dave around and right at pit in, he went past Nate. I know Nate was having steering issues, but instead of going into pit lane he went 90 degrees to the opposite side across the track right into my line. I slammed him and flipped him. Again I had serious damage. Another lengthy pit and I was laps down in the restart. At this point something was up with my car, either residual damage or a pit bug, because it was not feeling how it did in practice, quali or the two laps I did do. Wrecked a few times on lap 2 and called it a day. I just stayed in the lobby as to not cause any lag and turned the tv off. Shame really as I had decent pace here.
Thanks Dave and Rich for bringing back such a great series.

Man, that start. Ugh. We might as well do standing starts or single file starts cuz there always seems to be some sh!t storm at the starts. I shouldn't have even been able to make it back to the pits, but I did. Then for some reason the pit limiter didn't stay engaged. I used it when I entreed the pit lane no problem. And in my practice race it stayed engaged through the stop. But for some reason it didn't stay and when I pulled away from the pits i went too quick and it DSQd me immediately. What a waste of preparation. Still pissed off.
Hope it ended well for the guys up front though. Not sure I care to take part in anymore though the way things are....who knows. Or maybe that's just the heat of the moment still talking. Whatever.

Yeah, what was up with that start? I was kind of worried for the stability of the group as we lost half the grid...
Anyways, I took to heart some of the advice Rich and you guys gave me, and really worked on my setup, and for the first time made a quali setup, though i'm not sure if that was legal or not. Does real IndyCar use Parc Ferme for setups?
I was really happy with myself tonight, and i'll admit I was scared I didn't get enough practice in. Especially when Nate said he was doing 1 hour of practices a night! I just kept reminding myself to keep it smooth no matter what, and it actually paid off!!!
Was disappointed to see you out Karl, I thought we'd have our usual mid field battle after every one else would get past me at the start. I feel for everyone that had problems tonight, I wasn't expecting to lose half the competition.
I hope the next season is just as good, if not better! Thanks to all of you for such great professionalism and friendly competition!

Firstly and most importantly, huge congratulations to Rich on winning our 1st Indycar Championship, secondarily, my congratulations and thanks goto everyone who has taken part in our series, we’ve made some new friends and had some incredible, competitive racing. I qualified in P6 and got caught up in the middle of the 1st lap shunt and sustained a lot of damage, made it back to the pits and managed to get out just in front of the pack so staying on the lead lap, I pushed hard to make it round to the back of the field just as we got back to Green, I managed to pick off a few people that had offs due to low tyre temps and found myself after some competitive lap times running in P2. Through the 1st stint I kept posting good lap times in an attempt to close down Tyler’s 23 second lead, the red tyres seemed to last well on the rubbered in track and I decided to pit with about 32 minutes of racing left. I emerged from Pit Road in P3 as Mick passed me during my stop but with a good out lap and some consistent times I retook 2nd and set about trying to catch Tyler. I pushed hard and saw his lead evaporating as I set some quick laps, that was until with a momentary lapse of concentration I went off heavily and had to pit to repair some significant damage, and similar to a lot of the other races I pushed too quickly and had numerous offs as a result and ended up in P5 but with the fastest lap.
So, my congratulations to Tyler for the win tonight as it was throughly deserved.
Lastly, a number of you have said how professional this series has been which is a huge compliment, but that compliment is for each and every one of you that has taken part. Our next series is something quite different to this and we’re very excited about its potential.

I don’t really know what to say. Qualifying was intense to say the least and I still haven’t been able to get near that time in the TT even with push to pass. The race didn’t really go that well despite the P3 I managed to lose into T2 with out any help and then had another 3 or so offs all in ways and place I’d never lost the car before. If it wasn’t for so many dropping out I’d have been nowhere near a podium. Big congratulations to Tyler on his pole and win it’s been great racing with you (and the rest of you) this season. Also I’d like to say a big thanks to Dave and Pete for making this happen on this site and also Chris (McDuff) who doesn’t race with us here but also convinced me not to give up on sim racing and IndyCar with all the politics that went on after the last season. Thanks to everyone who has raced with us old and new and hope that many of you will join us in the new touring car series and also next seasons Indycar (any suggestions for improvement inbox either me or dave or indeed Pete). Winning the championship still hasn’t sunk in kind of waiting to see some official points board I think but it’s been mega. Again many thanks to everyone YOU are the reason this has been a great season.

Only thing is, you can then speed in the pits which should penalize you. Disqualify you immediately though? I guess if real Indycar does it that way... I've just watched some of the start chaos as I start to put the vid together. It was definitely a red flag situation as Karl stated. The accidents also, were just that, accidents. It was no one's fault, just a couple of common start mistakes that took out multiple cars in different spots unfortunately...

