Great racing tonight everyone. So nice to see the grid looking so healthy and with more guys waiting in the wings too.
Congrats to Karl on a dominant victory and great consistent racing Dan and Dave to make the podium. I'm happy to take the pole points and a solid 4th which combined with Karl's win and fastest lap gives the Schmidt Peterson boys an early championship lead. An impressive debut from Liam for 5th which also gave us a great final couple of laps.
Special mention to Richard for sticking it out to the end. Great job.

Q: P11 R: P6
Fantastic start to the year everyone!
14 starters and 11 finishers is by far our best turn out yet, it really made it more intense and feel like a real race. Excellent win Karl, you are definitely where you should be nowadays with the upgrade to the Xbox One X. Awesome job and congratulations Dave on your personal best race ever and with such a big grid, that must really feel like a win. I'm really happy for you as you've been trying for so long and have been let down what seems like too many times. Well earned Dave, that was a very strong performance! I didn't know Dan was on our Chip Ganassi Racing Team with us, that was a nice surprise and great finish from him too. With Dan finishing 2nd, Dave in 3rd, and me in 6th, Chip Ganassi has some nice points to start with. Wasn't Joeri going to be the last Chip Ganassi car? We'll need all the help we can to beat those Honda Sh!t Petersons 😆 lol.
Like Peter I haven't gotten too much practice time in lately but still managed my best lap time at the track yet first in qualifying, then again on the last lap of the race with a 1:02.6. Everyone is really quick, it really shows the talent we have this season and like I was saying, last year we were in the 1:04s to 1:07s except for Daz for most of the race.
I was taken out and had massive damage in the lap 1 turn 1 incident, I held my line and i'm not sure what happened but it's all good. After the restart I found myself near the back and losing time to the rest of the field, however I slowly gained positions as people made mistakes and ran as high as P3 for a little while I think. I was pretty close to Will for a large portion of the race and he also made that supurb overtake on me near the end of the race at the end of turn 2 the Rabbits Ear. He actually finished 6th but had a 10 second penalty so it gave the position to me in the end but Will was definitely much quicker than I was.
I had a great time and am pleased with the support that this league finally has and deserves. That's a win for us all, keep up the great work everyone, it couldn't be done without you.
Cheers, Tyler

Sorry I couldn’t finish the race. My wheel was playing havoc with my driving. I went on time trial after I retired and it was doing the same thing, just constant oversteer as if the wheel and pedals were too sensitive. I recalibrated it and it seemed to have done the job. I’ll have a practice at COTA at some point and hopefully everything will be working for them Thanks again for letting me join and hopefully I’ll be closer to your pace soon.

Q3 (Qualified 2nd but had a one grid place penalty) R9
I guess I'll start with the cons. Sped in the pit lane in qualifying which was so stupid. My first half of the race was riddled with silly mistakes, slight offs, and a big off that resulted in damage and caused me to go down 2 laps, be in P9, and not be within a lap of anyone I could race. Early in the race I tried to stay with Karl and Pete but had a couple offs that saw me drop about 3 spots before making my first stop. Put blacks on and had quite a few offs which then resulted in me having the big off with a lot of damage. I also had a miscommunication with someone (I think it was Liam) which almost had him in my gearbox and certainly cost him some time which I felt bad about. Hugely disappointing after qualifying so well but it was a good learning experience overall.
Now the positives. After I made my third stop I had a quick off at the last turn but kept it clean the rest of the race. I was really hesitant on the blacks especially at the balcony where I kept under steering off. I finally found a good groove after that and was consistently lapping in the high 1:01's and low 1:02's on the reds and consistently in the 1:02's on blacks. Also going into the race I was really pessimistic about being able to be consistent over an entire race distance so the fact the second half of the race was my best half of the race has me feeling pretty good forward.
Great job everyone and congrats to Karl on a great win! See you all in a couple weeks!

