Just been on and the server doesn’t seem to be there tonight. We would have to join something else.
Edit: Now it’s there but just set for 20 mins quali and race.

Good session tonight guys. Very close on pace and pretty consistent. If we could find another second it would be great but having consistency is going to be most important overall.

Indeed Pete, crazy couple of weeks with work have kept me out of the loop with racing. Considering its only my 3rd time touching the game and my first driving the Ferrari straight in an 1 hour race with no setup it was very good, no big mishaps and consistent pace, I`m happy to see both you and Wayne close in pace and I`m confident that with more time in the game and a good setup I should be up there. Going to have some single player sessions during the week and hopefully see you guys next Saturday and we can check out all the improvements, I think it would be a nice change next session if we try a race in nightime or something, start practicing on the other times that we are going to face in the league

I was actually forgetting that Wayne is not signed up in the IXR Series which is a shame. I’ll put him down as a reserve though in case he is able to race any of them and we came maybe rotate the team. We do have to have at least two of us race every race though it else we don’t score points for that race.

I’m just here for the fun. If needed I may be able to step in as a reserve just keep me updated near the race dates 👍

Just did another 30 min stint today, much better as I got the tyre pressures more on point than the default setup. Did some consecutive laps on the 04.5 with a PB of a 03.4, tried and test the limits on Copse but if you try and go flat on 4th I loose the car, next session will be focusing on playing with the aero setting and the ABS. Still think there is like a second to find.
Regarding tyre degradation... is there any? Yesterday we went for a full hour without changing them and I feel that the only reason to make a pitstop here is if you have massive damage or you ran out of fuel...

I’m finding that more aero at Silverstone is the way to go. I’ve maxed it out and that’s where I get my best and most consistent lap times. I still can’t see where I can find the 5 seconds that I know others can manage in this car on low fuel, just seems impossible for me to achieve that sort of time.

How do you counter the under-steer in the middle of the corner when you give it more rear wing? I am plowing through the middle of the corner.

To be honest I don’t find that with the higher aero, it’s that that I find is much better with it set high. Any particular corners you are finding that with Matt?

I jumped on the test server again tonight, unfortunately there was no one else Racing other than one guy who hung around in quali but then dropped out of the race inside a couple of laps when I think he spun out while a few seconds behind me. I just carried on and completed half the race distance and managed to put in a really nice consistent run during that time.
As pointed out before it’s really important to get your tyre pressures right if you are running the latter stints. Once the sun started to drop and the track temperatures lowered my lap times dropped by just under 2 seconds in the space of a couple of laps while running the pressures that are optimum for me during the day. At those pressures the tyres lost over 1.5 psi when the sun went down and that really compromises your grip and pace in the second and third sectors, from Stowe onwards basically.
My race pace is low to mid 2:03’s which I can push to 2:02’s but in all honesty I’m not going to stress over finding any more time now as I seem to have reached a level that I’m comfortable at and I think on the day consistent pace will be more important than anything else. Quali pace I can manage to get into the 2:01’s but I don’t think I’ll be running the first stint of the race so I’m not looking at my quali pace much any longer as the opening stint driver will be the one doing the quali run unlike in the original format where we were all going to do our own quali runs for each race.
We need to nail down who is doing what stint now so we can ensure practice at the correct time for our individual stints is started.
Please outline your stint preferences here and we can quickly get this in place.
Cheers.

Sorry I've been quiet recently. My wheel base has died and I'm fighting Thrustmaster to get it sorted. Surprisingly it's been an absolute fight to get them to even consider a replacement.
Looks as if the power lead has gone on it. 5 months old!

Good session tonight. Only got on for the last 15 minutes of the race Wayne and Bryan had started early but was happy with my 2:04’s in the nighttime conditions which seemed on a par with what they were doing. Ran the quali session straight after when the server reset and grabbed pole with a low 2:03. Race started with about 8 on the grid and I lost a place at the start and was struggling with low front end grip after a couple of laps and lost another place. Added a click of TC and that solved things and was running close behind the front two when they clashed. Managed to avoid their cars as they spun on the approach to Brooklands and then gradually opened up a gap to the cars behind. Held onto the lead by about 5 seconds then they started to pit but I had enough fuel to stay out and was leading by around a minute with 20 minutes remaining and unfortunately they all started to drop out until I was the only car left. Really dislike when guys drop out when they realise they can’t win!! My lap times started to drop due to tyre pressures dropping so I opted to come into the pits and bolt on some tyres with higher pressures and boy what a difference that made. For the last 8 laps I was in the low 2:02’s and just missed out the 2:01’s by a couple of thousandths. Definitely my quickest and most consistent race so far.
How did your practice go Matt?

1 hour race went flying so safe to say it was very fun indeed. Once you get pass the framing weirdness and learn a bit of the complex menus and UI this game is really decent. Car control feels so realistic and unforgiving, working on consistency makes the game enjoyable lap by lap, always changing. Wayne and I had a good run all the race, he is still a bit quicker (like 3-4 tenths once he really puts the hammer down) but overall making big steps and almost getting there. Have to work a bit with the setups still but this time I was doing some 04s and 03s with no major issues with offs and spins. Wayne overtook me in the night stint but did my best to keep him honest despite having some oversteer. As I said in the other post not having any spins or accidents in the 3 full races I`ve done is a good signal considering we have to face a big endurance race See you lot next week for more practice and hoping that F1 qualy does not get in the way this time LOL. Cheers.

When I upgraded to the TM stuff I sold my older stuff to help pay for it. Not that this isn't working, I'm pretty much stuck until it's fixed. Hoping to send it away tomorrow and get the repair ir replacement process started. Sounds as if you're all having fun in ACC!

I’ll be on a number of times during the week, mostly it will be after 9pm uk time so if anyone else is up for practice just message me. I’ll be on my secondary gamer tag of course though.. XRF Hammer62. So don’t look for me on my normal one.

I was very hesitant for months deciding to buy it or not, glad I did it. I hope TM gives you some sort of solution so you can join us racing soon

There’s no doubt that when you get into it it is a fantastic racing simulation. It’s just so frustrating that they didn’t give it more care an attention and iron out the bugs that have plagued it. A few little tweaks to the interface, addition of button mapping and some telemetry and the game would be right up there.
I am playing it more than I’ve ever done before now though and you can get beyond the quirks the more you play it.