That being said, I can’t wait for the season to start again! I’m so happy I stumbled upon you guys! Definitely the most fun I’ve had with the game! I’ll definitely do the touring cars Dave, But can’t wait for Indy again!

Well, that was an interesting finale to the season… felt really bad for those that got caught up in the start of race chaos and luckily my poor qualifying meant that I was able to avoid it all and come out unscathed. In hindsight a restart would have been the best bet to get everyone back racing but as with all those sort of things it’s never easy to make that call whilst still racing and of course then what happens if similar happens in the restarted race, how many times can you restart? Something we can discuss before we start over for a new season. I have some thoughts and idea’s on this and other things around that season as well.
Practice and Quali: As soon as I got out of the pits I could tell the wheel was not right as my DoR was way off needing me to turn massively to get any kind of turn-in. Back to the pits and adjusted the steering ratio to compensate and then back out on track. Wheel was much better then but I was unable to get in a decent lap with the car feeling completely different to my sole offline practice. Just seemd to have no pace at all and was spinning out all over the place. Ended up with a best of just 1:18.6 which was a country mile off the pace and a first for me this season as i’ve generally been there or thereabouts each race.
Wasn;t too stressed about it though and just prepared to get into the race to enjoy myself over the last hour of our season.
Race: Coming round the final corner last but one for the start ¬I was able to clearly see Nate’s car bounce off the wall and then veer to the left into Karl and was just able to squeeze by on the outside and avoid any contact. The resultant long caution period quickly changed the need for two stops and I had moved up into 4th place without having to do much at all before gaining another spot when Rich spitted under the caution. Once we got going again I got a bit caught out on the colder tyres and managed to touch the outside wall picking up slight aero damage before going off at the second turn. Not the most auspicious of starts but I had already considered pulling out of the way to allow those with much better pace to enjoy their race and allow me to concentrate on mine so no biggie. I am sure most would have been past me quickly anyway with my poor pace. So right at the back of the pack by the when I got back on track although with some of those racing already a lap or more behind I was still in 6th place. This quickly became 4th place on the following lap when Micko and another I think were involved in an incident and I just managed to avoid Micko’s car as I came around turn 5 but had to take to the gravel to do so and hit one of the trackside boards which caused a little more aero damage. Amazingly by the end of the next lap I was up into 2nd place when Dave had an off before quickly making inroads into the gap and got back past me on lap 10 and then quickly opened up a gap himself as he set off in pursuit of Tyler. With the problems others were having at this track I was handily placed in 3rd and with a healthly gap of around a minute and a half to the next placed car of Rich so already barring a major mistake I was looking good for the podium.
Took my first pit stop with around 28 minutes remaining (at the end of lap 20) and rejoined with about a minute to spare over 4th placed Micko. As we finished lap 26 Dave was over a minute ahead of me and had closed down to just 10 seconds behind the consistently running Tyler up front who had just lapped me but seemed to be running pretty similar times to me as I was able to stay fairly close to him at that point. My only real mistake came around this time whe I spun it going around turn 6 and lost about 10 seconds which brought Micko just a little closer but he then made a similar mistake but took damage as well which dropped him a long way back and put Rich into 4th place but over 2 laps adrift of me so I was pretty much home and dry barring disaster.
The next in a series of fortunate incidents for me was when Dave started his sequence of mistakes that saw him drop from chasing down Tyler to a 5th placed finish 5 laps down… and there was I now running in 2nd place despite having a fastest lap 2.5-3 seconds slower than anyone else lol I closed out the last 13 laps of the race without too much trouble, a couple of little wobbles and no more and crossed the line a lap down on Tyer and with enough fuel left for about three-quarters of a lap.
Couldn’t have envisaged finishing second at the start but I’ll take it be pleased with a fairly clean and mostly error free race.
Well done to Tyler on a terrific victory, great consistent pace as always and a stunning quali lap. Congrats to Rich on the championship win and everyone for taking part and keeping it clean and fun throughout. I have thoroughly enjoyed being part of it and it’s been especially gratifying to see the numbers grow and finish the season with our biggest grid. From a personal point of view there have been some up’s and downs over the course of the 8 races i’ve taken part in but it was great fun and with a seasons experience of things in this game, especially the pit stops on the ovals which were a major bugbear of mine in the first two oval races, I plan to come back for the next Indycar season raring to go, better able to prepare for races and hopefully without having to miss the races that I did this season.

I was behind you when it happened Nate.. just one of those things that can happen at the start of these races with a tightly packed grid. Several of us use Mixer to stream our races live and there is a facility within that to save the recording that you can then go back to see and also export to YouYube afterwards.