Q9 R3
Firstly, congratulations to Karl for a great win, flawless from lights to flag and well deserved, Secondly, massive congratulations to my team mate for his podium on his Indycar debut, awesome drive Dan, and lastly thanks to everyone for supporting this series, we’ve often struggled to get these kind of driver numbers and it was great to have so many drivers on the grid last night.
Set a fairly competitive time in qualifying but couldn’t find the extra few tenths to move further up the starting grid but happy enough with the car performance.
Opted for an aggressive first stint and fuelled the car with 7 laps and started on the Reds but with the early Safety Car I was concerned my strategy wouldn’t be as effective has it had in testing, when we finally got the Green Flag I got passed Micko and then underneath Dan to move up to 3rd and I pushed hard to make the strategy work, pitted on lap 7 but I pressed the pit speed limiter too early and lost some time to Dan who went passed me as I was being serviced, I rejoined in P6 and quickly found a good rhythm on the Primes and regained a few places with some consistent fast laps and began to close the gap to Dan who had pitted a few laps later, Dan had a 5 second lead which I chipped away at and I closed to within 2 seconds over the next stint. The car was handling well despite the overheating tyres and when Pete pitted I regained P3. Couldn’t get close enough to mount a sustained attack on Dan and felt I couldn’t get passed him safely so I stayed in his draft waiting for a mistake which never came but I had a couple of off track adventures as I over drove and pushed too hard to make our strategy work. Pitted for my last stop on lap 68 comfortably in P3 when the Race Engineer says that there’s an electrical fault in the engine which cost me over 20 seconds and dropped me into P5 behind Liam, I was hugely frustrated and drove angry for a few laps attacking every corner and pushing hard, Liam pitted and Pete was 23 seconds up the road trying to make his 3 stop strategy work, I was much quicker than Pete as he was running the Lean fuel map and I was flat out, within 4 laps I had closed with some very hot laps and my team mates encouragement and when Pete spun heading for the pits I managed to avoid collecting him and sailed past into third. As I’d been pushing hard I began to become concerned as I had some genuine engine issues and backed off to conserve the power plant and was relieved to see the chequered flag.
Thanks to everyone for all the kind words and congratulations, I was thrilled with my podium finish.
Lastly well done to everyone who took part and to those who finished the race, these events are tough and it’s a challenge to complete a race of this distance. It’s great to see our leagues growing and expand and I’m looking forward to COTA and racing with you all in our championship.
Cheers
Dave

Q P6. (+2 Place penalty) R P10
Q Daft mistake, drove out of the pits without the limiter on. Grid penalty applied. Made an aero change to the car last minute and it was an error with my best lap suffering understeer. Cost me half a second when combined with the wrong line at Balcony.
R After being collected and sent to the ditch in the L1 T1 incident, I was forced to pit and repair damage. As soon as we went green I changed strategy and pitted. This effectively ended the race for me. Lost the lead lap and went back out on the Primary tire with a full fuel load. But inevitably had to yield for the leaders on Alternates and lower fuel loads as they soon caught me after a self inflicted spin at Balcony.
My strategy was offset from the majority so I was running 1:01s with low fuel when the lead lap cars were full fuel and ended up stuck behind a few drivers for several laps not wanting to recreate a Verstappen & Ocon moment... rather frustrating when I had the pace to pass.
Finished the race several laps down after some further pit stop cock ups where the pit crew decided 6l of fuel was perfectly acceptable for the planned 21 lap stint. Finally an incident where I took to the grass to avoid collecting a stricken car across the entrance to Turn 5 and left the nose in the fence. On recovery I was then driven into by the car I avoided, taking suspension damage and rear wing off (I think).
All in all an extended pit stopping practice session. One to forget.
On to COTA!

