So how is everyone managing in their practices so far? Apart from Saturdays hour online test with Tyler, Greg and Formula I have not had any other time back at this track. It seemed majorly slippery to me though, especially through the esses so I definitely need to get in some track time to lock that down a lot more. Strangely I used the setup that was so successful for me last season but really never had the same level of confidence with it as I did back then. Should be fun regardless but I expect there to be more incidents here with the tight corners and less grip. Turn one is always such a tough one with other cars around!!

I had a practice online myself last night with 10AI. The one hour practice session went ok, the steering was twitchy and tight but i got used to it. Set a fast lap of 1:51.061 on Reds (which only last 4 laps for me before my wheel starts shaking violently). Started the race in P5, but immediately noticed the steering was worse than practice session. I spun 2 times before the end of the esses on lap one. I stuck it out for a few more laps. The steering was super tight, and slight movement was turning the car a lot. I eventually gave up and started another session with only 3 AI in the lobby. Immediately on my first hot lap i hit a 1:50.4, 6 tenths faster than the previous session. And the steering was so forgiving. It was a completely different car almost.
The session on Saturday will be tough for us on the old xbox, that's for sure.

I seem to recall an update after we ran this circuit last year, so maybe that’s the root cause of this 🤷🏻♂️

Just looked back at the thread for the race last season (http://consoleracing.boards.net/thread/401/round-cota-saturday-19th-2018) and my pole lap was a 1:51.817 and in Saturdays practice I got pole with a 1:50.260. Fastest race lap last season was 1:51.936 and Tyler did a 1:48.996 on Saturday. So clearly the track has increased in pace despite that slipperyness. Should be interesting.

I just checked the RS Dash leaderboards and my quali time in last weeks practice session in the Honda was 2 seconds faster than my time in the Chevy last year.

I feel faster than I was here last season that's for sure. Comfortable in the 1:50s. That turn 1 will be interesting. Dave's words "You can't win the race at the first corner, but you can lose the race" have really stuck with me. We also should be aware at the end of the back straight who is around us for the apex into turn 12.
Karl's at a clear disadvantage (anyone on Vanilla Xbox really), I guess they're kind of like the lower budget teams and have to fight harder. If I could i'd get everyone here the X. Maybe we'll have to start some sort of donation thing to get everyone an X idk. I would be willing to put something down even though we are low income over here lol. It's all for the spirit of racing!
I haven't had any time on the track since Saturday either, been busy with family and a sick kitty 😿. I've been kind of a nervous wreck, it could be a tumor, cancer, or kidney failure. Waiting on the results.

Fingers crossed for you Tyler. I hope it all turns out ok in the end. Best wishes. Thanks Pete, I appreciate your support. I think he's in very good hands with our Vet and he's doing good getting his IV fluids and medication from us.

I've been kind of a nervous wreck, it could be a tumor, cancer, or kidney failure. Waiting on the results. Thanks Tyler, I've started an xbox one x upgrade jar. It's got $60 bucks in it at the moment. I'll try to sort out some steering tonight to see if i can adjust it enough to make it more stable. There is a strange track surface thing that happens as well though in T6 where sometimes the car seems to bottom out causing a spin. I think it's at the point in the track where the Club track turns left. With low numbers of AI there is no issues and i can roll through there without a problem, but with higher numbers of AI it seems to be a crap shoot through there. One time through you could be fine, the next time through you hit it and the car spins out. Sorry to hear your cat is still having trouble. It's a tough thing to deal with. Our cat is on a bit of a down swing at the moment as well. On top of the other issues i've already gone on about in other threads, she's started leaving little bloody spots on the furniture. We have everything covered in blankets because it's impossible to keep her off it. But we have to check the blankets constantly for these spots. It's a strange mucussy type discharge. We haven't seen her do it yet. We're not sure which end it's coming out of... is she coughing it up, or is it coming out the other end? We still don't know.....
