Oulton Park without the hislops chicane would be the exact layout that the track had back in '77, but Fuji is hardly the same track as it was so I could see just running Fuji as is in the game. But I think it would be fun to skip past that final chicane at Oulton to take the original corner.

Probably a no for the AI this season as about 5 of the tracks are modified from their current state in the game. Speaking of, the last two tracks require a volunteer to damage their vehicle in order to remove the barriers, so we'll need to discuss how to cross it once we get to that bridge. Maybe we could get a guest driver because waiting for the person in the pits who takes the damage could take a couple minutes and the others might need to turn off their engines to save them from overheating. When I did my first practice there just messing about with the car I found that you can move them without taking more than 50 % damage to the front wing only but it's difficult and you have to go really slow when you do it. Only idea I have when it comes to that is maybe do a rolling instead of standing start and just run an extra parade lap before forming up on the grid. I've also noticed the same thing when it comes to the car being quite tail happy, I ran with a lot of downforce and a fairly lock-happy diff and it helped but it still liked to swing it on exits. Think it's going to just be a case of learning to just run with it/adjusting driving style, although I could be wrong. We all know how great my tuning skills are in this game lol

Have been following with interest (at work when this series as running so I can't join though), if I may offer a suggestion, any reason the last place on the grid couldn't count down a standing start? Can't see anyone in your group deliberately jumping a start.

Can't see anyone in your group deliberately jumping a start. We usually have someone do just that for the tracks we change. The issue here is that it could end up being a lengthy repair job for whomever moves the barriers at Oulton, which means everyone else having to idle for a couple minutes. The problem with that is just sitting there can overheat and damage your engine, unless like Ian suggested everyone does another very slow parade lap and then reform on the grid. We'd only need to do this for Oulton Park because Fuji is a lot different today than it was in '77 so we might as well just run normal Fuji.

Can't see anyone in your group deliberately jumping a start. Yeah when we have had to do this sort of thing in previous seasons for Watkins Glen its usually just a countdown. That side of it tends to work well enough its just that we've never has to do it at a track where a car takes damage to move barriers so its simply been a case of going slowly to the start and getting everyone in place. This one is different because whoever moves the barriers takes damage and needs to pit for repairs. So it just takes longer to sort out but also I think the main problem is that sometimes when you take damage even after a full repair the car feels different, as though there's some residual issue still in play. That's something that whoever takes the hit would have to put up with for there whole race.

Since I came up with using the '77 Oulton Park laylout I don't mind to be the one to take the damage removing the barriers unless we can get a guest driver to do it of course