Qualified 5 (after a few pens infront) Race 2nd (WOW just WOW)
I’ll start off with my expectations prior to the race - I was aiming just to finish and not be disqualified I hadn’t managed to do more then 5 laps in any of the practice races during the week before being slingshoted into the pits and DQ’D
Qualit report
Quali went well managed a quick lap early on could of gone quicker but was mega struggling with feeling sick. Got up and left the rig and took some sickness tablets and said to the wife I’m not sure I can do this I felt so sick I stood outside for some air for a while
Race report
After the restart I managed to hold my position my race plan was to stay clean and avoid incident as much as I could and if quicker cars caught me I wouldn’t battle and lose time and risk damage.
Pitted after lap 11 after starting on the reds and from here on its was blacks till the end. I found really good rhythm and pace and settled in nicely and found myself in 4th with Dave on my heels and we had a great battle together and felt as a team we pushed ourselves closer and closer to the guys in front. I’d purposely overfilled the tank as felt it made the car more stable and gave me the chance to overcut those around me that pitted and it managed to gain me around 2s a time when me and Dave pitted.
Near the end I wasn’t sure where I actually was but was suddenly 3rd and feeling like wow just don’t crash. Then found myself a few seconds from Peter in 2nd and was thinking do I go for it or not. Pete then had to go lean which gave me 2nd and it was a case of bringing the car home.
I then could see with a few laps to go I was the only car not lapped and set the target to not get lapped. I backed off to let Liam and Pete continue there battle without me getting in the way. Not sure what happened at the end when Micko wipes me out as thought as I crossed the line the race for others was over and didn’t see or know he was even leaving the pits until he shouted I’m on your left which was too late 🤷♀️
Thank god it didn’t cost me anything at first my heart sank as I thought I’d lost everything I’d raced for.
Overal an amazing evening so so happy Indy cars arnt my thing at all and I don’t know any of these tracks either. Had some lovely battles and it’s given me the want to try even harder now to do well
Cheers guys see you in a few weeks

Not a good night for me, had a reasonable start after a mixed qually not getting a good run on any of my laps. Fell back around 6 sec off lead then Lap 13 I came cross Laird Cake reentering the circuit after an off, pulled onto the racing line and braked (not intentionally I'm sure) had nowhere for me to go, massive damage....race effectively over. See vid attached. Sorry for my outburst later on in the race ref chat. I understood that chat was to be kept to a minimum but at times last night it was like an episode of Loose Women. Can we keep this down to actual race calls? You may be going down the straight but others will get distracted by unnecessary chat and or miss an important pass shout.

Apologies again, Mick. On seeing the replay I can see that I;m not over as far left as I thought I was. You're right that I was picking it up after an off, but still I should have had more awareness of cars around. Will do better next time.

First every race last night with an online community.
Q - P10
Pace was improving during the qualifying session overall but taking too much speed into the pits for a splash and dash copped me a DSQ for qualiy. Have sorted out the button mapping on my wheel so that the limiter is now easier to hit to avoid this type of incident again.
R - P11 (sub 8 laps down)
After a shunt from behind at the start which sent me and a few others into each other, I was on the backfoot on trying to make up places. After stopping to repair damage under safety car, I caught the pack and was holding place for 8/9 laps. reds started to go off at the rear, causing me to run wide at turn 3/4 - resulting in me heading to the grass. on re-joining the track, trying to stay out of the way; I did the opposite of just that and strayed into the path of Mick, inevitably collecting him and ending both our races. To finish 1st, you're first to finish. Sorry again Mick.
From there is was a case of getting used to the car and figuring out lines/button config/tyre management/pit management etc. All in it was a great learning experience for me and despite my poor choice on re-joining - I'm glad to have finished my first race.
Looking forward to COTA.
Richard

Qualy 4th
I was really happy with a 1.00.1 am in qualy, over a second faster than my previous personal best.
Race 7th
Cheers guys i really enjoyed that race last night. Well done to Karl on the win & to Dan & Dave on the podium finish. Too many spins & mistakes cost me any chance of advancing up the grid but i still had a blast.
Must say a special thanks to Tyler, It’s not often when you overtake someone they give you a compliment on how well you done it. In fact I think that’s a first!
Thanks again for a great night of racing & already looking forward to the next one!

