Last night was fun and with no online issues it seems, we ran full Grand Prix distance as per the league but with no damage or Safety Car, the car is a handful but if you treat it right it really rewards in terms of lap time, on a cautious note the race management of the cars systems are more pronounced especially the Energy Store which requires close attention regarding charge and deployment, the tyres give good grip throughout the compounds and the track gets faster as it rubbers in. The starts are certainly more difficult to get to grips with and a good preparation in the Formation Lap seems essential to get heat into the tyres and brakes for the launch off the grid. I think the usual suspects will be up the front next weekend but hopefully us midfield battlers can move closer to the sharp end. Cheers Dave Good to hear the positive vibes for the new game. I knew from my beta experience that it would be well received and i'm glad to hear that the more difficult energy management was not dumbed down as that was one of the many things I liked about it but there were a few moans . How are you finding the lack of ballast setting in so far as getting a balanced car? Like most of the previous Codies F1 games the car setup is very simplistic at best, I would like to have had something a bit more in depth rather than the low level elements of engineering the car, but these games are clearly aimed at a much wider audience than other Sim Racing software. As a result the car is easy to setup and it responds noticeably to any changes and I’ve found a balanced setup without the ballast option.

Glad you have, I spend ages trying to get a setup that I can use... 😂😂😂 never really see a lot of difference between changes , so much easier in my Karting Days , make changes and instantly feel it but then that was real and on the track with your bottom planted in the middle.. with this you don’t get that feeling of course.. it’s all about feel, memory and allowance.. love it all the same, just wish I was 3 years ago..🤣🤣🤣 damn ankle

Yeah, the setup side of the game really hasn't changed much in 10 years. The odd addition or change and that's it. It's always been something the more sim oriented have asked for but like you say the game has a much wider audience and the majority are just not into the in depth tweaking and just want something that they can race fairly well out of the box.

Codemasters have always aimed at the more simplistic side of Motorsports with their car setup interface, and as we’ve discussed earlier they have to sell big numbers of this software to cover the cost of the licensing and perhaps the cost of developing the engineering side of the game is unjustified if that puts people off from buying it

So got the game last night and gave it a few hours.
Don't know what to make of it, it's like a tugboat in syrup for slow corners, the thing just drags and then stops 😬 Apart from that it feels okay, gonna take a lot of getting used to.

I can not get the car to go into 1st with the clutch in while the lights are on. The game only allows my to select 1st once the lights are out. It's really annoying. I've tried all sorts of settings and even deleted/redownloaded the game. Any suggestions would be great.
Also having online issues. Time trial isn't saving anything I've done since my original dirty lap, days ago.
And been kicked out of online lobbies after only a lap or two telling me I'm not authorized for online play. We'll see what tomorrow brings.

In previous games I always had to manually put it in 1st. I'll have some practice starts after I watch the GP.

Think I finally found a sweet spot so it's no longer as much as a tugboat as it was. Rear end is a bit drifty though but it's fun to handle 👍

I have done over 50 practice starts in the past 24 hours and not once has the car been in gear when the lights go out. Others on the codemasters forum are saying the same. Some have said it's a known glitch. The PC is up to version 1.05. I'm still on 1.03 so hopefully a fix is coming.

Patch 1.05 – which includes 2019 Car Performance Updates & F2 Online – is currently in test across all platforms In this patch the performance order of the teams has been rebalanced to better replicate the F1 Season and how it has evolved since preseason testing. This update affects both the car handling of your car and the performance of the AI cars. Individual team handling traits have been tailored to be more representative of their real-life counterparts, with updated aerodynamics achieving a performance improvement of between 1 – 1.5 seconds per lap, mainly in higher cornering speed, and vehicle performance has been updated to give a more accurate assessment of each car’s strengths and weaknesses. The other headline news is that F2 will now be available in Unranked Multiplayer and LAN games.
In addition to the above, there are numerous other fixes which we are looking to incorporate into this patch.
2019 season performance updates F2 is now available in Unranked Multiplayer and LAN Improved AI performance in wet weather Improvements to AI blocking behaviour In photo mode changing shutter speed will no longer make the screen go black Fanatec wheels will no longer send strong force feedback turning the wheel to the right on race starts Rain / ERS charging lights now work on PS4 Pro First Ten Down (Complete 10 races online) achievement will now unlock correctly Stopped graphical glitches occurring and getting more frequent during long play sessions Various other stability and bug fixes Our desire is to get patch 1.05 out to you as soon as possible. It is currently being tested across all platforms, and we anticipate it being available for you guys in the next 1-2 weeks. Keep your eye out for further updates once we have more concrete dates for this!
Post patch 1.05, we are working through a number of updates which are a little further off, but these should all be made available over the next couple of months
Paul Ricard Pit Lane Update – July/August Visual Car Updates – August. You will be delighted to hear that we will be adding the Ferrari 90 Anniversary logo onto the engine cover as part of this update! F2 2019 Season – September

There's actually going to be a serious shortage of drivers over the coming rounds as Karl is not available for the next two. railer I know your hockey season starts shortly so are you able to confirm from which race you will be unavailable so we can have an idea of numbers going forward?

That’s a lame excuse, not everyone can race as is either, at least with a calendar you have done idea of what’s going on. If it’s that much trouble then why are we continuing with a league!!!! I joined the league to race no assists and that’s what I get, I love the banter and the guys I race with, it’s a shame that we all have lives outside of F1 sim shack but that’s life.. I say enjoy it while it’s there.. Happy days.

This is the point though, We used to create a calendar that ran every 2 weeks so we knew what happening but if we were short we'd move a race back a week so we could get more on the grid rather then follow the F1 calendar at all costs and just have 4 missable races. Im not sure that's a lame excuse just option sharing considering how little of us their is going to be for the next few weeks according to Petah. If it's a choice between following the calendar and having 5 on the grid or moving back a week to get 7-9 people id happily move back a week just seems logical at this point as not many playing F1 as their was before. We used to have 2 full grids now we barely get one.

Boothy is being nostalgic... back in the day we used to have three tiers to our league to cater for those that were not ready for no assists and we also had Thursdays devoted to club races where we ran realistic cars with everyone in a car depending on their pace. We had over 40 drivers subscribed.. those were the days lol

It was more a i don't think we should be running with the F1 calendar schedule tbh we don't have enough to warrant it honestly. Id rather get people on the grid then not at all.
