The history of these games is littered with fixes for things that weren't actually broken but made the game more difficult for pad users. As they are still the majority of those playing the games they have tended to bow to the pressure rather then alienate that user base. on the plus side i cannot touch kerbs anymore i will end up in a wall. Not sure what they've done there but Kerbs are worse then before?

I remember they were more forgiving last year. Pisses me off a lot as it's not that realistic that on some tracks you have to avoid them like the plague unless you want to crash.

Can't say as I noticed any problems with the kerbs last season. Admittedly I haven't been back to the game since the end of last season so I guess I'll find out whether the patch had changed that when I eventually get back it.

I've had no problems with the kerbs other than the ones I know I'm taking the piss on 😆

Hey guys, I am looking forward to race again. Practice starts today..any target times are welcome. If any one is online and want to practice just sent me invite or message on the box I don't race online jet and I presume there is a different feel when it's online.

Grtz Rob I had a test race last week offline in the Mercedes. Best race lap was 1:26.169 for me. Finished P4 behind the Ferrari's and Hamilton. Was hounded by the Red Bull's for most of the second half of the race. It was fun.

Hey, so i heard F1 are going to give a point for the fastest lap of the races this year, but only if the fastest lap is set by one of the top 10 race finishers. Personally i think this is lame and if they were going to offer a bonus point it should be fore Pole Position. At least everyone has a chance to earn that point (in theory)
Anyway, we need to have a conversation about whether or not we want to incorporate that new point for fastest lap into our season. Thoughts?

Thoughts? I agree Karl, it's a pointless point if not everyone can race for it. I also agree that it would be better to give the point to the person getting pole position. That is the true test of speed in these cars and has to be achieved under the most pressure. I'm pretty ambivalent as to whether we also implement it... It's not something i'm going to be in the mix for lol but I guess we do try to follow the real season as close as possible so that being the case...

I had a run today with the new patch. TBH i can't really remember how the tyre temps were before...it's literally been months since i had a propper run in this game. I had a quick run online at Australia and was slow. the tyre tyemps seemed to be going up and down like they should.... the surface temps went up and down, and the carcass temps gradually increased. I did try to overheat them and it seemed to take longer than before to cause them to overheat internally, but again it's been ages since i had any racing with this game. Can Mitch or Boothy give their opinion from the controller side of things? My view on the temperatures after my first post-patch run is that they have definitely dumbed them down. The carcas temp does still heat up through the fast corners but it drops much quicker than before so there is no real management needed with them like there was pre-patch. Maybe not the best track to see the real effect but it's a bit disappointing to see that based on my first experience with it.

It's weird, cause last season I didn't have any problems at Aus for tyre temps, or China, they sky rocketed after those two races. After having a good week with the wheel I have to admit it's kinda a shame that they have been dumbed down, cause it feels like it would have been manageable, but I suppose we'll see what they're like after the first couple.

Yeah it's a shame because it did add another dimension to the races but so far in the runs I've had, including an online practice tonight, they require zero management now. The temps go up high through the fast corners but by the time you are partway down the next straight they have dropped right back to normal.

My apologies to Rob46. I got your voice message but wasn't familiar with that gamertag. I thought you called me "Nate" which made me think you were sending it to the wrong person, but maybe you said "mate"?

F1 2018 on sale for $25 Cnd (70% off) currently. So I took the leap. Looks amazing and I'm getting pretty interested in F1 of late.
No time to play it but maybe I'll manage to get acquainted and be able to jump in somewhere in the next month.

Very different beast to Project Cars with far more limited setup paramenters but it's pretty deep despite that.

We race this Sunday in Bahrain.
