Yeah, good to have you black out! I’m new to these guys too, it was a great find! Everyone is super professional, and everybody makes every attempt to race as clean as possible! Thanks again guys, it was a blast! Yeah, I guess i was playing my strategy card too soon. I was having an easy time keeping up with you at the start, but i tried to get by a couple times and couldn't get it without the draft. I'd pull out of it and then would lose the overspeed.... I knew the fuel would last about 20 mins so I turned my fuel mix down and followed. After we hit the 20 min mark i waited a couple laps and pitted. I didn't take any tyres, only fuel, hoping to leap frog you. After you made your first stop and came out 5 seconds behind me i thought it had made the right move....but then you started gaining time. A couple tenths a lap .... I was just hoping to hold it together with a clear run to the end and thought i'd maybe have a chance at the win.... but even with the clean run the SC made the end a crap shoot. Well done on the win Nate. You had the speed for it. Without your extra stop it might have been closer at the end, but i think you still would have won it.

After a less than stellar qualifying in started at the back but thanks to the mega setup that Luke shared with me I was soon making up ground on the front of the field, Pete and I were working as draft partners and together we were putting in some competitive lap times even thou Nate and Karl were pulling away from us at a frightening pace. After the 1st pit stops and the various shunts and safety cars I found myself in P4, 2 laps behind Tyler in P3. After I lapped Greg he stayed in my draft and we got up some speed, eventually passing Tyler as he pitted for P3. As the clock was counting down and so was my fuel, I decided to throttle back as at that point there wasn’t any threat, that was until I saw Pete in Nate’s tow hunting me down in the closing laps, Pete passed me on the line taking P3 by 7 thousands of a second. All in all despite all the connection issues we had again last night, it was a very enjoyable and exciting race. I want to congratulate Nate, Karl and Pete for their podium finish and also I want to say what a pleasure it’s been in our first season to race with you all, lastly to Rich and Luke who were both quick but didn’t get the result they both deserved.

That was definitely a veteran racing move by Pete!! I don’t think I would’ve thought about that, as he had a few runs on me that he could’ve probably gotten around earlier. Instead, he had me break the wind for him and followed right behind me for numerous laps! Genius move Pete. That’s insane, that it was that close at the end Dave! There was definitely a lot of strategy.

I loved the two spells racing behind you, very cool seeing the lap times so consistent and the end was just insane... my race report and recording of the race will be up tomorrow. Busy day with family today and spending the afternoon chilling with the missus.