I will start practicing for COTA soon What were your problems tonight mate, I missed what was said during the race about it. Sorry I just woke up, but my Xbox was having issues processing everything once we got above ten people, I started having steering issues. I would steer a little and it would be fine, but once I steered a little more and it would completely oversteer and spin me out. People were saying it was my CPU not keeping up with everything, with makes sense because it was fine when we had 6-7 people in the lobby.

Q-3(2) R-1
Quali - was consistently doing 1:00.3s and thought that was the best i could do, but then got a nice draft from someone in the last sector of the course and managed a 1:00.080. That put me in P3 but when penalties were applied I was promoted to P2. Peter had an amazing lap time in quali. Unbeatable, and a nice bonus 5 points for the team.
Race - Start was ok but then shortened by the SC. The restart I was managing to keep close to Peter and would get a nice draft though the final sector but could never make the move down the straight to pass him as I would always have to lift in the final turn so I didn't run into the back of him. He was quicker through the other parts of the track so a pass anywhere else was impossible. I also didn’t want to make an aggressive move to pass because we are teammates.
I short filled the car for 11 laps at the start because of the rapid wear of the Red tyres, but I didn’t actually stop until lap 14 because of the fuel savings we got during the 3 SC laps. When I rejoined I was in P4 but after a few more laps was back into P2 when others ahead stopped for fuel and tyres. Then when Peter stopped on lap 20 I took the lead and only relinquished it for a few laps during my second pit stop.
I had consistent pace and wasn’t pushing too hard when I was near others. In my practice races with the AI they always seemed to cause me grief when trying to overtake them and it made me cautious for the race on Saturday. I didn’t have any close calls with others, either while racing for position or passing lapped cars, which was great. Everyone seemed to have an awareness of their car and who was around them.
I thought Peter was going to make the 3 stop race work and was hoping we’d be close for a race to the flag at the end of the session, but he had a fueling issue and a spin or two I think. Hopefully the team will sort that stuff out for the next race.
Well done to Dan and Dave for the podium finishes. It was really nice to see Dave up there especially as he’s worked hard to have a good race. I hope you have more of those in the future Dave. It was also great to see so many on the grid for the start and so many finishers at the end. 11 out of 14 starters is epic, I hope we can continue to have that many for all the races this season.
I'll post my video replay later. I'm going to try to download and edit it (like i used to do).

Q -12th R- Retired
Man, that was not how I wanted to start this season...
My car was just utter trash, seemed like no matter what I did I had no rear end stability, along with my wheel going haywire for a while. Figured maybe the wheel was my problem so I reset it but then had no response from the wheel due to PC 2's weird way with having a controller and wheel going at the same time so I had to restart my game mid qually. That, a quick re-cal and a look at my FFB helped with the wheel but the car was still just nowhere near where I thought it was or wanted it to be. I had run a couple 1/2 distance practice races last week and it felt entirely different to what I had last night. Anything more than tip-toeing my way around just ended with snap oversteer. Managed a 1:04 in qualifying somehow and tried to make some spring and roll bar adjustments in the hopes that the car would be somewhat better.....
It wasn't much better.
Think I dumped it about 6 times before lap 30 and when I pulled out I was almost 10 laps down. I hate to quit out in that way but I just couldn't keep going like that, it was making me miserable and there was a few close calls with others so instead of risking ruining someone else's race I opted to just pull out. Looking back I noticed quite a lot more sparking from the rear of my car than anyone else's so I think I might have been bottoming out or something when the car loaded up, but I'm really not sure. Still need to work on my tuning in this game, and these are a whole different animal compared to anything else. Hope for a better go at it in Austin in a couple weeks time
