It's a bit of a gem on the X... Bud? Have you broken yet and bought it? It's a far superior product, the machine and the game on the machine. Innerspace HQ I am defiantly holding out and at the same time definately wavering ! The one x guys are giving it a lot of praise and my benchmark is nit before patch 3 and a price bracket in the £30 range, then I am sold and revving the engine . You never know I might even give you a TT challenge or two

I was close to picking it up a couple of weeks ago as I had a chance to pick it up for under 25 quid but the store didn't have it at the time I popped in and since then more problems arose with it so I have not been back to get it as a result.
I did have a look at the One X but it's just way too overpriced for me. I've got it on price watch but this early on in it's life cycle and with Christmas round the corner it's unlikely to come down much so i'll probably hold fire on anything further on the console front and keep going on the One until a PC comes calling.

Quick heads-up fellas.. Project Cars 2 is available at 15 quid discount with Xbox Live Gold so you can pick it up for £34.99 at the moment. Not sure how long that offer is for though as it's not part of the usual monthly games with Gold package but just seems to be a one off thing right now so could be short lived. Thought you might be tempted with the discounted price inthebagbud

Yes I know. I've still not gone for it myself but knew you were thinking hard about it so with the discount I thought it would give you something else to add to the mix.

Even with having the xboxonex and an over the top console racing rig I am still finding pcars1 enjoyable so why upgrade 'cause you upgraded your rig, you upgraded your console... It's the next logical step. Unless you've already got a fancy new 10 bit hdr? It's a better game, works brilliantly on the X. If you just spent that kind cash on a new console I don't think a game that suits it really well is going overboard. It spits on the XO version not just in graphics, it's not just a pretty upgrade, but in real performance. Works a treat. You wouldn't think it was the same game.

As you are not interested in online racing it may be worth the punt inthebagbud. It's dieing a death online unfortunately and league play in so many places is putting it on hold in the hope that patch 3 solves many of the problems. But they've dropped the ball massively in terms of giving the online community what was promised and that loss of confidence in them will be very difficult to recover. I did actually grab it just before the discount expired and am just waiting for patch 3 before installing it.

Innerspace HQ I hear your arguments and I am the first to admit I would normally have been at the front of the queue to buy the game , however I just had a gut feeling it want going go be as good as the hype and I didn't want to be dissapointed hence the hesitation. XRF HammerPH I think patch 3 will be the trigger for me and although online is not my bag for sms to fail on an issue that was so prevalent in version 1 is astounding. The attitude of SMS (which hasn't really improved) does grate me in the denial they seem to give it over issues , I defended them with pcars 1 as I was new to the genre and it was so obviously ground breaking, but I am not sure I could do that this time. I sometimes wonder if they are so tied up with NDA that they can't say anything about the reasons if they are due to sony or ms, but if that is the case it's a shame on Sony and ms as they are hurting the reputation of companies

I am kind of on the same wavelength as you inthebagbud in so far as I gave them a lot of leeway with the first game and defended them on many occasions and despite it's problems it was/is still a fantastic game that I spent countless hours on and got immense enjoyment out of (plus some real frustrations as well though lol). Online is not the be all and end all for me but it does pay a big part in my racing so for them to fall flat this time, with even worse problems than with the first one is inexcusable as far as I am concerned. That is one of the reasons why I held fire for as long as I did. I don't believe the problems are of Sony or MS's making tbh. There are plenty of other games out there that do not suffer the same and for instance F1 2017 has been pretty much faultless in terms of it's connectivity so I have to lay the blame at the feet of the developers on that one. Some of the issues are in no way attributable to anyone other than the devs.. setups not saving, setups changing between the garage to the start of a race or in pit stops, incorrect tyre pressures at pit stops, inability to select correct liveries, etc. These are all things that are very important especially in terms of league play and they need to address them very quickly if the game is to have any chance of recovering the support they have lost and even matching the longevity of the first game. I agree that sometimes the poor communication from SMS on their own forums and the reaction of Ian Bell at times to some of the comments is just crazy. Some genuine and quite reasonable queries are dealt with in a very dismissive and sometimes downright rude manner rather than trying to understand and accept the genuine frustrations of people who were simply wanting to enjoy the game in the way it was advertised.

You guys did a boat load of defending the previous game, and you both still seem to hold it pretty dear whereas I don't and I just can't defend it - says a lot I'm defending this one. I've still nothing but shitty things to say about the first game and good things to say about the second. It's no more broken than the first game currently is but it just does things better as mad as that sounds. If you're still enjoying running around in PC1 there's absolutely no reason you wont enjoy running around in 2 just as much, if not more. I don't bother with online at all in either game, SMS netcode sucks. I wont race unless you provide me a server to do so on. P2P? It's not GTA. Although, to the credit of Rockstar - they made that work! I'll get my closed cockpit online fix when Codies make a Touring Car game.

Innerspace HQ ahmen to that I'll get my closed cockpit online fix when Codies make a Touring Car game. sing it from the hills a game dedicated to touring cars British at least but then throw in DTm, Aussie and oh boy I would go for that The SMS thing is weird and shows the complexity of human nature in how we react to situations - granted I havent played 2 but I do feel like SMS have not improved whereas you do XRF HammerPH yes i just cant get my head round the replies sometimes to forum users its like the mods sometimes have a reset button and forget how they have previously interacted with somebody and as for Bell I'm not sure if he is borderline something as some posts are pure genius and others like one he made today about a certain actress are borderline offensive I am off for a few days R&R and you never know I may just take the plunge

I think it's easier to defend something the first time of asking especially when it was the most advanced and adventurous racer to be released on console at the time. But when the same and more problems are built into the second game it's something I just don't really understand. That's my main reason for being critical of them. The only long standing issue with pCars 1 was the online FFB loss that would happen at times and that appears to still be there in the new game unfortunately. As you say their netcode does appear to suck which in this day and age where online play is so important and with the time they have had to get it right is really poor to say the least. That being said if I can get anywhere close to the enjoyment both offline and online that I did out of the first game it will be money well spent, especially at the discounted price. I look forward to getting into it over the coming months.

Well this is going to sound bizarre but pcars 2 to pcars 1 is like going from vinyl to cd . The quality is undeniably better but you loose some of that real life grittiness. You can make a product that is that polished it actually feels fake - does that make sense
It certainly driveable out of the box and the gt3 around red bull is very nice , ffb very little tweaking but i am not sure the presets provide the level of detail , but as its a demo and only 3 cars they may not be representative. The black spot at moment is the sound the engineer is way to low and have had to put everything down to 30 with him at 100 to even have a chance of hearing.
The setup screens all seem very well thought out and slick but on telemetry I can't see anywhere to see current tyre temp?
Going to give it a good try on Monday and will report back further

I've got a scary collection of wax, a good 10k+ I've collected over the years playing in clubs, bars, bedouin tents, magical forests and brothels. Plastic is far better than CD! I'm looking forward to those new graphical options from the demo myself even if the only one I'm interested in locks it to 60fps. Looking forward to the patch notes for this one even if I am barely playing it just now. I've got far too much silent death from above to rain down upon the evil doers of ancient Egypt for now.

I don't use any social medias, facebook or twitter are lost on me so she helps out my noble cause. I quite often "pitch" them a touring car game via E-mail and get no reply. Haha. You should join in my campaign. I'm just being fair to the game really, pc2 that is. It worked brilliantly out the box, far more than can be said for 1. Lots of things that were wrong with the first game from conception to consumption are not included in the second but nobody is really talking about those. The load times are dramatically reduced by the X too, btw.