Well what a race that was on Saturday.. such a hassle to get everyone in and I thought I would probably not be able to make it to the end having got the race started so late but luckily things worked out fine. Quali: First run was decent and the times were coming down nicely with a best of 37.200 but then I had a close call with someone on track so came in for a quick stop. Went out again and once more had the times coming down and set a nice time to take the top spot at that time with a 36.600 before coming in again. Final run I didn’t quite get in the groove although did manage to beat my best by 18/hundredths but hadn’t quite put enough fuel in to keep running for the final few laps which cost me the chance to get a better time but getting 4th with a time less than a tenth and a half down on pole was still decent enough. Race: Once we actually got ourselves going after Rich's unfortunate race ending incident I got a god start and was right with Karl but had to get out of the throttle going around turn 2 to avoid running into the back of Luke which meant I lost some momentum and gave Dave a good run on me. He got past me into turn 1 on the next lap and then we ran as draft partners for the first 18-20 minutes and all was going very nicely although we were time consistently to Nate and Karl up front but we were still content with the progress and trying to ensure we kept it safe when swapping positions now and then. The final time we agreed on the swap I went down to the inside along the start/finish straight but had a bit of a wobble and went too low which resulted in me taking out the cones lining the pit exit and destroying my front wing Doh!! Another oval disaster for me.. but this one of my own making. I had no option but to pit and was just thankful that it came just within the pit window so would not necessitate an extra stop. Unfortunately the repairs took an age (1 minute 25 seconds) and I rejoined in 7th place but I was lucky enough to come out just as Nate was about to lap me so I could allow him past and grab onto the draft for the next 10 or so laps. All was going very nicely and we were making great inroads into those ahead (Nate on Karl and me on Dave and Tyler) when disaster struck and we both got tangled with Greg when lapping his car. Nate went high for the initial collision while I went low to try to avoid it but poor Gregs car just bounced down right in front of me with no way to avoid it. Another long repair (1 minute 28 seconds) and then back out again under the SC but I did hold onto my 5th place.
When Dave had his moment under the SC and had to pit again I thought it was going to play into my hands and bring me right back on his tail but it didn’t quite work out and he was able to rejoin at the back of the pack just a few car lengths behind me so we took the green with me pretty much a lap still adrift and looking like 5th place was the best I could hope for with about 18 minutes remaining.
However, I had not taken into account the brilliant run I would get over the last 28 laps with Nate as my dancing partner for the second time in the race. We were lapping in the 37’s for pretty much the rest of the race and the gaps to those ahead were dropping nicely. Ten laps from the restart I had made up 6 seconds on Dave so now 31 seconds and Tyler who was laps ahead was also coming closer and I was now just 1min12secs behind (down from just under 4 mins at the restart). Ten laps later the gap to Dave was down to just 15 seconds and to Tyler 43 seconds. This was getting interesting.
As we ended lap 73 Dave’s car was just 7 seconds ahead while Tyler was 29 seconds up the road. With the timer counting down I knew we had just handful of laps left so time was definitely running out and me and my drafting buddy lost a bit of time (4 seconds) getting past a car on lap 74 which I thought had put paid to any chance I had of a better finish at that point… but then Tyler pitted putting me in 4th place and at the end of lap 75 the gap to Dave was an enticing 5 seconds!! Looking at the timer I knew I had to now get past Nate because the clock was going to be at zero when he crossed the line at the end of lap 76 and if he was ahead of me then that was my race over as well so I had to time it just right and get past him before the end of that lap to give myself the extra lap that might just be enough to still catch Dave. I managed to get a great run around turn 1 and 2 and closed quickly down the straight and took the line underneath before we got to turn 3 to get past and he then dropped away so I knew I was not going to have to fight him off around the turn and could concentrate on the track ahead and trying to close down on Dave’s car ahead. We crossed the line with the gap now down to 2 seconds.. it’s on I thought.. just need to keep this clean, don’t get any wobbles and there will be a chance. It was like his car was on a piece of rope that I was reeling in and as we went around the final turn I could just about sniff the podium. I had a great run all around that turn and Dave kept it tight to the inside as we sped towards that lovely little kink before the start finish line and that’s where I knew I had to get t just right. I guessed he would hug the inside line so was aiming for the wider outside line but he made a little jink to the right before going back towards the inside to cover me there so I just continued my outside run and we went side by side through the kink but my greater speed was just enough to poke my nose across that line ahead by 23/hundredths of a second. Absolutely amazing finish. Couldn’t have worked out better (for me anyway lol). Never had such a close finish to any race in all those I have taken part in over the years. PHEW!!
Thanks for the assistance Nate lol Your pace and lines were fantastic throughout and I took advantage to the max for those two spells behind you. I knew early on in both spells that I could get past you but also that in doing so you would then likely be getting back past me and we would end up swapping back forth several times which would end up losing us both time which I didn’t want to do. Just glad that I realised a few laps from home that if I allowed you to stay ahead that my race would be over a lap early.. that was the key to sneaking that final podium place lol.
Well done anyway everyone. Congrats to Nate for a great win and Karl for an equally impressive 2nd place. Tyler I feel for you having suffered again from lack of fuel and having to make a late stop to rob you of the podium.
One to go. I think Sonoma will be a very different race lol.

Love the analysis Pete! Out of curiosity, what FOV are you using? I recently found out you can adjust your in game seat, without impacting the FOV. I’m not sure I like that though, it looks funny to me when I back it up to see my mirrors.

I also don't like having it too far back but I do always like to have the mirrors view-able as well so it's a bit of a compromise. In pCars 1 I was using the helmet camera with the look to apex set quite high and really enjoyed that but haven't experimented with it in pCars 2 yet.

For those of you just joining us, I take the racing part very seriously. However, I try and make fun of everyone and everything equally including myself on the replay side of things. Thank you for all the crashing on Saturday! Here's the Daytona Demolition :

I love your vids and I think we all understand you're poking fun and having a laugh in them. It's all seriousness on track until some a$$h013 (ME) causes a huge mid race wreck and gets called out for it afterwards. Can't wait to watch this afternoon and have a laugh at myself.
